Let’s start with the positives. Great location if you are going to 3arena or the theatre. Is this a four star hotel? Yes and no. In terms of amenities it has a restaurant, gym and swimming pool so worthy of 4 stars. (Full disclosure I didn’t use them so can’t comment). Are the rooms and service 4 stars? No. The web site states a range of luxury toiletries. In reality this was liquid hand soap in the shower (was hoping for shower gel and shampoo). Room was a bit rough around the edges. Yes it had a kettle, a few tea bags and and iron, but then so does a travel lodge. Would have been nice to have a mini fridge, maybe even a bottle of water. (Usually things you would expect for 4star) Toilet seat has certainly seen better days… if guest relations wanted any more feedback, I am always happy to discuss further. My email is on account and room was 713. 3 stars based on the room.

Lovely clean room and pleasant public areas. All the staff we encountered were very helpful. We dined in the restaurant on our first night and the food was lovely. Our server Suzie deserves a special mention for her exceptional service and her friendliness and efficiency.

Nice area, was a bit disappointed with my stay. Booked the swimming pool and didn’t enjoy it, there was a smell of pee in there + you need to bring your own lock for the lockers… which is inconvenient! The room was fine and big enough. Nice TV size. There was an iron + iron board, which is handy. Staff seemed quite busy and hanged up on me on the phone, didn’t even had the chance to finish my sentence. Room service would have been enjoyable but not available… You need to order via Click & Collect from the hotel restaurant or book a table. No A/C but a basic fan in the room. No shampoo or shower gel in the shower, but liquid hand soap! Breakfast was ok, but orange juice tasted like water. Breakfast staff were nice and welcoming. I won’t go back. In my opinion, it is a bit pricey for what you get and the hotel is tired looking.

I’ll start with the positives..the room was lovely and clean, spacious and hotel was a perfect location for the 3 Arena. My only negative regarding the room was that it could do with a mini fridge. Before arrival I emailed hotel asking for a possibility of early check in as we landed at 9am and check in wasn’t until 3. We were told it was subject to availability. We were absolutely fine with this, and knew there was every chance we’d have to wait until 3..I just thought I’d check as being 7 months pregnant I didn’t really want to hang around all that time. On arrival we were told to give it until midday and our room should be ready..at midday we asked only to rudely and abruptly be told no, it clearly states at 3. Again fine, we waited until then. Finally with room key in hand we went to our room, only to find it was already occupied and they’d allocated us the wrong room. A trip back to reception later and we were in. Skipping forward to check out, I checked us out online where I was told an additional €89 euros needed to be paid, although we’d ran up no bill. It was an error on their behalf. Again about to leave the hotel I had a member of staff chasing me saying I had a further €28 euros to pay..I had to then get my booking up to prove I’d paid the full amount. Overall the food is decent, the bar area is nice..I just think for a large hotel the communication between staff is lacking. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Dublin though and would definitely visit again.

I stayed here with my wife and son who has special needs. Firstly the service - flawless. From the moment we arrived to when we checked out. There was a young lad who checked us in and he was so welcoming. I can't think of his name but he was very professional. Lovely man with half a beard was so helpful to me at breakfast. Sorry I don't have names. We didn't get to use the pool or the bar but we knew they were there if we wanted to use them. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars and its nothing bad or ye did wrong it's just I found the beds a bit on the small side. I appreciate that this is out of your control but otherwise I found the rooms very cosy Your hotel is spotless. You could eat off the floor. Would we stay here again? Yes we would. I will definitely recommend you to other people travelling to Dublin. Thank you for taking care of me and my family and for been so understanding of our situation. Keep up the great job.

My fiancé and I, looking for a short getaway in Dublin to celebrate our engagement, couldn’t have been more repulsed by the quality and service of this apparent 4 star hotel. Immediately we were abandoned by all concierges upon arrival to the front of check in and ignored, while others behind us were serviced and checked in. It took a trainee (who was so kind) to finally acknowledge us and let us know someone would be with us in a moment. My fiancé and I continued to stand around, irritation growing, for about 10 minutes before we were finally acknowledged. Upon check in, I made concierge know of our special occasion, in hopes the hotel could help make our celebration as special as possible; none of which happened our entire stay. We pre booked a room with Prosecco and chocolates, both of which were nice enough; however I expected more than just two boxes of chocolates thrown in front of a bottle that was more than difficult to open. Then came dinner, where our experience came to crash and burn. The restaurant bar was filthy and completely cluttered with dirty glasses covering the entire bar. Glasses were broken like dominos; the icing on the cake, I was served a horrifically sweet strawberry daiquiri in a filthy glass covered in someone else’s lipstick. The food was less than stellar, horribly disappointing. I was still hopeful for redemption, my mistake. Following our first night we were supposed to have a massage and facial booked together with the spa but were informed, the front desk had neglected to inform the therapist of our paid spa treatments so such could be booked accordingly. Thankfully, the beauty therapist was more than kind and understanding. Even as far as to work through lunch to squeeze my fiancé in, separately unfortunately. Dinner again was a disgustingly disappointment. Bar unmanned and once again cluttered with dirty glasses. The nicest portion of our stay was the self serve breakfast, of which was palatable nothing to rave about. Upon check out, we were congratulated for our engagement by another staff member that was informed of such as we were checking out. We have never been so repulsed by the quality of a hotel until now. I can honestly say this facility doesn’t deserve to be rated a 4 star hotel; and I can confidently say, we will never be returning to The Clayton hotel Cardiff lane.

Good place to set up base if you are wanting to look around the area. It was around 20-30 minutes walk from temple bar. Simple amenities in the room, hair dryer and iron. Complimentary breakfast was nice, a little colder than I would have liked so get there early if you can. All in all was a good hotel, beds were comfy and the shower was ok! Would stay here again

We arrived at this hotel at 9:30AM after getting up at 2:30AM for a 6AM flight to Dublin. We planned on dropping off our luggage and finding a breakfast restaurant to waste some time before we were able to check in. When I relayed this information to the gentleman at the reception desk, he asked how happy we would be if we were able to check in at that moment. I almost cried I was so happy. We were able to go to our rooms and rest and refresh before going out sightseeing and getting a late lunch. The room was large, the beds were very comfortable and the windows and provided tan were more than enough to make up for the lack of air conditioning. We were very happy with our stay at the Clayton Hotel Cardiff Lane.

Restaurant is terrible. Breakfast boring, everyday the same, very limited choice. Booked a table for dinner, came on time but was asked to come about 90 minutes later! Then they often let you seat and eat in the lobby instead of the restaurant even when you booked a table in advance. Starters good but overpriced. Main courses poor. Deserts mostly good. ... They didn't clean my room even once during my one week stay, even when I asked them to. ... The only nice thing about this hotel is the pool - it is 22 m long and sometimes a bit crowded but you still can swim or go to sauna. And I also like the size of my room, quite big and we'll equipped. ... But I still give hotel 1 star only because the Stir restaurant upset me a lot.

Surprised this is a 4 star hotel because it's so low quality. The rooms were super basic (with a shampoo/body wash on the shower wall). Not to mention that the shower leaked. There isn't room service (you pick it up from the restaurant and it's only open until a certain time) and the pillows were all hard. They didn't have hygiene kits (comb, shower cap) and the vending machines had candy that looked 10+ years old. Wouldn't recommend unless literally looking to just sleep somewhere.

Across the canal from 3 Arena. Largely talented, happy, professional Staff. Very good food, but, slightly limited menu. Can't really fault the place, & look forward to any excuse to stay again! Our only issue, stayed Monday - Wednesday, after the concert on Tues evening, the chap in the ground floor bar, was totally out of his depth. However, the lady in charge of the 1st floor restaurant, quickly came to the rescue. Just wish I'd been able to drag myself out of the excellent beds, in time to sample the breakfast ! Highly recommend the Pork Belly starter, had it twice!

Stayed in October when my mam and I went to see six the musical. We were treated very well and after the show my mam and I asked if we’d be allowed have dinner without a booking and they seated and served us in the bar area. Our waiter was lovely (gave him a tip to say thanks) and when we were paying, man at the till struck up a conversation with me about six asking me if it was good. Also loved the display of theatre posters along the wall outside the lifts! Also a nice short stroll away from the Bord Gais theatre which was very handy for us. Really recommend staying here

Would of liked a proper shower in bathroom. Breakfast was only okay especially at a price of €16 a head. Table service was poor and there wasn't a big selection of hot food. We were eating at 10.00. Very nice hotel and staff were pleasant. Would stay again

Stayed here with colleagues for a conference. Hotel is perfectly adequate in many ways. The location is quite good; the walk into Temple Bar is an easy 20 minutes, and the Dublin Conference Centre is literally across a bridge. However, it is very out of date and missing amenities that really need to be standard, like the mini fridge. I even read up and knew to request one before my stay, but was given a broken unit. In the end, though, I only wanted it to chill beverages, and luckily the hotel has working ice machines, so I gave up on the fridge. Water pressure is horrendous. Room smelled very strange during the stay. From speaking with staff, power outlets and equipment are not reliable. And the breakfast... don't get me started on that...absolutely not worth it. Head out to Starbucks or a bakery. None of these are deal breakers. The hotel isn't BAD. But, it desperately needs a major face lift to get it out of 1990.

Had an unpleasant stay at this hotel. Stayed for 3 nights. After our first night, we got to our room and it wasn’t cleaned that was after leaving a sign asking them to clean the room. On our second day the room was not clean, our bed x 3 were not done properly, our room was dirty with crumbs on the floor obviously not hoovered. As for breakfast on two separate days, I witnessed one of the workers topping up pastries using her bare hands with no gloves, when I confronted her she was rude and answered “I washed my hands”. The standard of the hotel generally is rather disappointing and it is not value for money. The only good thing about the hotel is the location. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone.

I booked a room for a night due to some renovations in my apartment, and I was pleasantly surprised by how satisfying my experience was. Every small gesture and detail seemed to be well thought out, showcasing their expertise in hospitality. One very thoughtful touch was the ice bucket in the room, along with the presence of an ice vending machine in the corridor. It's not something you often see, but it made obtaining ice convenient for my drinks and showed their attention to detail. I also appreciated how the TV remote was placed right above the instructions sheet. It was these little things that made a huge difference in my experience. I forgot to carry a towel to the pool but the staff had them available at the Club Vitae reception. It was a relief to find swimming caps available as well. The availability of both, hot and cold showers ensured we weren't in discomfort at any given point. Lastly, the food was not only delicious but also presented beautifully. The customer service was amazing. The little Alicia seemed to be very sensible. Overall, I had a very satisfying stay at this hotel. The attention to detail and effort to ensure a hassle-free experience were evident throughout. Highly recommended!!

Receptionist ladies that I met ranged from unenthusiastic to openly hostile. It was a real shame because the other staff were very friendly and professional. The room was spacious and comfortable but the bed was hairy. That's right; hairy. The previous guest must have been a German Shepherd. This hotel has a nice swimming pool. Breakfast was good but warning to other guests, they do not have a car park. The multistorey car park that they send guests to was full when we arrived and this was a great inconvenience. I ended up paying €48 to stay 1 night 8-8 in another nearby multistorey.

The hotel is nice and clean. A few steps away from the Liffey river. Close to the downtown and the temple bar area in the downtown. However, the check in time for the hotel makes no sense. The check out is at 11am and the check in is at 4pm. Really?!!! Like you need 5 hours to clean the rooms? And they charge an extra 20 euros per hour for late check out. Other than that the hotel is cool and nice.

We booked a room for 4 people but on arrival found only 3 beds. We pointed this out at the reception and when we returned to the room we found a portable bed on which sheets and a pillow had been hastily thrown, without even a blanket. We ended up not using it because it smelled bad and we preferred to squeeze in and use the beds available initially. Also in the bathroom we found a fake eyelash on the sink, probably belonging to previous guests. Later we also discovered that the trash can under the desk was full of trash that also belonged to previous guests. Overall it was a very disappointing experience, especially considering that we paid 290 euros for the room alone. For this price it is fair to expect much more care, attention, and cleanliness. Breakfast, paid separately, was within the norm, but on Saturdays it is served from 8 a.m.: having a plane that morning we had to make it in a hurry, and honestly I have never had breakfast served so late in a hotel. The only positive note: the swimming pool and the health center are nice, managed by very friendly and supportive staff.

I had a comfortable and enjoyable stay, as always- but would not recommend paying extra for the Executive King room that I had. The only appreciable differences from regular rooms I've stayed in before were the bigger bed - which was lovely- and a small box of five chocolates. In particular, the peeling paint on the window frame was not what I would expect from an "executive" room - nor was the bubbly finish on the work table. Still, I slept like a log in a comfy bed, and had everything I needed for my stay.

  • 3/5 Monika G. 2 years ago on Google
The hotel staff are very friendly and the hotel itself is in a great condition however the room cleanliness left a lot to be desired. I found a fake nail in the middle of the bedroom floor and some hair in the shower. I think this should be improved on in a 4-star hotel especially during a pandemic where we expect the room to have been cleaned to a high standard.

A dated hotel close to the Grand Canal Dock area. Check-in is at 4 pm, and they are strict with it unless the room is ready. I got to the hotel around 10 am, and finally checked in around 2 pm. Two kiosks to check-in or check-out was convenient and easy to use in the main lobby. Large spacious room with king size bed with thick comforter and rough sheets. No AC and can barely crack the windows open, but not enough to get enough cool breeze. Thick heavy loud doors. Large fitness center, but old equipment and weights, opens at 6:30 am. Breakfast was average with an Irish style buffet. Long line starts around 7:00 am when it opens.

Rooms are clean and simple. No thrills or air con but good location and friendly staff. Would stay again. Maybe needs a few more vegan hot options on the breakfast. Could only eat mushrooms and beans. Otherwise a good place.

Your front of house and restaurant staff were excellent and endeavored to fulfill very request I had. I complimented several managers on their helpful and cheerful teams. A new member of staff in the restaurant on Sunday evening was delightful, but I'd suggest guidance during her first few days from more senior staff would be helpful. It did taken some to to have the room serviced, but again helpful staff ensured everything was done. Although the menu is not extensive, the food was good and after being involved with a convention each day, it was great to sit and relax in the hotel restaurant.

I stayed for 2 nights at this hotel. Carpets everywhere including dining rooms. Smelled terribly and wet areas in my room. Icing on the cake was when my 10 year old developed bed bugs in armpit/axillary area. Contacted hotel and they claimed to have sent an investigator with no bedbugs found. My son was on a roll away bed. The facilities in the gym and pool were great although crowded. Breakfast was basic but plentiful. I did not feel it was worth the money spent. Long walk to St. Stephens Green so be prepared.

Lovely hotel, nice spacious rooms and really lovely staff. The only thing I could fault was that our room and the hotel in general was very warm. We switched off the radiator in our room and had a fan on and were still too warm. Other than that it was a very good stay, we booked the pamper package which included dinner, breakfast, afternoon tea and a massage which is great value for money. The location is brilliant if you're seeing a show in the bord gais or have any events in town.

Was thoroughly impressed with the level of service and comfort. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the room was clean and well-appointed. The hotel itself was modern and stylish, with a wide range of amenities. The location was convenient, with easy access to all the best attractions and restaurants in the city.

My first time to stay here and I was really impressed. Great location for staying in Dublin if going to a play or concert. The staff were very professional and extremely accommodating. We booked adjoining rooms which were ideal for us. There were 17 of us booked into various types of accommodation. All was dealt with in a timely manner. No problem ordering taxis from reception. We booked our evening meal here and it catered for all types of palettes. On the occasion of our stay there was a reduced menu which cost them a star in this review. In saying that, everyone could eat from the menu. I can't wait to visit this hotel again and hopefully visit the pool at that time.

Rooms are nice and clean. No air conditioning, only a fan. It was mid August and during warm weather so we had a very uncomfortable sleep. Shower in the bedroom is not great but the shower at the pool was good with good power. Pool is nice, busy but usually enough room to move about, also a sauna, steam room and jacussi. Private changing rooms at pool. They also have the use of a hair straightener as well as a hairdryer so that was handy. The staff at leisure centre were nice and polite. The main reception staff were OK and moderately helpful. We arrived early so were allowed up to our room early which was handy after a long walk from the train station with bags. Can't comment on the food as we ate out, breakfast seemed a bit too pricey. Vending machine and ice dispenser on our floor which was handy. I don't know if they're on all floors. Not too noisy at night. Convenient enough to city centre, about a 15/20 minute walk. However, quite a walk to the nearest shop when you just want to pop out to pick up essentials.

Don't forget to use ʜᴏᴛᴇʟʙoʟʟʏ.ᴄᴏm when booking your hotel. This site will compare countless booking websites and usually will have prices a lot cheaper compared to others! You're welcome :)! This hotel is one of my favorites in this area. I've been staying here for years. If you choose this place you for sure won't be let down. Great hospitality, they helped us when our travel agent messed up our reservations. Restaurant food is very good as well. Buffet style breakfast and its good quality. Rooms were clean and neat. We had one with 2 beds. There was a TV a desk, a table and chairs for them. I would definitely recommend it.

I appreciated their anti-covid efforts and other health/safety measures and we were able to pay with All4One cards - brilliant! The complimentary mulled wine was a nice touch but it was empty both evenings during my stay which was sad. We asked for a quiet room but were put on the 2nd floor where a lot of families were, kids playing in hallways, could hear fam through the wall, etc. They woke us up in the morning, it was NOT quiet! (If management responds, could you tell me what I have to specify at check-in next time in order to actually get a quiet room - request a higher floor or soemthing?) Great location, good effort by management, but not quiet enough for a peaceful getaway.

Very good hotel. Just out of the city centre but only 15-20 minute walk into the city centre. Rooms are a good size, all the staff we encountered were great & very helpful. Handy for the Bord Gas theatre & docklands. Recommended.

Starting from the hospitality service of the staff commencing from reception, staff named Manon from reception was really rude through phone. The staffs at Stir restaurant absolute disappointment. When I ordered room service they asked me to come down to pay for it. After I told them charge it to the room they thought of that option. When you order something through phone they just bang the phone. Absolute disgrace. Staffs are not trained and well mannered. They mentioned 4 star . But the standard of the hotel is one star. When I went to the bar for food, I saw one staff chewing some food in front of customers. Come on! What's wrong with this staff and management. If you visit India and stay in star hotels the services and hospitality are unmatchable. Horrendous, pathetic this is how I would describe the services. Room was pretty decent. Disappointed with no microwave or minibar facility. No air-conditioning..no value for money

We stayed one night in July. We had to postpone our booking several times over the last year due to the pandemic: but Clayton readily facilitated the changes and did not add extra for what changed from a winter special to a summer stay. The staff were very friendly and the food was tasty. Cardiff Lane is in a great location. Look forward to a return visit.

Travelling for work, the hotel is easily accessible once in the City away from the airport. Well kept and clean, the room was spacious and comfortable. Front of house staff were very good and one of the managers (Nicole) looked after us very well following some issues. All in would recommend and thank the staff for our stay.

Good location for city stay, walking distance to train station. We had a very good stay with comfy beds and very good gym. Breakfast was nice and plenty, service good and efficient. There were two things that we didn't enjoy, armchairs in rooms are horrible to sit on and lifts couldn't cope with the demand. There are 3 lifts but one wasn't working at all and the other one stopped working on Monday morning. With 7 floors and 3 additional ground levels it wasn't sufficient causing long waiting time during breakfast and check out.

We had not been planning to stay but due to flight cancellations we had to spend an extra night in the city. The hotel is conveniently located in central Dublin and an easy walk to the business district and local pubs close by. The facilities were great and the rooms were clean and comfortable. The staff were helpful, friendly, and very accommodating.

Everything was great except the service in the bar. Waiting staff there very poor. Had to get up and ask for a menu after 10+ mins. Then had to get up again after a significant wait to order the food. No cucumber relish served with the chicken wings. 1 waitress told me it was on the wings so I asked another who asked the Chef. I was then informed it was out of stock. Room, pool and breakfast very good. Bar waiting staff haven't much interest in looking after customers.

Myself and my family love this hotel. Staff are so friendly from the moment you walk through the door and very helpful. The facilities are great for kids also with a lovely pool. Rooms are spotless including the whole hotel itself. Very central to SSE just a walk away and about a 30min walk to Connolly street with beautiful views along the River Liffey on the way. We return here at least once every year and wouldn’t go anywhere else. Great bar downstairs showing live sports with fantastic cocktails and don’t even get me started on the food. The tastiest steak I’ve ever had and peppered sauce to die for. Also a hop on hop off stop right outside the hotel. Highly recommend.
