Large lake, great for fishing! Watching barges float by going to the Cheatham Dam. Small beach area and roped off swimming, picnic areas really nice. Restrooms kept clean. Beautiful area. Camping available by reservations, filling up quick check online for availability.

Chatham Dam is a great place to spend the day swimming on the beach, playing at the playground, walking or fishing. Even has a campground if you want to stay the weekend enjoying the park, just make sure you make reservations in advance.

Have caught lots of fish here this summer. A very beautiful place to set up a picnic, a portable hammock at trees, and a great place to swim and fish. Lots of wildlife in the area. Have seen deer, frogs, turtles, and beautiful fish.

Came out here to the dam to go night fishing I've been here before with my kids not a bad place. We didn't catch any catfish but the wife caught a nice little bass. Bring bug spray with you those skeeters will tear you up and I found a few ticks too. There is a nice swimming beach out there too and plenty of picnic tables and grills. The other end of the dam is a campground that looks pretty nice as well.

Great campground, quiet, peaceful. Some sites on the lake. Great to watch the frequent barge traffic and the occasional riverboat going up or down the lake. Very interesting also to watch boats and barges going through the locks which are very near by.

Harpeth River Camp Ground is such a beautiful place, it a shame they don't fix boat dock that was damaged last March when water got up so people that are paying can dock their boats, just saying!

Visited Cheatham Lake today. The lock, dam, and power plant were designed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District and built by private contractors under Corps supervision. Construction started in April 1950, and the lock was opened to navigation in December 1952. The project became fully operational with the completion of the third generating unit in the power plant in November 1960. Corps personnel operate the lock, dam, and power plant and manage the public lands and waters of the lake. At Normal Pool Elevation 385 (feet above mean sea level), Cheatham Lake covers 7,450 acres and has 320 miles of shoreline.
