Aspen Island is man made. The small island which is home to the National Carillon, will be renamed in June 2022, Queen Elizabeth 2 Island. 70 years on the Throne. The National Carillon has 57 bells, it was initially with 53 bells, and increased to 55 bells, during refurbishment in 2003-4. 2019 - 20 upgrade the carillon with a new clavier, a fully replaced transmission and additional of 2 new bells. An iconic landmark along the Lake Burley Griffin skyline, and a great spot for photos. The scenery around is beautiful and it's a great place for a picnic or a walk. Music is played during the day, but it's currently closed for renovation, as of early-2022. The Carillion is located a short walk across the bridge on a marked pathway, suitable for strollers or wheelchair users.

The Carillon is a very peaceful and tranquil place. If you time your arrival when it is playing it makes the trip even more worthwhile. It is a fantastic place to take images around the lake, especially in autumn where you can see the beautiful colours of the deciduous trees.

Peaceful and tranquil place to visit. Great for the concerts they put on here. A very pleasant walk around the grounds. Picnic and BBQ facilities are available here, too.

Beautiful spot - great for a walk at sunrise or set, and a lovely place for a picnic when the weather’s a bit better. Worth checking their program as they sometimes have folks playing the carillon.

Beautiful and serene. Here there are toilets, BBQ and walking tracks bordered by weeping willows and Lake Burley Griffin. Times may have changed but I think the Carillon plays at 7:30am and then at 8:15am. Plenty of places to jog or just lose around taking in the scenery. You can also can walk to and from Commonwealth Park and Regatta Point.

Is situated in Aspen Island in central Canberra. Is an artificial lake, but still pretty. The carillon is in regular use, chiming every quarter-hour and playing a short tune on the hour along with tours and recitals on many days. You have good toilets and BBQ area. Beautiful green and open space.

We hired bikes and rode around the waterfront to the National Carillon. Then had a lie on the grass in the sun. Was a really fun and fairly relaxing way to spend the afternoon in Canberra. Lovely spot to relax. Next time we visit here, we'll bring a picnic blanket and some food.

Located on the Aspen island off the Lake Burley Griffin is the “National Carillon”. It was gifted by the UK to City of Canberra for the Golden jubilee of founding of National Capital of Australia Canberra. It has 55 bronze bells and a great structure in itself. Worth having a look, can have walk around and picnic nearby as well.

You have to pay for parking but it’s a lovely spot to stop for picnic. I just stopped to have a look and go underneath the tower and take photos. Just another cool thing to do in Canberra!

Very unique attraction which has performances on Sundays. Nicely landscaped areas with plenty of places to have a picnic or a walk in the park. Great stop over whilst walking the lake circuit.

Every time i come to the ACT I visit this spot. It is intriguing. I would dearly love to be there when it is played. Failing that it is still a great little spot to suit on a bench and look out across the lake.
