It was our third visit to Canberra and so to this amazing restaurant. We never leave Canberra without eating at Tikka Take. Delicious food and super quick service even on Easter weekend. Make sure to book a table during holidays. Thoroughly enjoyed the food and ambience. We have tried lot of stuff and everything has been great.

Great Indian cuisine! We had a fantastic experience, it was our first time trying Indian and it was very tasty. The food leans on the stronger side of flavours, and there are spice indicators as well. The menus a bit overwhelming, but our server helped us understand it all. The restaurant has a nice open feeling - great atmosphere.

I had heard the quality had improved after they had been shut down due to hygiene reasons but sadly that was not what i found. The toilets were filthy. The table that was given to us was sticky. The service was fast but it seemed they were more eager to get you out. The food was best described as good not the best. The app used to order food stops working at 9pm and you then have to go to the main counter to order. The tables are so close you can actually enjoy the discussions on the next table😝😝

Naan were paper thin and not cooked. Waiters didn't know menu properly and didn't even give plates and water to all guests. Hakka noodles had extra salt. Chinese Bhel didn't have single spring vegetables piece and cooked in ketchup tasting sauce . Rest of the order tasted plain, no taste... Blunt. Avoid the place.

We ordered the food delivery at 5.41pm and the food is only ready around 7pm. And the food is very disappointing. The Uttapam Tokri are burnt. The pancakes have strong bitter burning taste and we had to throw them away.

Havent tried much Indian restaurant, but were looking for something different in Canberra. Tikka Take took our interest, it was a big place with nice bar of offer. The service from staff were great, they were really helpful in recommending what was their speciality. Food came up real quick and was really tasty and fresh. The drinks we order weren't particular to our taste.

Really the worst dining experience on my special day (birthday dinner) with my partner. I found on hair on the dish Chicken Kohlapuri Naan & Curry. My partner took a serve on his plate and as I was serving on my plate I could see along strand hair. Eww that long hair. Who would have imagined that in a restaurant. I called the staff and she took sometime to figure out. And a casual apology to bring another one and took the dish and the plate I was using. we had to remind her to take my partner plate as well, as he had that food in his plate too. And as we had another dish on the table and staff didn’t bother to get us new serve of plate and cutlery, we had to call few times and remind. It seemed like nobody cared about the customer and service they provided.I would never ever go there again. It’s really embarrassing as no one wanted to confront and just an apology from the staff or manager would be warm and welcoming. I tried to reach them through feedback and complaints section on website and even sent an email, I didn’t get any reply. What a shame!

I love the street food concept here. The menu is extensive, and there are a lot of different options to try. The pani puris and chaat dishes we tried were very good. We tried the special grilled club sandwich, and it had a strong spice flavour, a bit of an acquired taste. The lamb vindaloo was okay, it was like a cross between vindaloo and butter chicken. Great place to come with a group to share all the different street food options.

Headed here for something different. Food was good and had lots of flavours. Staff weren’t all that friendly and was a little confused if we were getting the steamed or fried dumplings. As lots of food was ordered, when placed on the table it was explained which meal was which. Overall pretty good place with lots of menu options and quite a big drink selection.

Great Indian restaurant in the centre of Canberra. Fantastic variety of curries and other dishes, plus a great range of drinks. Always very busy so recommend making a booking.

22Apr22: Dinning in again here after 3 years. Still the taste is good. Ordered : Chicken tikka skewers- 8/10 Chicken Momos - 5/10 Not great but ok, Chicken lollipop sizzler- 8/10 Idli Sambar - 7/10. It was very good 3 years back Sambar vada- 6/10 Masala puri - 9/10 Floating pani puri -9/10 chicken schezwan noodles - 4/10. I don’t like the taste. They are specialized for tikka and chat I guess. Very quick service.

It was my first visit to Canberra and heard so much about this restaurant. Indeed one of the best. Great variety of food options and great quality. Friendly staff and quick service. There have both indoor and outdoor seating arrangements and the ambience just sits right.

Customer service was extremely poor. I orded 5 dishes and each dish was served with a gap of 10 minutes. Chick peas curry was spicy and full of salt. Manager admitted some thing wrong with chick peas curry. Tikka take spoiled the family lunch and my mother birthday lunch. Manager was hopeless and did not apologized.

Very very disappointing !!! Do yourself a favour and go next door to blue ginger. Nothing about this experience was ok (well below average). 1. The customer service didn’t explain the ordering system to us so we waiting for a long time with no interaction. 2. The beer came out flat (see pic). 3. There were five tiny pieces of chicken in my curry (mostly average butter chicken sauce). 4. The place was disgustingly filthy (see pic) 5. My female partner advised there was no toilet seat on the toilet, no door handle on the toilet door, and bathrooms seemed untidy, filthy and poorly maintained. 6. Naan bread was not cooked (doughy) see pics. Will NEVER go back to this ‘restaurant’ !!!

The food here was okay, albeit, it was quite hyped up to us before we got there so maybe we had too high expectations going in. There was a decent variety of mainstream dishes and a few cool new takes on classics. The flavours were all there but they did not blow my socks off. It's worth a visit if you are in the area but definitely book ahead and get there on time as they get super busy (we were told our table booking would be held for no longer than 5 mins) .

Restaurant is situated centrally and has paid car park just opposite to it. Service is good and the staff is accommodating. Food is expensive as the portion was too small. Ice-creams are a must try. Place has good views; female and male toilets are available on premises.

Food was on point (5star) when we finally got it after a 45 minute wait. Restaurant was about half full. Once shown a table we weren't not told about the ordering process of writing your order on a piece of paper, waiter was hard to get ahold of and not really interested in stopping to check if everything was okay. Basic cutlery wasn't around and had to chase down. Sat between 2 dirty tables for 90% of the time we were there. Will go back for the take away food but attention to detail is something that has to be strongly recommended for the restaurant environment.

Great variety from Punjabi to South Indian to Indo-Chinese to Chaat and Mumbai street food. Also more vegetarian options than most Indian restaurants we have visited in Canberra. Decent choices for kids too. Our favourites are the Mumbai street food, dosas and the dum biryanis. Recommended to pre-book. Walk-ins are often turned back since they are mostly at capacity especially Friday evenings and weekends. Customer service may vary fair bit. We’ve had decent experience mostly but at times the service and attention to detail can be ordinary (eg at times milkshakes served without straws, crockery was provided promptly but took couple of reminders to get cutlery) Dear owners, may be time to refresh a bit. We got a couple of chipped crockery at our most recent visit in Sept’22.

Tried the Dahi Puri and the Mumbai Sev Puri as quick bites, and they were extremely delicious! Tikka take seems to have options for all different types of Indian food (street food, north Indian, south Indian, etc.), and it's all very delicious. We had the Kesar pista milkshake as a dessert, and the flavor was amazing!! Highly recommend this to anyone craving Indian food that is delicious and fresh! Wish they'd bring this out to the US!!

Was in the mood for a filling meal and decided to finally visit Tikka Take after having walked passed many times. First of all, this is a casual dining restaurant. You order and pay through a QR code at the table which is an efficient system. Service is limited to staff delivering food and drink, but there is a 'buzzer' type button on the table which will summon a server when pressed. The food is really where Tikka Take comes to life. The menu is extensive and really takes a long time to go through as all options look delicious. For a table of two we ordered a Malai Chicken Curry and Goat briyani for mains and Dahi Puri for a starter (though the puri came at the same time as the mains). This was a big portion but having climbed Kosciuszko that day, we were in the mood for a filling meal. Dahi Puris were delicious, flavours were fresh and just what i wanted. The Malai curry was superb and I would absolutely order again. The biriani was just fine however, we ordered this more because it looked cool as it was served with a 'pastry' top that you dig through - this was our least favorite dish as we found that there was not as much flavour as the other dishes. Overall, I would recommend Tikka Take if you are seeking a casual restaurant with a lot of options and food with great flavour.

Meal was OK. Drink promised alot but what was delivered didn't match the picture. Garlic naan was light and more crispy than doughy. Meal was tasty although lamb wasn't as tender or moist as some other better Indian restaurants. Gravy was nice. Waiters stood a little too close when asking how meal was. Thought he wanted to join me for dinner, or at least sit on my lap...lol

Really beautiful and delicious meals. I had the Lamb Rogan Josh with garlic naan ($24.31 when I paid at the register as my phone wouldn't work with the app). My friends had the Butter Chicken with rice and Chicken Korma with rice. They also ordered 2 serves of plain naan. Those dishes came to $48. Really good serving sizes for all meals. Meals on nearby tables looked amazing too.

We went here for our team lunch. Pros: 1. Good atmosphere 2. Not lots of crowd at that time 3. Food came quickly Cons: 1. Average food taste. 2. Customer service need to be improved. No one came to take orders. I went to their desk and ordered. 3. No cutlery provided and requested a few times. 4. Unable to get a tax receipt due to some issues with their system. 5. Biryani was tasteless 6. Expensive

Food and service is great as always. A very popular restaurant, make sure you make a booking. The only negative thing I can think of is that they use heaps of plastic straws here for the drinks. It would be much more environmentally friendly if they switch to paper or bio-degradable straws.

Best place in Canberra to have authentic Indian Street food and delicacies. The food is really tasty and the ambiance is really good. Been there twice and will definitely a must visit whenever we are in the city.

There was so much oil in my daal curry and roti that it felt like drinking from a vat. Service is non-existent, the button on our table did not work. The two stars are for the food, which tasted good. But, as I said, there was way too much oil. Why this place is so popular, I do not understand.

  • 5/5 Jaala K. 3 years ago on Google
Outstanding South Indian cuisine. There were dozens of meals suited to various dietary requirements, such as gluten free etc. Food was served quickly and was easily the best tikka masala we've had. I'd recommend booking if you're planning on going on a Saturday night.

  • 3/5 hardika j. 3 years ago on Google
Smell and ambiance is good...but food totally depends on how lucky you are and how crowded is the place... Initially it was good but slowly taste went down ☹️☹️ Because if the place is crowded food is not so great... I have visited so many times and tried so many different things but trust me it's different always... Same dish will taste different everytime.... Also tried doing take away OMG ITS WORST....😖😖😖

We came Sydney to Canberra and decided to had our lunch after saw reviews but really disappointed because Momos were cold, bad customer service, not enough stuff inside pani puri. Strong flavour. We pressed button and waited for 7 minutes no one responded. In general lot of things have to be improved.

I went there after booking a table and I was 30 min late. I know it’s a busy restaurant, but their website says that you can come within 60 min. I was greeted with the words from one of the guys working there that, “you are 30 min late”. No one wants to hear that. Then ne girl got my order wrong and she was like now you drank it and left. I was there for the first time how am I suppose to know if the drink is wrong. Then let’s come to food and service. No one greets you, they just throw the food in the table and go. Dinning in is a full fledge service, if they can’t do that because of the volume of customers then they should close it down.

Love Tikka Take for a casual dinner. Recommend sitting outside if you don’t want to smell like curry. Very tasty foods and cheap drinks - faves are the butter chicken, tikka masala and masala dosa - keeping it basic b*tch style. Drinks are great but be prepared to wait.

Make sure you book a table as it’s very busy and the cue is long to get in. Make sure you write your order on the paper and press the buzzer. No one told us when they brought us inside from the long cue. It was very busy and the poor staff looked stressed. Uber eat drivers darting in and out and tables with reservations on them had no one sitting there while we were there the whole time.... The design of place looked very modern and appealing. There seemed many people young old and families there and made it appealing so we expected some delicious food. The food we got was very tasty but it came very late as we waited a very long time The naan breads were fresh and large and tasty We were very dissatisfied with the tiny morals of meat in our curries both my husband and I had 4 and a half pieces of meat swimming in a bowl of sauce. The couple next to us were unhappy as the wife waited so long for her food and it arrived finally but her husband had finished his off... Then they got her order wrong so she waited a further 15 mins, poor thing Taste good Over priced for the small quantity you pay for Understaffed Won’t be going there again sorry to say

Very important note before reviewing food. There are so many nails on the wooden cladding on the wall, at head level when you sit on a chair. See the attached photo, zoom in and see the nails. Please be careful. Vegetarian snacks are yum. I would not recommend any meat items at all. Chilli chicken and chicken fried rice were a big disappointment. Very bland and lacks any taste. Tikka take has always been popular for indian vegetarian snacks.
