The oldest theatre in Dublin. Lovely staff, great productions and at a decent price! Drinks are reasonable too!

It is an amazing place, it's hard to believe it was first build back in 1662 I think. Also performances shown are versatile and have a bit of depth in the message that's being conveyed - something that's hard to find these days. I noticed that part of the venue can be rented out for a private parties which is great. 😉👍

Attended a play here on Friday night, first time to visit lovely warm atmosphere, friendly welcoming helpful staff. Well stocked bar, beautiful building, banqueting hall stunning would imagine it to be a magical venue for a wedding or other special occasion. The Boy's School where the play was performed was amazing, absolutely love the atmospheric arrangement, where old and new, professional and simple lines merge blissfully. What an experience.. the play was intense and drew you in, with the 70 minutes flying by and the standing ovation for The Haunted Host evidence we wanted more. I would describe Smock Alley Theatre as a little gem in the crown of Dublin. You owe it to yourself not to miss a visit.

Attended the Mozart's string quartet performance. It was superb and extremely invigorating experience. The staff were very helpful as well. The is bathroom on the 2nd floor (from the corridor, door to your right) opposite the theatre for performing.

I photographed Niamh & Ciaran's wedding in Smock Alley Theatre during the Summer and I couldn't recommend it more. The ceremony space is so unusual and striking. The staff were lovely and the drinks reception on site was great. The location is perfect to nip out for some quick portraits around Dublin City and it's really close to all the best hotels and restaurants for your wedding reception. I can't wait to return.

We are an American couple married on 1 October 2022 at Smock Alley Theatre. We met in Dublin while studying there 6 years prior, so our wedding was a homecoming of sorts. We wanted to thank the Smock Alley again for hosting such a magnificent ceremony and drinks reception for us. The room was beautifully situated and service was top notch - people particularly remarked upon this point (and of course about the gorgeous windows!). We appreciate all of the hand-holding and guidance we received from Sarah and team throughout the process

Lovely intimate theatre with well curated performances and friendly staff. The only downside is the seating is not that comfortable even using the cushions. I could see a lot of folk getting restless and uneasy after about an hour of performance.

My husband and I recently had our wedding ceremony at Smock Alley, it was an incredible experience to say the least! The venue is so unique, the lighting is perfect and the acoustics were out of this world. We had a live musician playing his acoustic guitar throughout and the sound was amazing. The staff were fantastic to work with and our wedding coordinator Sarah made sure everything ran smoothly on the day. We had Prosecco, beers and sandwiches which were made in house right after the ceremony. The sandwiches were delicious and everyone commented how nice they were. Overall we couldn’t have had a better venue or a more unique experience for our ceremony. We were struggling to find a venue in Dublin for a non- religious ceremony but Smock excelled. All of our guests were in awe of the beauty of the venue and I couldn’t recommend it highly enough!

Very enjoyable production of Orson Wells, A Christmas Carol. I brought my 12 year old and he loved it. He was just old enough to appreciate the nuances, humour and excellence. Any younger and he would have struggled with attention. There were some very very small kids who had fallen asleep which is no reflection on the production. Maybe clearer age guidance is needed in the marketing material next year. Its a pity the foyer is so tiny. There was no room to enjoy a casual drink beforehand. We were slightly early so went to a cafe nearby instead. Lovely theatre inside and helpful engaged staff. Happy to make the trip from Naas to return again.

My now husband and I had our Wedding Ceremony in Smock Alley Theatre. Hands down, it was an amazing experience! The venue is truly stunning and the staff were a delight to work with from beginning to end. We had food, tea and coffee before the ceremony itself, and a sparkling wine reception after. All of it was amazing. If you’re looking to have a non-religious wedding ceremony in Dublin you'll find it difficult to find a better place. Absolutely 5 stars. Thank you all so much!

Attended a wedding reception there, most unusual but also very enjoyable and memorable. An amazing architectural revamped building. The staff were very friendly, it was very clean, bright, and airy, the old structure was visible everywhere . Theatre on the ground floor (very popular) events on the first floor. Recommend a visit.

Wheelchair accessible via staff door. Guide dogs welcome too. Bar sells alcohol and you can take your drinks to your seat. Refurbished beautifully. No frills. Great atmosphere. Right in the heart of Dublin.

Fantastic space to catch a bit of theatre. We saw "A Rare Journey - Nora Joyce's Odyssey" during Bloomsday Fest. Great entertainment. ***** Helpful and engaging staff. Decent wine selection at the bar.

Love this theatre! Not everything I've been to see here has been brilliant but a good proportion have been. The theatre itself is great, very intimate and close to the performers. Highly recommended.

Two very cool theatre spaces and generally a good line up if local and alternative theatre and other performances. Top floor has a large space under the magnificent ceiling! Bar at the entrance.

I thought the place was nice ,the see change launched the start of green ribbon, this year we try to get rid of the stigma of Shame, plenty of tea/coffee and our special cupcakes .

Went to see Dancing in the Moonlight. We were late arriving, staff kindly facilitated us to enter the auditorium. After the play, you can stay and have a drink and chat with Actor/s I have been here to see many different productions, always very enjoyable and the surrounds are magnificent.
