I was at linn dara when i was 17 2 years ago. The amount of trauma this place gave me is unbelievable. The staff are terrible and do not help patients whatsoever. In my one month and two weeks there i had 1 therapy session which made me feel a lot worse. I felt especially bad for eating disorder patients as they were physically forced to get ng tubes down their nose, they would drag patients into a room with these poor girls screaming and get held down whilst getting a tube forcibly placed. I wasn’t allowed to have spray deodorant, shoe laces or a razor to shave with. If i wanted to shave i would have to be watched in the shower even though i have never self harmed. My problems were never taken seriously by any staff. Any time us patients had any bit of fun to make our stay easier we were stopped. Eating disorder patients were not allowed to stand for long periods of time. One girl got held down because she was begging for help and they viewed it as a threat. Please never send your children here. I’m almost 20 now and am still trying to get over all my trauma that place gave me.

I’ve been inpatient at linn darn on 4 separate occasions varying in length each time. I can say with my experience it’s not a good place for anyone who is mentally vulnerable or unwell. This place has given me excessive amount of trauma and trust issues last time I was here I was 16 I am now 19 and still can not receive help from anyone else due to the trauma. I still suffer everyday I still carry around all the trauma from there and the things that made me need to go there in first place. If you care about your children don’t send them here they will come out with more issues then they went in.

horrific, the staff couldnt care less about what happenes , i only was in for 2 weeks but even then it was miserable, there are a few good people who really do want to help, but its massivly overshadowed by everyone else who could care less. it gives you a false sense of security, when i went in for the first time, i had no idea that i was going to be staying for 2 weeks, they didnt tell me until i was in, i had intence seperation anxiety, and what did they do to help me in there? they left me in my bedroom, sobbing. out of my two weeks there i only ever got about 3 therapy sessions, and the vast majority of the time you had to wait about 30 minutes to an hour just to be seen, and even then the therapy sessions would only last around 10 minutes before they send you back to your bedroom with a DVD player. PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILDREN HERE, you might aswell place them in a mental asylum from the 1950s. shocking

if only i could give 1 star, parents please read this before considering sending your child here. i was in linn dara march -may 2022 and even though i was only there for less than 3 months i left absolutely traumatised, its currently december and i still havent healed from what i’ve experienced in this place. I have witnessed young people cutting themselfs, making themselves sick, overdosing, getting yelled at for getting sick? this young person was 11 that had a serious illness and wasn’t able to eat and they got yelled at for getting sick! i was the one that helped them while they cried on my shoulders saying they wanted to die, linn dara deserve to be closed down for the cruelty of young people and just to add, i got absolutely no help in there at all infact i was misdiagnosed with something i didnt have until i went to a doctor and told me that i actually had ADHD and i was on the worst medication that was not going to help me whatsoever. dont send your kids here get them proper help this is not the place at all.

If I could give this place zero stars I would. Please do not send your child here. They will not receive help. During COVID I was put in isolation for 4 days, while waiting a negative result even though the hospital already had one, with my food past threw the door. I wasn't allowed to leave the room and wasn't allowed to do anything. expect a torch flashed on your face in the night. they do not separate you from other people in there with you. There was an 8 year old with ED and had to hear conversations in group therapy of how the rest of us, 15-17 year old's had attempted. I got no support except medicated by staff and was told off for not wanting to color in some mindful picture. was only their for a week and they did nothing to help me.
