Great
performance
of
Rossini's
La
Cenerentola;
this
time
set
in
a
somewhat
Hollywoodish
movie
environment,
evoquing
memories
of
Fred
Astaire
and
company
dancing
on
stage.
The
singers
and
the
orchestra
were
outstanding.
Unfortunately,
the
front-of-the-houese
personnel
is
somewhat
clueless
about
what's
going
on
where.
For
the
pre-performance
lecture,
I
was
sent
to
the
wrong
hall,
the
coat
check
person
had
no
idea
at
all,
and
a
bar
tender
couldn't
read
what
was
written
on
my
free
sparkling
wine
coupon
and
wanted
to
charge
me
an
extra
€4
for
the
drink.
The
Opern
Bus
bus
stop
at
the
Deutz
Train
station
needs
to
be
much
better
marked.
I
was
not
the
only
patron
who
couldn't
find
it.
Still,
all
in
all,
again,
a
pleasant
opera
experience
in
Cologne.
I
sure
hope
the
opera
company
will
be
back
at
the
real
opera
house
in
the
near
future.
The
acoustics
in
fair
halls
are
just
not
suitable
for
"fine
opera."
It's
a
bit
like
trying
fine
dining
at
McDonald's.
It
ain't
working!
