This is historical temple and much revered by Hindu people. However, it is thoroughly miss managed. There are numerous shops all around which completely obscure the temple. Direction to temple can be be confusing if you ask shopkeepers. Just go through the arch that you will see on your right. This is the shortest way to find temple. Temple compound is filthy. Interior of temple is not much better either. There is mad rush. Do not remove your shoes too soon as every shopkeeper offers/asks you to remove shoes. If you do make sure you remember which you removed your shoes at. Better take picture of shop and lane. Best to carry a bag to remove shoes and put inside to carry with you. Car parking is another mess. On weekday late morning we found cars parked for a kilometer long stretch. Remaining road was jammed by two lanes of cares- one in each direction. Scooters fill in all the space in between cars. Walk at you risk if you do not mind a bone being broken, chances are not high but be on guard. Not worth going. As we say God is every where so visit a temple near to your home and put all donations only in donation boxes.

A spiritual place around 29 km from rishikesh. Many devotees come there to worship Lord Shiva. There is no particular parking area, you have to park on the road side. Roads are available till the temple. A bit of improvement is required to make the place more beautiful and clean.

Neelkanth Mahadev Temple, the supernatural abode of Lord Shiva, is situated at an altitude of about 5500 feet above sea level in Yamkeshwar block of Pauri district, at a distance of 26 km from Rishikesh. This temple is at the confluence of Madhumati and Pankaja rivers at the foothills of Manikut mountain. Although there is a constant flow of devotees throughout the year for darshan in Neelkanth temple, but in the month of Shravan, the maximum number of Shiva devotees reach here for Jalabhishek carrying Kanwar.

Neelkanth Mahadev Temple is a Hindu temple dedicated to Nilkanth, an aspect of Lord Shiva. The temple is about 32 km from Rishikesh in the Pauri Garhwal district of Uttarakhand, India. The temple architecture is very much influenced by the Dravidian style of temple architecture The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is a popular Hindu pilgrimage site. It is surrounded by dense forests and is adjacent to the mountain ranges of Nar-Narayan. It is enveloped between the valleys of Manikoot, Brahmakoot, and Vishnukoot and is located at the confluence of the rivers Pankaja and Madhumati. The temple has a Gopura or the shikhara as in any Dravidian style temple and is raised high in a tiered way in pyramid style. Motifs and Friezes are carved on these towers. The shikhara of the temple is adorned with sculptures of various Devas and Asuras depicting the Samudramanthan. Neelkanth Mahadev in the form of Shivalinga is the presiding deity of the temple. The temple complex also has a natural spring where devotees usually take a holy bath before entering the premises of surrounded by dense forests. Holy place , You will enjoy the ride while travelling to neelkanth temple full of Hill Nature and Greenery Must Visit Once. Neelkanth is an ancient temple, it is said that this is the same place where Lord Shiva drank the poison emanating from the ocean. If you have your own vehicle then you can go very comfortably. If you do not have your own vehicle then you will have to taxi, sharing autos do not go that high. Please DRIVE CAREFULLY because the road is too short and very sharp and curved turnings are there also , Don’t drink and drive . However, it is thoroughly miss managed. There are numerous shops all around which completely obscure the temple. Direction to temple can be be confusing if you ask shopkeepers. Do not remove your shoes too soon as every shopkeeper offers/asks you to remove shoes. If you do make sure you remember which you removed your shoes at. Better take picture of shop and lane. Little bit rough n tough journey for heart patient and old age people. At an altitude of approx. 7,000 ft. you feel in the lap of natural beauty.

Scenic view during whole travel through your own car is mesmerizing. At an altitude of approx. 7,000 ft. you feel in the lap of natural beauty. Drive safely or get drive with professional drivers in hilly areas as so much blind turns, ups and downs, no side fencing alongside ditch, etc. may horrify you. खाने-पीने एवं ठहरने की उत्तम व्यवस्था है (paid) मंदिर के आस पास Little bit rough n tough journey for heart patient and old age people.

It is a good place to visit if you are in rishikesh or Haridwar. The temple itself is just the destination, the most beautiful part is the Journey to the temple, wholesome and Beautiful. 24 KM drive from rishikesh is so soothing and eye-pleasing. Especially if you travel in morning, you will get to see some awesome views, Excellent whether and Enjoyable ride.

This Temple, located near Rishikesh in Uttarakhand, India, is a renowned Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is situated in a picturesque setting amidst the lush forests of the Himalayas. Devotees and tourists often praise the temple for its spiritual ambiance and natural beauty. The temple's unique architecture, with its intricate stone carvings, is also a point of admiration. Visitors often speak highly of the peaceful and serene atmosphere surrounding the temple, making it a place for meditation and reflection. However, like any religious site, individual experiences may vary, and it's essential to respect the sanctity and customs of the temple

What can you expect when you are in Mahadev's lap. Feels like moksh, salvation. There are many shops, and shopsellers or shopkeepers will insist you to buy something from their shops like pooja's thali where many things are included in thali like honey and other things as well which are not allowed in Mandir or temple. Basically, these things are not allowed in main temple or Shiv Ling but, it is allowed in replica of shiv ling which is situated near the temple. So it is your choice.

According to Hindu mythology, the place got its name after the popular tale of Lord Shiva consuming poison. Due to the intake of the poison, his throat turned blue; hence the name Neelkanth was appropriate for the site. Neelkanth Mahadev Temple is a holy and famous temple located at a distance of 32 kilometers from Rishikesh. Situated on a hill at an altitude of 1330 meters, Neelkanth Mahadev Temple is one of the most famous temples of Lord Shiva. Nelkanth Temple is a famous pilgrimage site near Rishikesh, this temple is situated above Swargashram adjacent to the Nar Narayan mountain range..... The walls of the temple depict the entire story of Manthan. The inner temple complex is equally divine and beautiful. A sacred Shivalinga is situated in this holy temple. Devotees tie a sacred thread to a huge Peepal tree and make a wish. A natural spring is situated in the temple where devotees take holy bath..... The visiting time for the temple is between 5.00 am to 6.00 pm The way of neelkanth temple is so mesmerizing n soothing....but be careful it's too risky also... No fee is required to enter the premises.. If you are interested to carry out the rituals conducted early in the morning, you should be empty-stomach to take part in the sacrament....

Temple is beautiful and Devine with lovely mountains around but alas it lacked public utilities no clean washrooms even for ladies and children. Wondering what bus full pilgrims do to relieve themselves. How unclean and unhygienic the surroundings must be.only bushes and jungle is there for you to cope with. I hope someone listening

This ancient temple is of great religious importance for Hindus. Lord Shiva, after saving the three worlds from the Poison, did his penance here for 60,000 years and established a Shiva Linga here. The visit was a disappointment, especially because of my huge longing to visit this temple since I was a child. The temple area is small. The management is haphazard. People are irresponsible and they just litter everywhere. Approach roads are so narrow you feel sad for yourself and for your car. The traffic is too much on weekends and the roads are insufficient and in a very bad condition. People are arrogant. All in all, finding peace in temples is a falsy thing today. They are more like money minting machines for Prasad vendors and souvenirs sellers. Even the chai pakoda at nearby eateries is bland, devoid of any taste. At least I feel good that I had the darshan. Har har Mahadev. Won't recommend for anyone planning a visit. Not worth it, especially during weekends.

Not maintained properly all. I do not mean to disrespect but the environment around and especially inside temple needs to be cleaned and maintained. Local people and government need to check on this asap. People outside temple keep telling you to buy things, more like forcing you which is not good. In short it is good, but needs a lot of cleaning and maintenance.

The Neelkanth Mahadev temple is situated near Rishikesh, on a hill at a height of 1330 meters. It is surrounded by dense forest. On 14th May 2022, I had the privilege of visiting this temple. As per mythology, this is a place where Lord shiva consumed the poison originated from Samundra Manthan. This place is almost 30 kilometres from Rishikesh. A sacred shivling a is situated in this temple. Apart from the shivlinga there’s one old peepal tree where all the devotees makes a wish and then tied the sacred tread Mode of Travel: Earlier the private vehicles were not allowed to go up in the hills, but now the private vehicles are allowed. Only thing private vehicles has to parked their vehicles 1.5 km before temples. However the local jeeps, car are allowed to go near the temple. Some of the devotees love to reach the temple via 22 km trek started from Ram jhoola.

The holy place where Lord Shiva managed to get rid of venom effect after samudra Manthan he consumed. He entered into samadhi for thousands of years here. To reach this place you should reach to taxi stand after CROSSING the ram jhula at Rishikesh only else you will face difficulty in getting taxi at near Ramjhula parking where some brokers are mis guiding the pilgrims going for Neel kanth. It creates panic and wastage of time at Ramjhula parking.

The location is amazing. You would love the view of the place and then of course there's the temple Neelkanth of the Dev Bhoomi. Perfect for people who would love some spirituality on to a beautiful path. I don't get why the local panchayat charges for maintenance when we're already paying the road taxes. Overall it's a good spot if you're travelling Rishikesh for two days at least.

Temple dedicated to lord Shiva who drink poison to save world. After a long mountain can ride you need to take a walk for 2 Km to reach the most awesome astonishing Shiva neelkanth Mahadev temple . Things to remember: Before you start the journey drink lemonade to be hydrated. Take small breaks . Entry and exit of the temple is too far away to try to keep your shoes at the exit point , this will help you to exit easily after darsan pooja . Otherwise you will have to return back to get your shoes. Follow the arrow sign to reach the temple after submitting shoes because there are too many shops and small temples which can cause confusion. So follow the arrow sign or ask after every turn which way is to the temple . Only gangajal is allowed in the temple ,so other staff shopkeepers sell it only for their belief and profit. Other stuff people can use outside the temple in a place. After completing the journey you can have food or snacks in local shops and they have two restaurants there too vanjanam and the food court. Fully AC and self service . The views on the road side are so cool and nature is full of beauty.

It's a nice place to visit if you're looking for a devotional and hindu religion temple. As it's name indicates neelkanth Mahadev, it is a temple of lord Shiva which is approx. 22km from Rishikesh local market.

It is Hindu religious place. A temple of Lord Shiva located on a valley. Temple is ancient and hold enormous value in Hindu belief system. Views from valley is breathtaking as you will see river Ganga playing on the lap on mountains. I will suggest you to visit early in the morning because there will long queue at noon. You can get a cab on sharing basis (320 rs per person). Everyone who comes to Rishikesh visits Neelkanth temple, so you will find fellow passenger within few minutes. You can also book entire cab in about 1000-1500 Rs. Happy visit.

We started our journey from Haridwar , first we reached at garud chatti then we reached there after approximately one hour. Try to start your journey early in the morning so that your vehicle can reach there otherwise your vehicle will be detained before approximately 1.5 km, then you will get another taxi which will charge 15 Rupees per passenger , right now there is huge rush and to DARSHAN it will take half to one hour Route is good and enjoy the natural beauty along with rafting
