Mac's number one goal is to win above all else. My daughter cried during or after every practice (Draper gym, level 1). Instead of addressing the team spirit/bullying or encouraging individual goals, they used emotional abuse and threats to keep the kids working hard. My daughter would stand for over an hour and wasn't allowed to practice individual skills during the parts of the routine she wasn't in. If she watched other teams, adjusted her shorts, fixed her pony tail, or tried to practice skills, she'd get yelled at or threatened. I mentioned my concerns to a coach and was met with defensive excuses instead of a plan moving forward. My daughter was made to stand alone, facing forward for over an hour at a time on two more occasions before I pulled her from the team. They aren't going to change the entire gym culture. There is no communication with coaches. You are told to only talk to Janet or Mac. Huge red flag! This isn't just a coach problem, my daughter and I would over-hear the kind of condescending and singling out of other teams by coaches and Mack himself and fear that her treatment would get worse the further she progressed. The further I get from Mac's, the more stories I hear from other parents and athletes who have the same and worse experiences of neglect and sexual manipulation of the older teams. I encourage everyone to file a complaint and write a review of your experience.

If I could give this place a -1000 I would. Parents do not send your kids here. The coaches are horrible. When athletes ask for help with a stunt coaches respond with “I shouldn’t have to babysit you”??? I’m sorry but I thought that was a coaches entire job. Favoritism is a huge problem in this gym so if your kid isn’t a favorite good luck they’ll probably come home crying everyday. MACS is also known for kicking athletes off the team all the time. They will let athletes who are not ready for a higher team join only to kick them off because they haven’t magically gained all the skills they needed a month in. They also kicked an athlete off a team at NCA because they fell on day 1. If that doesn’t describe how they treat most of there athletes I don’t know what will. Most the kids that attend hate this gym. The coaches don’t actually know how to coach they just yell to make up for their lack of coaching abilities.

All of the coaches at Macs Cheer have been extremely rude to the athletes in the 6 years that I was part of their program. I had coaches tell me that I am "too big to fly" and "none of the bases want to base" me because I am "not good enought to fly, and never will be." Those are direct quotes. I am 5' tall and weigh less than 100 lbs. My first years were spent being bullied by all the members of teams I was on. These last 3 years, I have been bullied by the coaches and the owner. I dont care if this gets taken down. I can post it again.

If I could give this gym a negative amount of stars I would. My daughter was hurt and had a small hairline fracture in her back causing her to miss about 2 weeks of practice. She was called a liar by her coaches even after receiving proof from a doctor of her injuries. She has been yelled at and bullied by her coaches for months now so we made the decision to pull her out of the gym. I prepaid for the following month and was told that I wasn’t going to get any refund on any money paid and they will keep it all even though my daughter will not be practicing there anymore. Mac and Janet are just as horrible. This gym cares only about the money in their pocket and not about their athletes! Take your child somewhere else!

Hands down the best gym out there. My daughter has been here for 3 years now and loves it. The coaches are amazing too. They see the potential in each athlete and help them push to get to that level. Love this gym!!

Macs cheer has been more than cheer for my daughter. It has been a boost to her self esteem, taught her resilience, taught her a team mentality, and so much more. One year ago she walked in the gym nervous and unable to even do a front roll, despite that, they worked with her, were tough but loving because they knew they could push her, and she’s doing amazing! She’s now able to do rolls, cartwheels, roundoffs and walk overs. Gym is part therapy for her. The coaches have been so incredible. If I could give more than 5 stars, I would 💙

MACS is amazing! We have been with MACS for 4 years and would have been with them longer if they were in Utah county sooner. I have two daughters that have been part of the MACS family. They both have loved their coaches and teammates over the years. We were so excited to go to a gym where they could cheer at a level 5. It’s wonderful knowing Mac and Janet always take care of their athletes and have a great plan for their teams. They are both amazing with my girls and I have always had the utmost trust in both of them. Cheer is a very demanding sport and they always strive to be at the top. The amount of time they put in is incredible and it shows! If you want to be at the top, this gym will take you there!! Hard work, blood, sweat and tears!! We are a family!!

i think macs is so good! they work so very hard, they are all around a great company, bring on wildfire and white diamonds being one of our good friends in the cheer community we love them! unfortunately i had to deduct a star for some of the girls trying to bring other girls down which isn’t what cheer is about, we appreciate the criticism but that’s what our coaches are for silly! none the less we love macs<3

Mac’s Cheer means FAMILY! The coaches set the bar high and give the cheerleaders the training and encouragement to meet the challenge! The coaches care about their cheerleaders on and off the mat. I’m so proud to recommend Mac’s Cheer! ❤️❤️

We really love it here! My daughter just started last year on tiny starz and thoroughly enjoyed it! She had been improving slowly at other studios but at Mac’s she just took off. Excited for next year!
