Quiet, calm reminder of the cruelty of humans to one another. No one need starve if we share. This tragedy was avoidable but for the lords who kept their wealth while their subjects died.

Well worth a stop off in Donegal. Very poignant and moving place to remember the poor people that perished during this gross atrocity. Makes you count your blessings and give thanks to God for every need met..Car park and easy access to memorial. Just outside Donegal town centre.

Very symbolic. One place to direct our thanks to all the loved ones who had to die to inspire their families .... leaving behind for us the strong desire to search and fight for our rights.

This is a place to reflect on the lives of our ancestors in the time of the Famine, the lives lost through hunger in the 40's.

(Translated by Google) A pot full of garbage for lack of care (and uncivil people, of course) and about 50 square meters for a small memorial, in a place outside and without signaling. Unless you want to put a tic saying "I was there", it's not worth it.

When DNA gets a bit more advanced we should all find out if our poor ancestors are buried here.

When you visit the uncounted and unmarked, mass grave site at Donegal, you won't see much. But those who come aware of the dark history of the protracted framine, may take enough time to imagine the starving families, many with infants and small children, standing in the queue only to receive one tiny bowl of turnip or cabbage and seaweed gruel. For three years (including the historically cruel winter of 1847), that was about all these people had to sustain them. Many thousands died or were forced to emigrate. I will never forget my visit here. Thanks to all of the concerned citizens of Donegal who recognize the cemetery as sacred space and place.
