Don't come here for the castle ruin (a corner of a tower). There is really nothing to see here for you can't get close to it. The bridge close to it is quite nicer. You can do paddle boats here

Weeks after we returned home, I happened to enlarge my Doonbeg Castle pictures and was amazed to see a man's face looking out of the top window!! Caught on camera my Google Pixel 2 at 12:21pm and 12:28pm 6-21-19 while on our Ireland trip.

You can go look at it but I wouldn't get too close as there are thorns and not much to see other than the façade. No need to go out of your way to see it.
