This museum rivals any other aircraft museum in the world. Having visited the Smithsonian Udvar Hazy center earlier this year, that should help understand the gravity of my statement. The quantity of aircraft not only on display, but also able to enter and explore is astounding. Some of these aircraft can’t be found anywhere else in the world. The real show stopper is the C-47 that dropped the 101st Airborne on D-Day and Market Garden. Again, not only on display but also available to enter and check out with your own hands. Astounding. The aircraft is complete with battle damage from D-Day as confirmed by the former crew chief when he visited years ago. I have never felt history like this place. Having just recently watched Band of Brothers also made this exhibit hit hard. I also have to brag on the staff. The museum was hosting two special events the day we visited which had the small crew of volunteers spread thin. The museum operations manager (Michael) saw that my family wasn’t able to see some areas because of the events and offered to personally take us into the control tower and the C-47…and he did it with a smile. Being located within an active Air Force base is a huge plus. The chance to see active aircraft flying is very high. We were lucky enough to see a C-17 doing touch and goes right next to the parking lot. Lastly, the gift shop. They could do like other places and gouge visitors, but they don’t. Everything is very reasonable. Even the snacks/drinks. Make the drive from DC or Philly to see this museum. You won’t regret it.

What a great and historical gem. The staff on site are very knowledgeable and nice. The C-5 flies over us everyday and to walk in one you realize how big it really is. I love WW2 history and they have a nice display.....well done! I plan on going back soon as the first time we were there close to closing and I want to really take it all in

Lots of planes here some rare ones that you don't find in other museums. I suppose it's because they are predominantly cargo planes as that's what's mostly been based at dover. They have some ww2 aircraft inside that are nicely setup. They also have the only C5 available to tour.

Spent Father's Day visiting this museum via a Harley Davidson 50 States stop. I was just amazed at how well this museum is laid out and well documented with exhibits, stories, and airplanes you can walk in. Volunteers were amazing. Very relaxing atmosphere with no long lines or loud talking as you view the exhibits. Hall of Honor was very reverent and a must-see and experience. Job well done!

I have visited several times now and each time is just as good as the last. The volunteers here are exceptional, former service personnel who worked with and around these planes and facilities for many years. They bring a wealth of personal knowledge and stories to relate about each aircraft. The exhibits inside are great (they even have a flight simulator where you can try and land a Cessna at the airstrip outside), detailing various aspects and time periods. The planes themselves are amazing. On non-rainy days you can go inside many of them, but even when it's wet, it's still worthwhile to be able to walk around and see these magnificent aircraft. You get to appreciate the size and capabilities of them, and how well they've been cared for. For what it's worth, it's also free entry, but would strongly encourage you to make a donation to help keep this treasure running for decades to come and so new planes and exhibits can be added. Go take a look, it's worth every second of your time.

Really cool vintage aircraft on display and incredibly friendly veterans to help guide you through. It’s primarily a cargo plane hub so not many fighter jets on display but you’re able to go in and out of many of the old cargo planes. Air Force Two on display too.

This is a wonderful experience for children and adults as well who love planes. We visited this FREE museum at the Dover AFB on August 13, 2023 where you will find full size Military Aircrafts including the Air Force One Plane and so many others. Wonderful Veterans give you a full tour in detail. We were able to go inside of many if the planes at the museum but visit early in the summer as it gets hot fast inside. They even have a control tower you can climb and view. The gift shop had some neat artifacts for purchase as well. Highly, highly reccommended.

We were so fortunate that we got an opportunity to visit this beautiful place. Loved to see all the planes. They had two planes open for visitors where we could see the inside of the planes. This was the first time I entered a military aircraft. It was indeed an awesome experience!!!!

A very impressive display of military aircraft from World War two up to recent times. There is a display at each telling you about each plane and the use for each of them. It looks like there could be tours in some of the planes. There is an inside hanger that I did not get to go in. I will be coming back for a better look.

Impressive museum about Air Force history from WWII to today. Tour guides that live their voluntary work. A lot to see and the best it's free, but donations are welcome

Awesome experience. The collection of airplanes to view was really cool. The guides were funny and very knowledgeable. Lots of jokes. Very friendly and all were veterans. Full gift shop too.

A decent sized museum with indoor and outdoor displays. Lol, so best to time your visit for an hour in the Great outdoors. Visually impressive. We enjoyed a 2 hour meander, reading the signs, enjoying the displays.

A better museum than I had expected. They have a number of aircraft you can go inside of. An Air Force One is one of them. Volunteers are both knowledgeable and enthusiastic. The gift shop is far better than you would expect for its size.

Absolutely loved this place. My girlfriend is 20 year retired Air Force herself. So it was cool to go see it with her. Then she was ab to take me on the actual base also. That was awesome to. They have guides that tell you about all the stuff there and they are very knowledgeable. They even have the old flight tower you can go up and hear the chatter from the planes coming and going.

Took the kids here for a fun day trip. We were not disappointed! It was a fantastic museum with great exhibits, and friendly staff. The majority of the staff members are Air Force and Navy veterans that are very knowledgeable on the aircraft and supporting equipment. You may request for a tour guide at no cost also. We loved this museum and highly recommend you take stop by for a visit. Additionally, there are free to use wheelchairs and motorized mobility scooters. We are planning a future revisit for sure.

First timer here. Loved the experience! Free entry, plenty of parking, lovely veteran volunteers. There were three to four planes open for a tour inside. There is a hanger where there are a few exhibits but most of the actual planes are outside.

My wife and I had a blast looking at everything in this Museum. There was an Air Force veteran hanging out when we got there. He offered to give us a tour. It was great. He spent two hours walking us around and giving us good history lesson on everything in the museum. The tour of the C5 Galaxy is the best part of it.

Great Veterans running this great Gem to learn from the men that experienced it personally...the kids will absolutely love it and all the planes and gift shop and plenty of parking . Don't forget to take the kids up to the control tower... awesome.. admission is free and no wait or tickets required but tips or donations are appreciated as they work really hard to ensure your family has a great experience. Ask questions as they are very smart and knowledgeable

What a gem of a place! We are so glad we stopped here. Bill Whited was the best volunteer and tour guide. He took so much time with us and shared so much more insight and knowledge that it made our visit so personable. And after walking through the C5, we stepped out of it to see an actual C5 taking off. We'll remember this moment forever. Thank you Bill for the insight and laughter. It was great!

Fantastic experience and very friendly staff. There were a substantial number of various aircraft and the displays were very informative. You really get an appreciation for the incredible engineering that went into designing these aircraft as well as getting a glimpse of what the many servicemen involved in their use and operation experienced. Getting to enter many of the aircraft was amazing and I would highly recommend asking a guide to take you on a tour (you need to be escorted by one to enter most/all of the aircraft open to visitors). The guide was very knowledgeable and was happy to walk us through many of the exhibits. The guided tours are free too! It's great to visit even for an hour but definitely recommend giving yourself at least 3 hours to explore the museum. If you're lucky, you might even see some aircraft taking off or landing at the air force base next door.

What an incredible experience! We stopped on a whim because I am an Air Force Veteran and this place and the people did not disappoint! All the veterans and staff there had such amazing stories, real life accounts and they are all volunteers! Brought tears to my eyes! ❤️

Fantastic place for Military Aviation enthusiasts. There aren't many small planes here. It's mostly the 30 or so largest cargo, tankers, and support planes in the Air Force inventory. If you go on the 3rd Saturday of the month, all of them are open for tours on the inside. The day I went was a Tuesday and there were only two of the outdoor planes open - a massive C5, and a C-130. A few others were open earlier but closed because of hot weather making the inside of the planes unbearable. In the hanger there are many dioramas and even a B-17. They are closed Mondays, so call ahead to make sure you are going to be there when they are open. The planes themselves are kept up and they were in the process of repainting 3 of them. The staff is knowledgeable and very willing to answer any question you have. There's also a gift shop with lots of aviation related items.

If you're an aviation fan you have to visit this museum. It's less than an hour for Rehoboth Beach and features a variety of Piston powers propeller planes and jets. It was wonderful to see vintage aircraft well preserved in all their glory. Most of aircraft were transport/ cargo planes and you can actually go inside them....is that cool 😎 or what! Situated close to Dover, AFB, you may catch a glimpse of operational "supers" C5M galaxy and "C17s too. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable, and the gift shop is definitely a must. Since we visited on a Sunday it was like we had the place to ourselves. Special thanks to all the staff and volunteers that are the heart beat of this museum.

This is a great museum with free admission. We took our grandson to see the planes and exhibits on air transport and refueling tech through the years. The volunteers took time to talk with us and share their experiences.

This place is great. Recommend a tour from one of the retired guys. The cost is donations only (my kind of price - free)! Inside museum and outdoor airplane graveyard. Several planes that you can go in. Lots of history and one of a kinds. I am not a big Airplane guy, but it was very interesting. I do like history and how things work. I had three teenagers and they also enjoyed it. Visited on a Friday, but don't think it gets too busy any day of the week.
