Another beautiful place in Dublin. There are many well known people who are buried here. You can enter for free or pay for the museum. We opted for entry and walked around with map. There are soo many things to see in this cemetery. One recommendation I have is stop at the cafe get something to eat or drink before walking this cemetery. You can literally walk for hours which to me came as a pleasant surprise as I have never really been a cemetery visitor but I can say this place has changed that. You can get here by bus relatively easy. Last thing is look at the pictures in the reviews to give you idea of what to expect.

It's a must do if you are visiting Dublin, the tour successfully manages to paint a picture of the political history and struggles of generations past. It's interesting from start to finish and you get to walk away with a bit of knowledge. 5 star!

Fantastic. Wonderful staff. Helpful genealogist on site. Worth an hour or two, whether you are searching for your ancestor’s grave, visiting the tombs of the famous (fallen heroes of the Easter Uprising, Knights, and writer’s are among the more than one million Dubliners buried here), or learning about the Influenza Epidemic that killed tens of thousands during and after The Great War (WWI). Oh, and the cafeteria is exceptional. I had one of the best meals of my time in Dublin and it was one of the least expensive! Add this to your list of places to see in Dublin.

A fantastic way to spend a couple of hours learning some Irish history. Katy, the guide for my tour, was knowledgeable and engaging. Beautifully kept cemetery with interesting stories, including a speech given at the burial of Rossa. Fantastic and well worth the ticket price, which also included going up O'Connell's tower which has its own potted history.

Wow. I really like this place. The tour is fabulous and has many historical points if you are Irish or want to learn more. At Michael Collins grave the military perform a ritual at 2 pm everyday to honor this great man.

Such an incredible place to see. While it is still an active cemetery, the amount of history in there is awe inspiring. Michael Collins - a personal hero - is buried there. The first stop on the tour we took was at the grave of Jeremiah O’Donovan Rossa. While the guide was speaking. A reenactor gave the Padraig Pearse speech from 1915. Brought tears to my eyes. If you can, and it is not easy- would highly recommend climbing the O’Connell Tower. We made a couple of stops on the way up, but the views from The top are incredible. Our guide Warren was absolutely fantastic!

I have wanted to do this tour for years , finally did it yesterday. Niall our tour guide was very passionate about his History and full of knowledge with abit of the Irish sense of humour thrown in, great guy. Really enjoyed it and great value €26 for the two of us, everyone should do it well worth a trip. As the husband said it was one of my better ideas.

Glasnevin Cemetery was one of the best places I visited in Dublin. The tour was grand; had Alan for a guide and he was just brilliant. Answered all my questions about Irish politics- I truly got a private history lesson of post-civil war Ireland. Climbed the tower for the great views. If you’re a history fan then you must make a trip to the City of the Dead

I was expecting a short visit and to move on to the botanical gardens beyond but the guided tour took over 90 minutes. The tour guide was simply superb, giving the history of Ireland from the mid 1700's to the present day whilst walking around the main historical monuments of notable figures interred in the graveyard. Highly recommended. Please find time to finish at The Gravediggers pub just outside the other entrance which serves the best pint of Guinness in the world.

Had an excellent tour of the new Extraordinary Lives tour, which was brilliantly told and hosted by Bridget. She was an excellent host, with great knowledge of the subject matter and brought the history to life. As a new tour, I'll raise one point of feedback: I would either introduce a break at the gravediggers pub for 15-20 minutes or ensure that the tour lasts for not more than 90 minutes. (Personally, I think the break option is the way to go)

Excellent cemetery with so much history. There are guides to bring you to the most interesting graves. Many of the 1916 fighters are buried there. Easily accessible from Dublin city by bus. Excellent coffee shop on site.

A brilliant, most interesting tour. Well worth doing if you are in Dublin. Our tour guide was Kate, who was extremely friendly, knowledgeable and hospitable. Highly recommended you do this whether you have an interest in Irish history or not.

We went to the Women in History tour today. It was excellent. Our guide was very friendly, and welcomed all our questions. My 12 year old niece found it fascinating and the guide pitched the tour perfectly for all ages. Thanks so much.

Myself and a friend visited last Thursday. In a cold wind and a low blinding sun our tour guide Bridget went above and beyond to show us as much as she could. Even with failing light she kept going. An amazing tour which i’d Heartily recommend.

We opted for the guided tour and we not disappointed. For us, it was a good introduction to more modern (1800s onward) Irish history and several major figures. With the exception of the Daniel O'Connell crypt, the entire tour is outside. The museum isn't extensive, but is a nice complement to the cemetery.

I enjoyed an excellent tour of Glasnevin Cemetery today at 10:30 with guide Catherine. Catherine, who has an encyclopedic knowledge of her subject, catered for the needs and interests of the group. She was extremely generous with her time and engaged well with the group. I highly recommend this tour.

Loved the tour and the re-enactment! The tour really made it worth the money and was an afternoon well spent. The museum was smaller than I expected and it was just alright. The grounds of the cemetery are beautiful though and I would recommend visiting!

Wanted to do this for so long and eventually got around to do it. Paddy was our guide for the two hours. Absolute Gent, very knowledgeable and very easy to listen too unlike some tour guides who just run through it. Would definitely recommend this even if your not interested in Irish History.

Perfect for all necromantic people. Also for people interested in genealogy or irish history. Beautiful place.

Incredible! You can pay to take a guided tour or you can roam around on your own. Either way, it's worth checking out! Several historical figures are interred here. Gift shop on site. Cafe on site. Bathrooms outside by cafe. There is parking for €2/day in the lot across the street from the entrance of the cemetery. (Or you can try your luck at any of the spots on the street. Be warned; traffic is a doozy and it is near impossible to actually pull into a spot on the street. Just save yourself the stress and use the lot!)

Brought my granny here for a tour today and I was pleasantly surprised with how interesting the tour was. Caitrina (apologies if this is not spelled correctly) was an excellent, funny and very knowledgeable guide. Would highly recommend this tour. Lovely tea room on the facilities which was very pleasent to go to before our tour. Parking also available on site for €2, I would recommend going early as I would imagine the parking getting full later on in the day.

Fascinating exhibition which, considering it's size, kept me occupied for ages. I can't praise the guided cemetery tour enough. Our guide, Daniel, was knowledgeable and ready to answer any and all questions we had. He kept our undivided attention despite the rain spilling down during the tour! Highly, highly recommended!

Highly recommended.. On a rainy overcast Sunday, we thoroughly enjoyed our tour with Warren who was passionate about the history and the background stories of our leaders . The details are truly fascinating. Well worth the time spent .

A must see, as with most cemeteries, history is awash. I recommend visiting the Kilmanhaim Gaol first, with a guided tour, so that you may appreciate the significance of those buried here after the 1916 Easter Rising. Do visit the botanical gardens afterwards, if not just to lift your spirits.

Very beautiful cemetery and a very informative tour! We learned a lot about the Irish history and the monuments on the grounds. Great Tour by Daniel! Thank you

Our tour guide Daniel made our trip to Glasnevin Cemetery. He was so knowledgeable about Irish history and was able to answer any question our group had about the graveyard...and Ireland's past! The tower is worth going up as well - there are some great views of Dublin to be seen.

10/10 would recommend! Booked on a whim after hearing about it for years and we’re blown away by how enjoyable the tour was. Tour guide was incredibly knowledgeable and witty, which was very impressive considering it ended up being nearly a 2 hours tour. Great weekend activity and lovely to brush up on my Irish history.
