Sister Pie used to be amazing. It felt like something new by means of something old. Great dessert without today's typical overabundance of chocolate and sugar. Looking for flavor in untypical ingredients from a cool hip bakery was awesome. Currently and even pre-pandemic, Sister Pie lost it's ability to be anything more and lost the feeling that its a place for everyone. Its more of an IG post destination for hipsters who are okay with waiting in line for the possibility the menu item is still available. If you're not standing in front of the storefront ready to order within the first hour of Sister Pie's opening, its most likely that what you came there for will be sold out. Selling out of items is very common as well as the feeling that everything is overpriced for the portions received. Employees/owner don't seem welcoming anymore when interacting with customers. Maybe its because the customer base is assumed to always be there so it doesn't matter. There isn't a genuine friendly feeling to be found anymore from a place that seemed immune to bad vibes. Now bad vibes is mostly what remains.

I got the plum cardamom crumble pie. It was good. The banana pie was good. The maple syrup pie was ok. I could only eat one bite of that one. I also got the pistachio rose cookie. Good, but really sweet. I wasn't a fan of the blueberry coffee cake and the cinnamon roll was a big NO for me. I like my cinnamon rolls to be soft and fluffy. If you want to try this place out, I suggest you order only pies.

We just had Sister Pie make all of the dessert pies for our wedding and it was perfect! Guests raved about the different flavors and more than one person said that it was "the best piece of pie I've ever eaten." Their staff was very communicative and easy to work with. I recommend them always anyway, but especially if you want an extra special treat for guests at a local event!

One of the best pastry shops in Detroit, if not the best pastry shop in Detroit. What they make is unique to them their best items are the rose pistachio cookies And the lemon drops

I’ve always wonder what professional, creative baked goods tasted liked. It wasn’t until we tried Sister Pie’s Memorial Day cookie box that I finally got to experience it! We pre-ordered out cookie boxes online to beat the rush and were pleasantly surprised at how easily it actually was to order and pick-up. Sister Pie included detailed instructions on how to pick-up our order in the order confirmation email, and the boxes were ready to go when we arrived. The staff was friendly and quick to help us retrieve our order. With ordering two boxes, we enjoyed them later the same day of pick-up and the following evening, and the cookies remained soft and fresh! The flavors were amazing! Everyone, from the sweet tooth people to the savory flavor people, enjoyed them! We will definitely be returning to Sister Pie in the future!

I’ve come a few times now and have lowered my review, because their ordering process is very haphazard and makes visiting unpleasant except in great weather. The pies here are generally good but the crust can be super super tough. The line can wrap down the street but there’s no way to view the menu without losing your space in line so it takes forever for people to place their orders and pay. They still don’t allow any customers inside, and this coupled with the winter weather + unpredictable stocking (they don’t restock anything through the day, the best stuff can sell out super fast and you won’t know until you get there) + super super slow lines = not worth the visit, at least until May/June when you won’t get poured rain on or frozen while waiting to order. Tip: on busy days, have two menus visible, or take the order of people in line in advance so it doesn’t take so long. Allowing visitors who are vaccinated and masked to order inside would be merciful when it’s 5 degrees outside and the line of just 12 or so people somehow has a 30+ min wait…

Was never a pie person, but this establishment completely changed my perspective of pie. Top customer service, social media presence is LIVE and keeps me updated, every thing I've tasted here so far has been flavorful, fresh, and most times warm. Efficient cashout process and quick service. Suggestion: get your pies early in the day before they are fast to sell OUT. Great holiday gifts. Highly recommended. A detroit staple. Only request: more vegan options please.

Delicious as always! Sister pie continues to amaze me with their unique flavors and attention to detail in their bakes. The crust on their pies is flaky and delicious. The other treats like cinnamon rolls are amazing! Anji and Lisa make you feel like friends and they never fail to impress!

Very good treats but prices were a little high for a slice of pie and individual cookies. (Cookies pricing I’m comparing to Detroit Cookie Co) Person who took our order was a little standoffish, wish the they would open up and let you view the bake goods they offer instead of standing outside and reading the door menu.

Get here early for the best selection! The place is small inside but there is a selection of tables outside to sit. The scones were super moist and the buckwheat chocolate chip cookies were a favourite. I tried a slice of the Banana Pete pie and it was amazing! I will definitely be coming back to try more pie flavours and some of their other treats as well.

This place has really delicious pies, scones, brownies, and cookies. I've been coming here for years. I wish they had more inventory ready throughout the day tho. Consistently running out of product an hour and a half into opening every weekend is probably not the best way to operate a bakery business. Also wish they would expand their storefront. Be prepared to wait in a line around the block- especially on weekend mornings. Come early if you want a change to see the full selection of items.

I live nearby and have been working my way through the menu one visit at a time. Have tried all (I think?) the cookies, some scones, and some pie slices and enjoyed them all. I enjoy the whimsy of showing up to find new seasonal options to try and the treat of having good soulful baked goods to sink my teeth into. I also believe workers deserve fair wages and appreciate the opportunity to support a business that is transparent and lives that out. The service has always been super warm and friendly. They are open on the inside again and it felt safe (all workers in masks, low count and spaced out customers). They also added a pie slice loyalty program (buy 10, get 1 free) and that is exciting!

I’m so obsessed, buckwheat, or flavorful, and will not disappoint. Every pie is delicious for Thanksgiving. We got the sweet potato pie. It was very sweet mushy in the middle good size crunch in the crust. Practically everything I’ve gotten from there has been delicious. My favorite is the strawberry rhubarb although you have to wait until the summer to get it. They also have really cool clothing if you’re interested in purchasing.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Sister Pie in the heart of Detroit, and I must say, it's a true gem of a bakery that deserves every star in the sky! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Their pies are nothing short of spectacular, and my absolute favorite has to be the Stone Fruit Cardamom Streusel. Each bite is a burst of flavor, perfectly balanced with a delightful crumbly topping. It's a slice of heaven on a plate. But what sets Sister Pie apart isn't just their incredible pastries; it's their commitment to the environment. They've ditched bottled water in favor of box water, a more eco-friendly choice. It's a small change that makes a big difference, and I appreciate their dedication to sustainability. The cozy, homey atmosphere at Sister Pie makes it the perfect place to enjoy a slice of homemade pie or even indulge in one of their delicious cookies. Whether you're a local or just passing through Detroit, this bakery is a must-visit. You won't be disappointed. Sister Pie truly embodies the spirit of great food, warm hospitality, and environmental consciousness. Five stars all the way! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Very fun and friendly staff. This is one of the go-to bakeries in Detroit. Who knew you could actually come to Dwtrout for a baked good vacation. Don't miss Sister Pie.

Cute small shop with delightful sounding flavor combinations. I ended up getting these beautiful cookie sandwiches and may regret not also trying the maple pie. The crust looked heavenly. They also sell their brand of roasted coffee and feature some local art.

Way overdue review, but we booked Sister Pie to cater dessert at our rehearsal dinner this past June. Our guests LOVED the pies, I had to come back for more the following week because there were some we didn't get to try, our guests devoured it all. They were so easy to work with, delivery was seamless and on time, and they are very well-priced. We also bought shortbread cookies as wedding favors which were well-received, and they made it easy to substitute items for our GF/vegan guests.
