Extremely poor communication. I had to cancel my booking as a few people in the group became unwell. I cancelled 24 hours before the scheduled booking so I was entitled to a full refund. I waited one week and no refund - it's not automatic, which is the first fail on their part. Money should be automatically refunded if the customer rightfully cancelled before the 24 hour cut-off. I sent them a follow-up email asking what had happened to my refund. They didn't acknowledge my email at all, but did process my refund. Poor customer service - I expected at least a short note apologising for the delay. Instead, I got absolutely not a word from them. If I hadn't picked up that I didn't get my refund and followed it up with them, they would have just kept my money. Poor form. Edit: Business is trying to say it wasn't them and that I'm reviewing the wrong business. The Escape Room NZ i'm reviewing is at 9 Anzac Street, Takapuna. Such arrogance for them to think that it's me that is wrong rather than them.

Played the Mad Hatter room with a friend and had an absolute blast! Our game master Michael was awesome, super welcoming and friendly and the hints he gave were great! Would definitely recommend checking it out for a fun 90 minutes!

Bookings are pretty much essential. I did the Doll (horror theme) room and it had really clever puzzles. A couple good jump scares as well and creepy ambience so it makes for a good, consistent overall experience.

Not terrible, but of all the rooms we've done (we've done a LOT) it was our least favourite place. The mechanics weren't great, one lock was really hard to open so you didn't know you had the right combo, we got told we mustn't have lined it up properly so that was our fault. One of the props was broken which prevented us from completing that puzzle, we were told oh yeah that's intentional cause if it does this thing accidentally then we have to come set it up again for you to gain access again, so you have to move the broken bit (in the dark where you couldnt see what was going on). The sensors were either low quality or poorly maintained as they didn't activate properly. Things were poorly marked. Overall the mechanics weren't very good. Aside from that, there was no story. We were put in the room, given a 3 sentence starter story then after that there was nothing. Nothing about who we were, why we were there, why we were solving puzzles, how the puzzles related to eachother or how they related to us making progress to getting out of the room. There just wasn't anything to immerse yourself in, it was like a bunch of unconnected puzzles with no reason for doing them. We've used a lot of different companies and this one just felt a bit below the rest in quality. Most of the staff were nice though so that was something.

Wonderful experience. Did two rooms (diner and doll) and both were super fun. Can be quite challenging at times but the games masters were always efficient and helpful with clues when needed. the doll was creepy and we got a good fright and the customer service from Ryn and Michael just made the experience all the better. Thankyou!

A challenging and fun time had by all. We finished the Asylum room with 10 minutes to spare, with no help. I would highly recommend this business for team building activities. Eventually everyone cooperated as a team and the result was positive. I would have added the group photo, but unfortunately it hasn't been uploaded to the Facebook page.

I wish we hadn't needed clues to get through our first escape room experience but I guess it just gives a starting point for the next time we give it a go. Friendly staff and nice clean rooms. Also, that mirror in the waiting room is awesome. Cheers!

Would highly recommend!! We’ve been a couple times now and have had great rooms and experiences with staff every time. We’re escape room regulars and really enjoyed The Doll room. Really cool puzzles and features. Would definitely recommend this too! Michael from the staff team is awesome, such amazing service!!

Wow! All I can say is Wow. Had a wonderful, yet super stimulating evening with my friends here tonight. Michael was working, and he was super friendly and helpful in the beginning, and gave us well worded and thoughtful hints to point us in the right direction. He seemed so passionate and knowledgeable about all the rooms. Overall great hospitality by him and made our night even better - he even took a photo of us at the end. Would highly recommend the Da Vinci room, we had a mixture of experience and it still gave us a good challenge.

Great way to spend 1.5 hours with your friends, colleague and/or family. It makes you think outside the box and work together and communicate with each other. It's fun, exhilarating and makes you think in a fun and exciting ways. Fantastic first experience for me and I'm hooked!

We have been here multiple times and everytime we have had a great time. It's always neat to see what they come up with in each different themed room and I would recommend this escape rooms to anyone.

We have done the school of wizardry and the mad hatter rooms now - both were great, fun puzzles and love the themes. I do agree some of the props in the school of wizardry need a little touch up, but it doesn't take away the fun of the puzzles etc. The mad hatter room is super cute; I love all the little details you have put into it!! We will be back for the other themed rooms. My only suggestion; it would be great to have one or two of your padded stools you have in the waiting room in the rooms to cater for people who might have back or knee issues. Easy to maneuver and comfortable to sit on if a break is needed from standing.

Honestly such a cool experience & highly recommend!! If you haven't done an escape room before come to these guys first!! The detail and effort behind the creation of the room is amazing and I loved the friendly & helpful staff who topped off the mysterious atmosphere!! To be honest this was only the 2nd escape room we had ever tried (were a bit put off by a bad experience at a different one) and so we were a bit skeptical going in.. but we left thinking that we should have done this sooner!! Soooo much fun and I can't wait to go back and try another room!

So much fun, staff member (I did ask his name but forgot) was awesome and anytime we radioed he knew exactly where we were up to and gave us awesome clues. We will definitely come back.really like that it is 90mins as time flys.

It's ok, but routine, here's the video, here's the puzzle room ... here's the locker, now leave. Wish there was some way to judge what hard means against puzzle knowledge Vs intelligence. Not my favourite, which is fine, but that was a lot of my income.

The guy working there was extremely rude. My friends and I did the doll escape room and when we opted out of it halfway through as some of us were getting extremely paranoid, he was very rude about it. He targeted the person that chose to do the escape room and kept going on about how we, 15 year old girls, should know better, acting as if someone can never make a mistake. The only debrief he did was asking if any of us are prone to panic attacks, which none of us are, so we obviously thought doing the escape room would be fine. He used that as an excuse to ridicule us. I went and did an escape room at the same place about a year ago and the puzzles are very enjoyable to solve and I have no complaints about how the escape room is layed out. However, that day the exact same guy was working there and he acted like he didn’t want to be there. Overall I enjoyed the escape room, but I hated the way we got treated by the person working there.

Amazing amazing amazing. Group of 3 and we attempted the wizard room and it was just so fun! Some really tricky puzzles and we had the best staff member (Michael) who is indeed the best thing since sliced bread :D Definitely recommend!!!

Over here on holiday and had the pleasure to go through 3 of their escape rooms. They put a lot of effort into ensuring the puzzles and fit out all fit the room theme. Had some good challenges and the game master Jithu who was on today was awesome. Thanks for the great time all!

Super awesome as always. The new doll room and premises were spectacular. Staff were fantastic as usual, filled with fun, fear, laughter and screams. Would be awesome if they a little disclaimer around some of the themes in the doll room, as it was quite terrifying. Great job team, much love, amy and scarlet.

Having been to quite a few escape rooms in NZ and overseas, this is one of the better ones. The 90 minute time is quite nice, given the difficulty and abstractness of some of the problems. The staff were friendly and helpful, though some of the puzzles had some problems (apparently some people in a previous group had done something and that caused some electrical problems). It's nice to play a game that has a lot of mechanical elements to it, so if you're looking for something more than just locks, this is a great one to try.

Such a good little place for some fun that doesn't take hours. It's prescribed time so easy to book a table for dinner after. We did the Da Vinci room. It was really clever, it definitely had us head scratching at points. Could use a little revamp though. It's looking a little tired in places but would definitely go again. Not too expensive either.

Very enjoyable escape room. Yes the puzzles were a challenge and we did ask for help all the way through but we thought it was a great room and would come back to do another. Very nice to chat afterwards to one of the room designers and appreciate that the puzzles are made and thought out by a real person and a lot of mantime goes into each one and they do get redesigned after a while

Was told by the staff that it would be suitable for kids but most of the riddles were quite challenging for them. Good for adults but definitely not suitable for kids. Wouldn't recommend bringing kids especially at $30 per child.

Awesome escape rooms! I enjoyed doing theThe Doll room. Without spoiling too much, It was very well made with lots of different challenging puzzles! Big kudos to you guys for designing such awesome rooms and you guys did a great job! Would happily try other rooms too :)

We absolutely loved these escape rooms and ended up doing 5 in two days! We found them challenging but ultimately satisfying. Jithu was amazing. He was an excellent game master, providing clear hints without giving the answer away. Not only that but he had a clear passion for the design and we loved the room he created (The doll)

Impressed, all I can say is that I had a great time playing back to the past. With the support and warm welcomes from Michael, me and my group really enjoyed our time there. Michael was a great laugh, had great customer service and had great people skills.

Enjoyed our time here. We completed the Diner room and found some puzzles frustrating however this was just due to the puzzles not clicking with us rather than bad design. Staff was fantastic, had a good chat with us and a laugh. Recommend.

Did the "Back to the Past" room this past weekend and booked it based on the website description saying "suitable for all ages". I feel like this was HUGELY misleading, especially since we didn't know what to expect (It was our first time doing an escape room). Our 9 and 11 year old were completely lost and the activity was just not appropriate at all for their age group. We went into the room expecting difficult riddles made for adults, but also thought that there would be more interactive objects that would also engage a younger audience. I also felt the rooms to be rather run down. Bland white walls with worn items, carpet floor tiles pulling up and in other rooms wallpaper ripped in places. The price is astronomical, for our group of 5 costing almost $180. The two stars are for the kind young man who worked at the counter, he was really friendly. At the end of the day I feel like we were hugely ripped off and did not get bang for a ridiculous amount of bucks.

Went here with my family for a Christmas present. Ours was a great, more traditional escape room (padlocks etc). Difficulty level was perfect for us, staff were fantastic. Thanks!

We did The Doll room here and it was great! The atmosphere created was really immersive and was definitely creepy. The puzzles were also really interesting with cool mechanics! Would definitely recommend :)

I did the Wizardry room with coworkers. I'm a huge fan of Harry Potter, but the room was very dark and some of the theming wasn't great, and the clues were not always well written, and the props need repairs. The font used on clues was on theme, but very hard to read. They provided an electronic device for taking notes, but it was hard to read in the lighting and small, so had to wipe previous notes to write anything else then had to spend more time reworking out calculations from earlier to proceed, so would have preferred to be given pen and paper. Some of the clues were really fun to figure out. We didn't complete the room.
