Please do not take your dogs to get groomed here. My dog got severely cut around his ear and had to be rushed to the vet. These groomers are not held to any standards and lack empathy. My dog is still recovering and still finds himself and myself in extreme distress. If I could give 0 stars I would. They don’t deserve to be in service.

Leo has his puppy training here and he loves getting to bond with his classmates. It doesn't hurt that he gets to get treats after we wrap up class and browse the great product selection.

Really nice people, this store has a much wider selection of cat food than the one near me. Visiting here makes me wonder why I don't own lizards anymore. Very fun creatures to take care of.

We(my Husband & I were walkins w/a groomer for our puppy ADORABLE n Lynwood). After waiting 30 mins. He tells us he doesn't hv the clippers to trim our Adorable how we wanted her🤦🏾‍♀️🤷🏾‍♀️ My husband called PETCO & was able to make an same day appt! Thanks Blair & All the Super Nice staff! Attentive staff, took care of my needs as soon as I asked for help or needed answer to my questions. What a great service! They always open cash registers as soon as they see a couple of people waiting in line.

So, I took my dog to get a bath. I paid extra for the essential service because my dog has skin issues. Apparently they don’t express your dogs anal glands unless you specifically tell them to, and that was one of the primary motivations for us taking her to a groomer. I assumed because it was listed as a part of the base service, which I paid for, that it would happen without me having to specifically ask for it. Anywho, we called the store back two hours later when my dogs glands started leaking everywhere and she was visibly uncomfortable. They told us we had to specifically ask them to do it and if we need it done we can go to a vets office. Do better.

Lack of cashiers and the bathroom condition was sickening. Jonathan was working as cashier on both registers at the same time. He was doing the best he could considering one of the customers asked about 10-15 questions. He called over the inter come for help and no one came so he called again and finally a female employee walked up slowly and complained to him that he had cut her break short 4 minutes not what a customer wants to hear while waiting and the line kept growing. I used the bathroom and it was filthy. There was used toilet paper on the side of the toilet...need I saw more. It was a mess. I hope the manager see's this review and makes some changes. I would rather drive a few miles further and go to Petsmart.

This place is fine, but it would be great if they could speed up the checkout process. Great place to get our cats vaccinated and shots. Thanks Petco

My first time taking my German Shepherd to the Downey location. Yvonne did an excellent grooming. We already booked our second appointment.

We had to hunt down a salesperson to help us. Then she wanted us to blindly order an item they didn't have in stock.

We went in for puppy products, collar, and leash, and so on, they didn't have very many puppy products. we went up the street to a dollar tree and found a bigger variety. What was funny was a family that was at Petco, walked in a little bit after us, and also found a bunch of items.

Went in today to purchase a guinea pig, when I walked into the store manager MARI was very rude, lied about protocol, told me that I had to show her a picture of my guinea pig cage put together and set up, I walked away called petco in south gate they informed me that this isn't protocol for purchasing a guinea pig, she then told me that they were short staff and to come back the following day, I wasn't!...stated she had to make a call... a gentleman then can out and assisted me...this is the only reason why they got 2 stars and not 1...he was great, patient and couldn't believe MARI told me what she told me about having the cage put together and set up before purchasing the guinea pig, MARI needs to be fired (I don't care if she is a manager) I should of got headquarters phone number and called above her to complain because MARI was ridiculous, rude, lied and very hard to deal with

Came to get my dog groomed at 10 in the morning. My groomer shows up late. So I gave my dog one of Petco products to help calm him. That they recommend to me so he can relax while getting a bath. I told my groomer this and one other groomer who wants to be a boy so bad claims it’s a policy that they can’t take any dogs under the calming products. Which I don’t understand why one of the other groomers told me to do that and now they are saying they can’t take him in. I’m done with Petco this isn’t the first Petco I had issues with the one off Lakewood their grooming sucks as well.

I bought some flea medication for my dog. It was 7 tablets. The young lady that helped me said if it does not work you can get a refund. Use up to 6 of them, if it does not work to your liking you can get a refund. I said ok than you I will it try it. I did what she asked me to do and the lady that I wanted to get a refund from laughed and mocked me. Stating that I almost used them all. I explained myself and she tried to say it was a 10 week treatment when it's for dogs 10 weeks and older. I will try it again hopefully there's a Manger that can help me without trying to make me look like someone trying to take advantage. I didn't even want to buy them because I didn't trust the chews. The young lady said I could get a refund as long as there was at least 1 left. I wanted the chew to work. Hours later my dog was still scratching and biting away.

We have gotten all or little critters here they are adorable 😍. Service is average not bad not over the top. They have everything you need for reptiles

DON’T GET YOUR PET VITAL CARE MEMBERSHIP HERE I went in about a week ago to buy a decoration for my fish and the cashier asked me if I wanted to sign up for the vital care program and I said yeah. He put in my email at-least 6 times. When I tried signing up at home it didn’t work and I just thought that the app was slow. I went to another Petco to ask about it and they said that my account NEVER had an email attached to it. And the cashier never gave me the pet number for my account. So this Petco took the $5 for “creating the account” and a cashier at a different Petco actually set it up for me. Restrain your cashiers Petco, people shouldn’t be spending $5 and getting nothing in return.

The staff is super nice and accommodating to any questions you have. The prices are also good! I mainly come here for grooming of my dog and their services are always top notch.

Brought my husband to buy our dog their food. It's an older dog in a special diet, but the food has really helped him. Glad there's a place like this when you can find anything for your pet.

Love their grooming department. Staff is very courteous. My family takes all their dogs to get groomed with Marlene. She’s the best. Does amazing work with my 4 yr old Yorkie and our 4 yr old (70lb) German Shepard.

The store was clean, well stocked and offered great, professional help for my 4-5 week puppy rescue that needed a nutritional boost. Felt I was getting the best information and products from the store that day.

I took my son to this location after visiting a few other Petcos. Rosemary gave me and my son 5 star service. Attention, detail and patience while making a selection on our tortoise’s. We are very happy.

Normally, I like to write positive reviews, but when I went to Petco, there system was down and they only accepted cash. I don't understand why they couldn't go old school and use the knuckle buster like in the old days for taking your credit card number without the duplication slip. There attitude was like "oh, well". I only had a certain amount of cash with me so I couldn't get all the items I wanted. Amazon, here I come. This would have been 1 star , but the associate really help me get and find the items I needed.

I found the inventory at this Petco to be very limited. The staff were nice, but I didn't find most of what I was looking for. I even found the engraving system for pet tags to be inferior to the one at Petsmart--Petco's limits me to two lines on each side, whereas Petsmart's lets me add three to the reverse.

8580 Firestone Blvd, Downey, CA 90241 Yesterday, Thursday,, while driving from my DTLA studio to see my mother in Bellflower, she asks me to pick out a couple cans of cat food. I park in front and enter the store where a manager is posted up at the door. Having Ben to this store numerous times, I have a routine. Veer left to say hello to the kitties, peruse the fish tanks looking for tiger Oscar's. Trip out on the four chameleons, then head to the cat food. Half way down the isle I look up to see the "door employee" briefly check me out, then walk away. I move to the next aisle, and again watch the same petco associate walk past the aisle giving me a glance. She then returns 30 seconds later walks towards me asking if I needed help. I tell her I'm buying catfish for my mom's cats, and am trying to channel them to narrow down the myriad options. I've picked out three pouches, when I notice Police swarming the aisle, asking me to put the cat food down. I'm asked if I have any weapons I'm asked if I have any needles. I'm asked if I'm on parole or probation. I'm then searched. My computer bag is searched. And nothing is discovered. The officer informs me they were called in by the manager who saw me stash store items on my person, and that I was with others who came with me, and that had run out the door with merchandise. The manager of this store is a liar.  She saw me park and walk in alone. She lied about my putting merchandise in my pockets. The police escorted me out of the store, as apparently petco has the right to refuse me service. I would understand if I had actually done something illegal, but I did not. So why did the manager single me out? Because she is a miserable porcine, hater. All in all, a pathetic lack of professionalism by the Petco manager. My mom shops there once a week. She has two cats and she also feeds dozens of cats abandoned by the 91 freeway and Clark Ave. I'll never shop ar petco again, and after hearing how petco treated me, neither shall my mom. Disgusted,

No one to help guests in the store. I find three employees standing in the corner talking. I go up to them and they don’t even greet me or ask if I they can help me. I say “excuse me are any of you available to help me???” Two just walk off and the other just stares at me. I ask if they had a certain brand of dog food and she just says “no.” Zero customer service available and when I finally found someone zero customer service or even courtesy. Won’t be back. We’ll be taking our money to the Petsmart down the road from here on out.
