Oh dear… Mainz Cathedral or St. Martin's Cathedral is located near the historical center and a market square. This 1000-year-old Roman Catholic cathedral is the site of the episcopal see of the Bishop of Mainz. Like everything in the City this monumental building is a mosaic of styles. The fusion between Romanesque (main), Gothic (chapels and bell towers) and Baroque (roof) are serving us a real architectural treat. Over the centuries, seven coronations of kings took place in Mainz Cathedral.

A Romanesque masterpiece in a German town that you may never have heard of (until they teamed up with Pfizer and started developing a vaccine against COVID-19 here). Once the greatest Temple in Central Europe (back in the 11th century), still a spectacular landmark and the enduring symbol of Mainz.

It’s a must visit while visiting Rhine region. The remarkable cathedral and its dome sits in the old town. The architecture is magnificent with high arches, tombs for historical influential people and central old sculptures. It’s captivating just wandering around. And feels so peaceful sitting inside. There is a nice courtyard inside the cathedral.

Must see cathedral. It’s majestic size. I did not want to compare it to others - but it’s one of the biggest one (except Vatican) in Europe. Absolutely must see.

Absolute Empfehlung!

Wow! A sandstone cathedral 1000 + years old . A few renovations outside when I visited but al good. Inside was spectacular and. You could feel the history in the church as well as below in the crypt.

It’s nice - there were renovations going on though but you still able to see the cathedral. Have a walk a round and maybe a cup of coffee - it’s beautiful.

Wow wow wow. This place was so pretty and so well preserved. The stain glass was incredible and so well taken care of. This place is a testament to construction and engineering of the time.

Free entry. You can also donate some coins at collection points scattered around. The details inside the church are absolutely incredible - it's so stunning. I wish we had done a walking tour of the church and that there had been some brochures in English, but the parts we could translate and learn about, was fantastic. There is some refurbishment happening so you can't access every part, but it is so beautiful. Well worth the trip.

Being from the US and knowing the cathedral is over 1000 years old makes this an absolute must visit each time I'm in the area - not to mention the fact that the Mainz Cathedral is breathtaking!! Kind and gentle reminder - put your phone on vibrate as sound def carries!

Like many European cathedrals, this is one worth visiting. Despite the construction work outside it's still accessible although the current entry doesn't exactly stand out. Expect the usual beautiful stained glass, statues and relics.

One of the main Churches of the city of Mainz. Wonderful place in and outside as well. Many good old sculptures inside the church. It is about 1.2 km from Mainz HBF

Mainz Dom has the baroque vibes protected and Roman culture is engraved inside. There are so many details to be checked. You should visit and enjoy the sightseeing. There are thombs underneath for the old bishops and also a small room for praying. Furthermore if you want to learn more about there is a museum inside with a small entrance fee.

Came here on a Saturday afternoon with my husband and three kids ages 6, 4, and 2. This is the best cathedral I've been to with kids, mainly because there was beautiful organ music playing the whole time that made it much less stressful having semi-loud children. There was SO much to look at, and we loved strolling through all the different side rooms and halls. I'm not normally a cathedral person but we thoroughly enjoyed this one. Not a ton of things that the kids wanted to touch but couldn't - most of it is high up where they can't reach, or blocked off. The bathrooms were so-so; 50 cents per person and small. We parked nearby at Parkhaus am Brand, which was an easy-to-get-to underground garage and very reasonably priced (12 euros for 7ish hours).

One of the cathedrals' to be visited while in Germany. It is huge, and is architecturally beautiful. There is a serene silence in the cathedral which helps one to sit in silent reflection. I make it a point to go to the cathedral, whenever I visit Mainz.

Brilliant church! Although it is a bit dark it is very nice. This Cathedral has a very long history. It is huge and has got many altars on its side.

Mainz Cathedral or St. Martin's Cathedral is located near the historic center of Mainz, Germany, and the pedestrian market square. This 1,000-year-old Roman Catholic cathedral is the seat of the diocese of the Bishop of Mainz.

Beautiful romanesque cathedral in the heart of Mainz. I have visited it multiple times in the past. Yesterday, I attended the New Year's concert with organ music and music by the Cathedral Brass Orchestra (Mainzer Dombläser). The program selection was a sheer delight.

This is one of my favorite cathedrals in all of Europe. There is just something special about it. I did tour the museum (its interesting to see the varied history). My favorite spot is the small prayer chapel which is the most simple in architecture but also the most serene
