The location is perfect - it's overlooking the river and Central Dublin is on walking distance. The room was clean however when we arrived the sink was clogged, one of the lamps wasn't working and there was only one pair of slippers and a bathrobe. The staff was helpful and resolved this pretty quickly. The double bed was two mattresses put together and they weren't very comfortable for me. Also our room was on the first floor and it was a bit noisy. Breakfast was very good in the restaurant but on the last day when we requested takeaway breakfast as we were checking out early, I wasn't impressed with the package they gave us. The price is a bit high compared to what they are offering.

Visiting from the states and this hotel was perfect. Our room was ready early, very clean and nice. The location is great for walking into the city or catching public transportation. The restaurant and bar are also excellent. The front desk is very helpful with questions. We traveled around Ireland for over a week and decided to rebook this hotel when we returned to Dublin. If you’re out for a late night, order a pizza to the room and enjoy! Both of our stays were wonderful!

We were treated so nicely by friendly staff. Lovely clean and modern rooms. Plenty of fluffy white towels. Amazing Rituals products in bathroom. This hotel in a great location for attending concerts at the 3Arena and/or hop on the Luas into town for some shopping. We will definitely be back.

Great hotel with nice view to Liffey River. Professional polite and very friendly staff. Very good food, car park located 1 minute walk from the hotel ( follow carefully hotel guidelines as otherwise you might get clamped). Swimming pool quite small, only 2x lanes but it was empty in the morning. Good breakfast.

Huge rooms. Vibey late bar. Balcony. River views. Stylish. Gated super car park. Perfect location, Dublin is compact and you want to be in this location, it’s not London. Thanks and the spa gym is also heaven

The staff here are very friendly and accommodating. We had an excellent view of the river. The hotel is right on the d dock. If y you're used to having ice you're gonna be a bit disappointed...there are no ice machines. There is an excellent restaurant and bar a attached. Also has so spa services, gym and swimming pool.

Great spot for a brief overnight stay in Dublin between connecting flights. Close enough to the centre to easily check out Trinity College, Grafton Street and Temple Bar, but just far enough away for a nice quiet sleep. Very courteous staff, good amenities, and well done to the bar staff for managing a wild night after the All-Ireland football final. Thoroughly enjoyed learning all about Gaelic football rules at the bar.

Couldn’t of asked for a better stay for my birthday trip, Location was great so much hotel amenities we didn’t even need to leave! The room was amazing the lovely staff upgraded us !!I want to thank Bianca particularly she was so nice when we arrived and made us excited for our stay! We had the best balcony view and cocktails to the room that were amazing we were so happy :) pool was full when we got there so we didn’t really get time to do that but everything else was 10/10 recommend trying the restaurant too while you’re there, thank you for a great day recommend!!

My fiance and I stayed here for a conference he was attending at the Dublin convention center. The location is great. A lot of local coffee shops and restaurants walking distance. The service and staff at the hotel were wonderful and helpful. As a heads up, there is major construction being done next door. Highly recommend asking for a room on the opposite side of the construction, although it's still hard to avoid the noise completely. The breakfast was the best I had in Dublin the entire trip. The area feels really safe and I felt totally comfortable walking around alone. Highly recommend staying here for business or pleasure.

Easily the best service I've had at any hotel ever. From the receptionists, the management, the waitstaff, everything. I wanted to swap rooms after my friend left to a smaller, cheaper one. They allowed me to stay in my current, more expensive room for the rate of the cheaper room. Not to mention, they have been very kind and helpful during my entire stay. Will definitely come back.

Everything about the hotel was great. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. The staff was polite and helpful when needed. The in-house restaurant gave off a lot of cafeteria vibes, but the food was good. The only minor ding is not the fault of the hotel, but it is part of the experience. There is a lot of construction going on, so your room view may be a building of concrete and rebar, or if you're lucky, the river. Overall, great stay.

Lovely hotel. Lots of building work happening next door not the best view from our window. Restaurant was expensive, quite cold to sit in. The food was lovely though and enjoyed the decor. Expensive room service charge £7! & parking £20 overnight. Good location but we did find it expensive!

Short distance from town center, but more than enough to do here, without going into town. Beautiful walks, coffee shop, restaurant etc. The spa in hotel is fantastic! Just what the doctor ordered for some much needed R&R.

Plenty of good things to say about the Spencer Hotel. The rooms were nice, the location very convenient to everything (the Red LUAS Mayor St. stop is literally a one-minute walk across the plaza). The Dublin Express 784 airport bus stops almost in front of the hotel. And it was quiet. We were there then Ireland beat S. Africa in Rugby and didn't hear a thing. Overall a fine place to stay.

I recently stayed at this hotel to attend a congress, and I had an overall pleasant experience. The room was clean and comfortable, and the amenities were great. I would have happily given it a 5-star rating. Moreover, the location is excellent, which made it convenient for me to access the congress venue and nearby attractions. However, my checkout experience with the receptionist ( I don't want to mention the name because I don't want to harm anyone ) was disappointing. Was rude and unprofessional, which left a negative impression on an otherwise enjoyable stay. I hope the management addresses this issue because it marred an otherwise excellent visit.

The view would have been beautiful except for the MAJOR construction project right next door. So...I could not sit out on the balcony as there are constructions works right next to us banging and hammering within feet of our room. We couldn't open the outside door and the noise from the construction sucked. The service and staff were excellent that is why it has more than one star. Wish we would have know before we booked. Extremely Disappointed.

Hotel under maintenance. Only one elevator works and it takes forever to get to your room or to the lobby - traffic jams. It's been so for at leasy 4 days and still no fix. The reception has the "courtesy" to advise me to climb up the stairs (4 floors) to my room every time I need to go up. They don't provide you with flip flops to the pool/spa/sauna, no water in the gym or sauna unless you bring your own bottle or willing to pay for one, all of which are kind of basic in hotels today. Walking distance to meetings (business stay) and 1.5km to city center and I don't mind walking. Breakfast is pretty good. Overall the hotel is fair but you pay quite a bit and it's hardly cost effective I'm affraid... Good luck

Nice hotel in the heart of Dublin city. Staff were lovely, bed was super comfy and was very appreciative of the blackout curtains. My one issue was the room tv needs an upgrade, something that can be streamed to, or has the apps. Bath was fantastic! Food and breakfast were delicious. Would recommend.

Stayed here last week and paid €280 (room only no breakfast) for what can be best described as a shoe box. I was on the 5th floor and the room was tucked away in the corner. The door to the bathroom was glass and had a centimetre gap between it and the wall so you would have to either stay on your own or someone you are very close with because there is no sound proofing. The shower also leaked all over the bathroom. The room was designed so that the bed faced the bathroom door. The TV (which wouldn't work properly, it wouldn't connect to any of the smart feature options) was facing a wall to the right of the bed. It was at such an angle that the remote wouldn't work when you were lying on the bed. The reception and bar staff were very nice so that is why the hotel didn't just get one star. Also it is not 'city centre' its a 20 - 30 minute walk away from Grafton Street.

Long overdue review : Came here in Nov of 2022 - great location and great view of the review. Hotel staff was on point and professional however the restaurant staff and service need some serious reality checks. They closed for me but when some patrons came 5 min after me, they made special accommodations to serve them but not me despite being a guest in the hotel. On another night when I was able to eat/drink, the food was not prepared properly and my attempts to speak with the server & manager to get the situation resolved was met with rude comments and no solution. The hotel is decent but the restaurant and their staff need some humble reality checks. I complained to management and the hotel ownership group but nothing ever came of it nor was there any adequate follow up. If you are of Asian descent, be really careful coming here . I'm Asian descent and found that to be an issue here based on my restaurant experience on how I was treated versus others.

From the moment we walked into the hotel we were greeted with smiles. Staff have been extremely helpful throughout our stay. Special shout out to Orlaith and Phillip.. We attended for a friends birthday celebration and was recommended this hotel. Rooms were clean and had amazing views from the balcony. We will definitely be returning 👍🏼 Thank you Lloyd & Jay

Stayed here for two nights. The me checking in had forgotten that past me had booked a junior suite, so that was a delightful surprise - and excellent value as it was around the same price as a deluxe king room at other hotels at the time I booked. The suite appeared to have been newly fitted out and was very spacious, with a nice balcony overlooking the river. We ate in the East restaurant both nights. On the first occasion, our order got lost in the system, so we waited a long time for food, but our drinks were comped and the food was excellent - worth waiting for. Vegetarian options were OK, but would have preferred more choice - I ended up ordering the same dish both nights. However, at breakfast, we were delighted with the vegan cooked breakfast option (ordered from the menu, not on the buffet, but included in the price). The leisure club is excellent, the gym particularly so - barbells, power racks, plenty of plates and benches, lots of resistance machines and cardio stuff. Only gripe was that (like many hotel gyms in Ireland) lockers need your own padlock and there is no swimsuit drying machine. The pool isn't huge, but it's clean and long enough to get decent lengths in.

Great spot to stay. Staff are very helpful and friendly. Very clean with a nice bar. The pool, sauna and steam room are great didnt use the gym. A good place if going to the 3 arena as only 15 min walk away.

Fantastic location, 20 minutes walk from Temple Bar and 10 from the train station. Stagg- from the front desk to the cleaners to the cocktail bar, everyone said hello and were very friendly. Lovely comfortable room with restaurants and shops nearby. Would definitely stay again!

10/10 from the moment we checked in, Bianca and the team were amazing. Service was fantastic. All the staff here are exceptional at what they do. Our room was beautiful with the most incredible views of the river and the food and drink were second to none. We can't wait to return here it was so good!!

Clean and comfortable room. Housekeeping cleans everyday and does a good job. The hallway are a little dark would need to be a bit lighted. The morning front desk people needs to smile more and be a bit more courteous. The evening people are better. Overall good place to stay. Highly recommended.

Had a lovely stay at the Spencer Hotel. Lovely room, very spacious and spotless. Had meal on the Saturday night which was superb. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Location was also great for exploring the city. Couldn't recommend highly enough

I always expected The Spencer to be really fancy but my expectations were a bit high. The gym/swimming pool area was decent but really busy (but it was a weekend). The employee was very attentive with ensuring only guests who booked the swimming lane were in it. Room service was prompt but obviously expensive. The view was really nice. Breakfast was OK, surprised some of the food tasted a bit stale despite going down for the breakfast buffet. The location is handy but not as central as you may want it however buses to the airport are right outside the hotel. The balcony door needed a special key to get out which was weird. The balcony is somewhat shared with next door room. The balcony door was not flush in the door frame so there was a gap that created a draught.

Room and staff were great. However, I would highly discourage you to take their breakfast. For its rather high price tag, you get only a limited English breakfast with very limited possibility for either healthy or vegetarian/vegan option. There are no vegetables, no cereals, ...

Great location, you're right by the water so there's potential for some really excellent views, or great night time strolls. The hotel is located near a tourist area, so loads of attractions, bars, and food options nearby. It's equipped with a gym, a spa, a pool (more so for exercise rather than working out), and they serve breakfast + have an indoor restaurant and bar. The bed was solid, and the shower. The flush on the loo felt a bit weird but the bathroom was well equipped. And I'm very thankful that they had plenty of plug points and usb charger points in the room. So many hotels miss out on that but they didn't. AC and TV was pretty straightforward to use. Room was also equipped with essentials and bonuses (robe, coffee, mini fridge). All in all a pretty solid experience! One hiccup was my friend's room wasn't ready for an hour even though we had checked in much earlier and left our stuff to come back later.

Excellent. I did not stay in the hotel. But I went with my colleague for a lunch. Sara was very lovely, smiling all the time and very positive attitude. It made us feel welcome. Food was delicious.

This was a birthday trip and I was really looking forward to it in general the hotel is well placed close to Connolly train station with easy access to the Luas tram. The hotel has a relaxing atmosphere. Our room was spacious and clean. We were not expecting a bathroom that was adapted for someone with medical issues and the raised toilet seat is a fixed item which could not be removed. Being only 5 foot tall I could not put my feet on the ground when using the toilet, I told my daughter it was like going back to toilet training as a child. No one had told her it was an adapted room when she booked, she was disappointed so check when you book that it is a standard room. The morning breakfast is very good.

Lovely quiet hotel. Rooms were very clean, beds extremely comfortable and the staff were very professional, friendly and helpful. The breakfasts were tasty and there were plenty of options. The location is amazing for getting around Dublin. The car park is just across the road and you can pay per hour or a daily rate -part of staying in Dublin, I guess. Overall we had a lovely time there.

Lovely stay at The Spencer Hotel Dublin. Car Park is extremely secure but very tight to get up and down the ramp. Literally a 5 minute walk to the Hotel. Warm, friendly welcome and even managed to check in early. We received a room upgrade so had a room with a balcony which was a nice little touch. Room clean and modern, although a little dark. Perfect location if going to the ferry port which we were. Only a 15-20 minute walk to Temple Bar along the river which is a pleasant walk. Large comfy bed with fluffy pillows. Quick and easy check out. Would stay again.

Lovely breakfast, nice staff. Pool is ok, nice for youngsters. Room was clean and good size. Staff are friendly and accommodating... It just didn't live quiet up to the cost and this is why it missed the fifth star from me. There was no view, it's a bit out of town, the air con is noisy... But otherwise it was a great stay.

The bar and restaurant of this hotel are great. There is a great variety of cocktails. The staff is really friendly and service is great. There is a good enough menu (not too big, not too small) - with a few interesting options.

This is our third stay in this super efficient but friendly hotel and once again nothing disappointed us. Some of the faces may change but the great service and friendly atmosphere remain. Late check no problem, late reservation in the fantastic restaurant again no problem even on a very busy evening. The atmosphere created around the bar by the very experienced team is amazingly friendly and efficient and it's a pleasure to watch the cocktails being made so effortlessly. Thanks to everyone once again for making us feel so welcome. temsin

We stayed for a week and the service was incredibly awesome, rooms were so clean and in a great location. Walking distance to downtown, the view of the river is so awesome at night. However they have to improve with their breakfast and fix the elevator ( it was broken for at least 2 consecutive days)

I've stayed at the Spencer several times before. The location is perfect for the Bord Gais theatre or the 3Arena. This time however, there were a few niggles. My partner & I went to the bar for food & drinks, the food (burgers) were OK, not great & way overpriced. The server, laughed when my partner ordered a Coke & said 'Come on, you have to have a real drink'. After explaining he doesn't drink anymore, I ordered a vodka & coke, the server then laughed again & said 'well done for drinking in front of him'. As if he deserved some punishment?! We laughed it off but it was uncomfortable. The next morning, after breakfast we returned to a bad smell in the room. I looked out the window to see a lorry pumping sewage from the septic tank. Obviously, this is a necessary job but they could have advised us to keep the window closed. Then we headed to the pool, to discover the jacuzzi is broken, so no bubbles. Overall, a pleasant stay but the severs comments were not necessary

  • 1/5 Amy O. 1 year ago on Google
While staff were friendly, this is not a 4 star environment and completely overpriced. Our room was on the 3rd floor and was very small and there was construction outside from 7.30am. The whole 3rd floor was also being refurbished so lots of paint, trip hazards and trades people. We moved to 6th floor for day 2 which was better. Location is good.

The Spencer Hotel was incredible. I just came home from a 7 night stay at their hotel with my two children. After a noise was heard in our room on the first night, they quickly made accommodations for us to move to a new room, and it was beautiful. The hotel is extremely child-friendly, as they have everything on deck as needed - food, pool, spa. Their 24-hour front desk came in handy multiple times when we needed a quick taxi called, or a cup of tea to-go for an early bus tour that was scheduled before coffee shops were open. Every single employee from the management, to front desk personnel, to bar tenders were pleasant and always willing to answer my questions (and I had many!). We will definitely return in the future.

Everything at this hotel is far too expensive for the quality of what you get. The food was sub par with measley portions and yet cost a fortune and the service in the restaurant was thoroughly underwhelming. We were waiting a 20-25 minutes to even place our order and such was the trend for the remainder of the meal. The rooms, although adequate, are not worth the prices you pay. In fact we used a voucher that got me 50% off my room and it still wasn't worth the money we spent. Overall, a very disappointing stay.
