Nice old English pub style but can get very busy. Food was good and pretty quick compared to the amount of patrons there on a Sunday. Plenty of parking across the road and you can reserve tables for lunch. Live music on a Sunday. Great outdoor areas and good for families. A few people also brought their dogs as well.

My family and I had dinner at the George last week. For entree we had the salt and pepper calamari and cheesy garlic bread which were both delicious. For main, we had nachos, chicken parmigiana, sirloin steak and the steak and guinness pie. My nachos were delicious, but my parents and partner weren’t wowed with their meals unfortunately. That being said, the atmosphere at this pub is awesome and I would still return, but would probably stick to the dishes on the ‘to share’ menu as they were the stand outs. I also have to mention the mulled wine which is a 10/10 in winter!

A great feed for lunch with the family after visiting Cockington Green. Instantly when walking into the premises, I feel like I was back in the UK in a traditional English pub, the place looks great. 👌 The food was great also and a good selection in the menu. Well presented and tasted good. The family friendly part threw me a little bit, we were kind of hoping to see a kids playground within, but could only see a small section for kids which had some old toys and blocks in there. The kids high chairs need some TLC; we used some wipes on them before we used one and the amount of dirt/grime we wiped off was gross.

I absolutely love coming to The George, whether it's just for a drink or a feed as well. Their food is normally delicious and large in size however I recently had the Shroom Burger which I would not recommend. Unfortunately the shroom patty tasted like a cheap supermarket patty and didn't taste shroomy at all. Will definitely be back though 🙂

The atmosphere makes you feel as if you are in England, in one of their pubs. The staff are amazing, food is even more delicious, a great place to come, relax & chill with your family & friends

Edit: On second thoughts I feel this deserves 5 well earned stars. I like bringing the family to The George Harcourt Inn. It’s a nice place to hang out for all ages and they have got a variety of seating both indoors and outdoors. The atmosphere is lively and sometimes it can get a bit loud depending on where you are sitting and how happy the people around you are. We got a nice peaceful place inside. The food was very satisfying and tasty, especially the awesome wings. Portions were generous and well presented. Service was reasonable and the wait at the bar not too long. Toilets are reasonable, however the chairs were a bit rickety and clean ups a bit slow. Overall the experience was good. Would I go back....The answer is definitely a Yes!

Nice classic pub with the feels of being in old English pub. Was great to see the fire roaring on a cold Canberra day. Ordered the George's Pasta was great not too spicy, great taste wait wasn't long. Service was friendly, polite and professional. Wonderful location, large outside seating area, plenty of parking price was fair. Definitely add this destination to your list if visiting.

Ahhh, I love this place, I just wish the food was better!!! I had a burger recently which I waited about 40 minutes for. The photo makes it look good hey! It was so dry, the bread tasted a bit stale and the chips were over cooked.

Just had lunch, it is our 2nd time here, and the food is absolutely amazing!! Pretty good value, too. The meals are huge and soooo delicious. I had the steak and Guinness pie, can't believe I finished it all. Can't wait to come back again. Even our 6 year old managed to polish off her huge lunch. Would give 6 stars if I could. 😋

I love our recent discovery. As a regular visitor from Melbourne for work trips, this has become regular spot for at least one meal. It is always humming with activity and is relaxed and friendly. We are always blown away by the staff. They are really special - helpful and patient and always impressive. So far they have always managed to squeeze us in despite how busy they are.

My god the chicken wings are fantastic! Highly recommend. The only thing is they didn't have any bags available for takeaway pickup which was a bit inconvenient especially if you have a big order, so make sure to bring your own.

I really enjoyed the blackboard menu red curry chicken. Delicious. Everyone in my group was treated respectfully and enjoyed their meals too. Good atmosphere. Thank you 👍

It was a busy Friday night and we could only get outside seating under one of the tents. It was a cool night and they had provided both a wood fire and gas fire which helped warm us up. Food service was quick and tasted good. I recommend the salt and pepper calamari and the bangers and mash. Live music was also an added bonus.the

Work Xmas party in the marquee at the front of the pub. Food was quite good via platters. Took a bit of time between rounds for glasses to be cleared from our tables, but the pub was quite busy. We shared the marquee and it was a bit cramped but we were able to play our Xmas music and some people danced in the corner. Overall would taste this pub.

We’ve been coming to this pub for decades. It is always an enjoyable night out. Great bar with a good selection of beers, wine and spirits. There’s plenty of space outside, and the inside areas have a great cosy atmosphere. Usually very popular so I recommend booking ahead. Kid friendly and also a good place to have a round with your mates. Live music many times a week. I can’t speak more highly of the George. It’s just a fantastic place with good food, great atmosphere, friendly staff, everything is awesome.

A beautiful establishment 💜, We called in on a stunning Sunday afternoon, the place was a hive of activity, ,Family friendly, varying age brackets from 5 and up, lots of seating out doors with grassed and paved areas, quite lovely. I can't comment personally on the menu as we haven't tried it yet , we had already eaten down nxt to HALL SHOWGROUND, but plenty of patrons chomping dwn some yummy looking dishes, alcohol was well priced @ $28 for 4 vodka & Lemonaids 😁, bar staff were all lovely and very efficient, also the EYE CANDY is pretty good ladies 😁😉..... only thing I would change is the bar area , which isn't bad, just small .AGAIN HIGHLY RECOMMEND,,, 🫶🌟

I usually love this place but…. The first Speckled Hen 10/10 The second …. Same He 3rd flat as the Dead Sea and when I brought it to the attention of the young bar person (he/him) he blamed the keg!!! He shouldn’t be pouring beer. I also asked him why i couldn’t buy a double Gin and Tonic for my friend and he just said it’s our policy, we don’t sell doubles. I said that’s funny cause his first one was a double. He just said we don’t sell doubles. I thought it was a standard measure in a bar. For what you pay to drink here the service is lacking

A fantastic night out. Lots of outdoor seating. The guy providing the live music was amazing. The food serving sizes are ENORMOUS! Definitely great value for your money. The service was fantastic and the staff were so friendly 😊

They don't know how to cook steaks. My scotch fillet was overcooked and still grissley. Old oil used for chips, so flavour was off and that dark yellow colour. Salad was a very low effort. That said I'm cooking my own steaks from now on. A $10 cut of mear should not be $40 and so disappointing.

Gotta admit, i was quite impressed with the food we received at the George Harcourt. i had the pepper squid and thoroughly enjoyed both the flavor, size and expediency. The other meals we ordered looked good and we were all happy. I've never been here before so can't judge them anymore than on this one event. If they're consistent in the kitchen, you will be happy too.

Small interior so definitely book ahead. Large outdoor seating so summer time is always a great time to visit. An English-themed pub serving some unique UK beers, however there could be more types if they were to be a true English-themed pub. Schnitzel is amazing! Definitely recommend. Good size, tasty crunchy crumb and the mushroom sauce is decent.

We love the George! Their meals are huge! Big portions, and fresh. We love the interior, and the history of the old pub. Unfortunately, this time, I ordered the Beef Bourginon, but found it far, far too salty - to the point that it was inedible. So as not to waste it, my hubby ate it. I did look for someone to give my feedback to, but was unable to locate anyone on our way out. Chef, if you're reading this, throw a few potatoes in the pot to remove the salt, it would have been perfect, but for the salt.. We will be back, but I'll choose another dish next time..

We went with a party for our son's birthday. After a fairly ordinary Spring, the day was perfect. The large outdoor area has expanded since our last visit and the place, both inside and out, was very busy. Despite the crowd, drinks were easy to get, with no queues to speak of. Food took quite a bit longer but quality was very good as usual. The atmosphere was vibrant and friendly, with quite a few parties celebrating. All in all, another most enjoyable experience at The George. We'll be back!

A true Canberra institution, the George is one of the best watering holes in the entire city. Not only do they have an excellent selection of drinks, the food is sensational!

Very good meal and beer selection. Chips could use some love but overall a lovely pub with good atmosphere.

Had Beef Vindaloo and it came out cold and just looked and tasted like Irish stew. Just get normal pub food as they don't know what Indian food is. They do good fish and chips etc.

Best pub in the Canberra with plenty of parking, food and beer 10/10, nicest looking english pub should be heritage listed in my opinion, if you haven’t been here your missing out.

Nice place, good indoor and outdoor seating and friendly staff, meals are decently sized and good quality. At the time of writing, they don't have a menu available online which is a bit annoying though.

Family friendly restaurant, great indoor and outdoor seating. Wide menu with veg and gluten free options- easily labelled. Lovely staff and family owned. Highly recommend, also great for events!

What a great atmosphere at this seemingly endless pub. With reminders of old school English pubs, this venue has lovely staff and great food. 👍🏼

A very nice, family friendly pub. They have a nice selection of food and beers available and the kids had a great time running around. I will have to try and book a table next to their very toasty fireplace in the winter time.

This is our Winchester, our favourite local. We often quote “Let's go to the George, have a nice cold pint, and wait for this all to blow over." Great pub feed, great beers and great atmosphere.
