The good outweighed the bad. The room we had was at the end of a corridor (no. 3127) so relatively quiet. The room was a good size and I particularly liked the his n her wardrobe spaces. There was a hairdryer and tea/coffee making facilities although the quality of tea/coffee/milk provisions was lacking. There was only 1 rather hard chair though, so to watch TV we had to lie on the bed. Bed was huge and comfortable, not too hard or soft with adequate lighting. We found the room temperature to be perfect and you could open a window a bit if needed. Bathroom was good size and shower over bath powerful but took a long time to get warm. Sadly though showering caused a flood across the bathroom floor and was slow to dry. Food offerings were good but pricey. Staff friendly and helpful especially when one night our room key stopped working. Location - about 6km from airport and a good 40min walk into city centre. But bus stops nearby and at least 2 buses every 10 mins to city centre. 2.60 euros single flat fare. We caught a bus from Dublin airport (zone 15) and got off at Griffith Down which is the closet stop to the hotel. Biggest tip - buses only takes COINS - no notes or card payments accepted. So make sure you keep coins on you for buses.

Food was very good (The Croft). Well prepared, generous portions, reasonably priced. Room was "ok". The hotel has a nice coat of paint, but you can tell the bones underneath are OLD. Was very windy out and you could see the curtains inside the room move with every gust (there was no way to open them . . . just a single pane of glass). The room was adequately warm at least, the draft notwithstanding. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Got a good price so the value was there. Wouldn't pay rack rate for it tho.

This hotel is so close to the airport and equally close to the city, it has onsite a bar restaurant ,the restaurant offers really good food. The rooms are clean nice I felt so relaxed. There is a pool and a wellness centre but most things you need to book way in advance Breakfast is amazing and great price for the location

We stayed here for 3 nights in January 2024. The hotel was clean and the staff were professional and helpful. The hotel was undergoing some construction work but this didn't affect us at all other than a section outside being hidden behind hoarding and spoiling the otherwise impressive look of the hotel. We had a small issue with our shower not working correctly but this was fixed immediately while we went out for breakfast and the hotel staff were very apologetic. We made full use of all the facilities excluding the gym and overall we were very impressed. I have never been in a hotter sauna in my life! If I had to make one criticism it would be the Hotel's location as we spent every day in the temple bar area which is a 15 minute and €15 trip each way. This is no fault of the hotel, of course, but more our bad planning. However, the relatively low cost of the room compared to a hotel in that area made up for this. All in all not a bad choice of stay if you don't mind the daily uber ride.

We visited from Canada, the beds are comfortable and they allowed me to check in early, so that was nice! The hotel however is not 4 stars, as the view from our room was an ugly dirty area, the tub was dirty and at night there was a sewage smell coming out from the pipes. We came late and super tired just to sleep, so it wasn't that bad, but it shouldn't be advertised as a 4 star hotel... I booked through airbnb and they weren't very responsive to my messages before my arrival. I loved Ireland and I'd love to visit again, but I would not pick this hotel again.

A nice hotel , staff are fantastic, had a meal in the croft,( inside the hotel ) portions were very good burger and fries, and chicken pasta. Both meals were very nice. Room was nice, and freshly decorated with plenty of sockets and chargers, and a kettle with tea bags and coffee. The bed was huge and comfortable and the room was clean. The breakfast on both days was good and had a great selection. There are some parts of the hotel looking a bit tired but looks clean 👌. The shop next door also has a good selection

Very poor service, very noisy at night time hard to sleep. Rooms not turned down unless requested, have to repeatedly ask for loo roll and towels. Asked for fridge did not chill got a replacement same thing... would not recommend ever.... I've been to many 2 star hotels that where so so much better.

The hotel staff were so friendly and helpful. The receptionist was lovely, and nothing was a problem. The rooms were modern and very clean. The breakfast was fantastic. We really enjoyed our stay here.

Stayed 2 nights here. The room wasn’t clean, dirty bath towels upon arrival. The room was uncomfortably warm - the air con was useless. On our 3rd day prior to check out the water wasn’t working in any part of the hotel. We rang reception 3 times to see about the water - was told somebody would be sent up to the room to fix the water issue. Nobody came. We had no access to a toilet, shower or running water. No compensation at checkout with the issue. Avoid this hotel at all cost

Everything was fine apart from a member of staff entering our room whilst we were still in bed and asleep at 8:50am. They turned on all the lights and looked around before leaving once they realised we were there. Surely they can wait until we check out? This is the reason for the 2 stars. I did not have breakfast as it was €14 per person so we found somewhere else:) But the room was clean and spacious and I have no complaints except for the intrusion in the morning.

Wall/insulation between rooms incredibly thin so could hear our neighbours every word until 4.00am - they were very loud! Water pressure in shower terrible. Food in restaurant good and reasonably priced and service was very good

Was not happy with our original room as it was close to a function room that had a party, staff at reception changed our rooms and were very helpful. However went to the restaurant and only one staff member was good, the rest stood around chatting and generally avoiding eye contact with you, the restaurant wasn't busy so didn't understand why it was hard to get their attention, I had to leave my meal and go up to the bar to ask for another drink and some salt and pepper. Really for a 4 star hotel there should have been a check back on the food where I could have requested those items. I gave three star because some of the staff were great and helpful like the one girl at the bar and the reception desk staff. But I think some staff need further training as they're not very proactive and it's not the standard of service I'm used to in a 4 star hotel.

A tad out of town but a lovely hotel. The rooms are very hot. We got a fan brought up from reception which made it a bit better. Comfortable beds and good sized rooms. Great bar downstairs. Delicious breakfast.

Myself and a friend stayed at the hotel in August availing of a spa package. The package was good value for money but a few issues mostly to do with staff. Definitely some cleanliness issues throughout the hotel and just not paying attention to detail. The hotel is rated 4 star which I think is very generous considering the issues with the hotel. Definitely needs updating. I had emailed the hotel at the time with some of things I mentioned and I am yet to hear a response. I have sent several emails since then but no acknowledgment of my emails since the first one that was sent almost 2 months ago. This is just adding to the poor customer service.

Rooms were fine - larger than most we’ve had in EU at this price point. Only 1 elevator was working and it’s tiny (expect 2 people with bags or 4 without). Biggest complaint was that our room keys kept being deprogrammed. Not sure what was going on but was apparently common as front desk never questioned it. Just started having them reprogrammed every time we went back to room to save us the extra trip up 4 flights of stairs. Used the same type of keys at every place we stayed on our 2 week vacation and only had the issue here.

Make sure to use ʜᴏᴛᴇʟʙoʟʟʏ.ᴄᴏm when booking a resort. This site will compare countless booking websites and typically will have rates much cheaper compared to others! You're welcome :)! This resort is one of the best in the area. I've been coming here for a long time. If you decide to stay here you for sure won't be let down. Great value for money. Rooms are spacious and comfortable. Really good facilities. Staff are super friendly and helpful.

Just back from a fantastic stay at the bonnington. On arrival we upgraded to one of their suites. The room was huge with a jacuzzi , absolutely amazing . All the staff were so accommodating from start to finish. A special mention to Head chef Rob who came out to talk with us and explain the beautiful food he had just prepared for us. At breakfast we had the pleasure of been served by Theresa and she went above and beyond to make us feel welcome, everything was fresh and delicious.

What can I say, we had the most amazing experience for a small 30 people wedding meal. We didn't ask for anything spacific as it was a laid back affair but when we got there to see the effort and the attention to detail was beautiful. The tables were stunning and the simplified menu was perfect. Everyone loved the food and we can't speak highly enough of the staff. The rooms were perfect. Spotless and comfortable. Thank you Bonnington from the bottom of our hearts for making our day so magical

Bonnington review We recently stayed in the bonnington hotel for two nights. The hotel is lovely. Staff very friendly on arrival. We went to the croft bar & restaurant for food. It was beautiful. Staff also very nice and attentive. Our room was lovely. We got 2 decent nights sleep no noise outside which was great. The only thing i would say was bad was. We booked this hotel for its pool & jacuzzi facilities. We went down to use them and first off you have to go down a long corridor to find the elevator to get to the swimming pool. Its right down in the basement. We were not happy with the jacuzzi been closed. Other then that a lovely stay. Bus was close for town. We were very happy. We will be back again.

This hotel was a nice surprise. The location is good for Dublin city, you may need a taxi to get to places but it shouldn't cost too much. The rooms are nice and well maintained. We had food which was nice with good staff and atmosphere. The pool and sauna was nice and warm. All the staff were helpful and friendly so overall a great stay. We had a late check out also which was very helpful. Breakfast was one of the better ones I had and again the staff in the breakfast room were great.

At the Bonnington (Dublin) the view outside our room was dead birds rotting both visits. Different rooms booked 1 week apart, different dead birds. What's happening to the birds? The bathrooms smell like sewer gas. The staff are friendly, the room was nice and cool at night, and we had working hot water. Breakfast is a typical hotel breakfast, not great not bad. The supermarket right next door was very convenient. Of all the places we stayed in Ireland, despite my detailed complaints, it was one of the better ones.

The Bonnington Hotel staff are AMAZING. Travelling round Ireland and Europe I'm really struggling to find another Hotel with friendlier staff. Our 2 kids loved the hotel and again the staff made our 2 day stay fantastic! 10/10 to all the Staff of the Bonnington Hotel. Thankyou! We will be back.

Beautiful hotel easy 20min bus ride to downtown and 10 min walk from a bunch of bars and restaurants. They have a spa area pool, Jacuzzi that I didn't use. Staff is mostly nice and helpful they helped me get in my room earlier which I super appreciated. One guy only is not particularly friendly but all others are great! Recommended. Great breakfast too!

Had a lovely stay here last Saturday, rooms were so comfortable and quiet to sleep in. All pool amenities working very well. All well done up to a high standard. Close to local bars and not far from city would happily return.

I attended a function in the Ballroom last night (4.11). It was my first visit and I was extremely impressed with the surroundings, the meal and most importantly the service. Staff at all levels were exceptionally helpful and professional. (Teresa in particular - hope that I have her name correct. Beautiful mature lady with blonde hair.) Thank you to the team in the Ballroom for making our night very special and one to remember always. Highly recommend The Bonnington Hotel.

My room was lovely, clean & cosy. Staff very pleasant as always. I hadn't stayed for years & this was the first time I stayed in a hotel after the death of my husband this year. The staff are lovely & I felt safe. A big plus when a lady travelling alone. Breakfast was plentiful and hot. Great choice of everything. I will certainly return.

Good hotel in many respects. Ideal for weekend breaks in Dublin. Rooms were clean and comfortable. On site swimming pool is obviously very popular. We were let down by very slow service in McGettigan's bar which was also quite expensive for what we got. Would love the management to set up an attempt to address the many things that need fixing around the hotel in order to improve the overall experience.

I have regularly attended The Bonnington since 2017 with the exception of the Covid Years. The rooms are clean, spacious and quiet. Great for sleeping and working. The staff are without exception polite and attentive, especially in the bar where Stephen (Bar Manager) is an ever present. Stephen is a credit to any organisation while Ronan and the rest of the team support him admirably. The swimming pool is a good size and there is a fabulous Gym. I absolutely recommend this hotel. It is approximately 7km outside of Dublin City and the same distance from the airport.

No complaints and overall pleasant experience. My husband and I stayed 2 nights and chose this hotel for its location between the airport and downtown main area. It has a bus stop conveniently within a 3 minute walk and felt safe even at night. Staff was friendly and helpful- we left our baggage with the front desk when early check in wasn't available (there were many bags so I would advise to not bank on early check in) and when our room key did not work they quickly fixed it. Finally, the room itself was clean. Fortunately we visited when the days were hot but cooled at night so an open window and fan were sufficient to keep cool. Did not try the restaurant downstairs but overall would recommend.

The worst hotel ever Noisy, dirty, not clean properly...the hotel is like from shining movie... only nice place is reception and the areas there. The rest is long way from 4star hotel maybe 2star Huge disappointment and I will never recommend to anyone People and staff are lovely but the rest is huge joke

We went for Halloween weekend. Got free tickets for Emerald Park with the hotel stay. It was fabulous breakfast was included. And the staff were lovely. Pool wasn't open but they have to mend theses things sometimes. IT didn't matter it was relaxing and a great weekend .Would recommend a visit. Bus stop just outside the hotel,so you could hop on and go to Dublin. Don't try to take the car not worth the hasel. Loved the weekend away would recommend and would go again

Three star hotel at best. Even then, I've stayed at 3 stars before that payed better attention to details. We got checked into a room with two beds, a double and a twin. We thought it was cool to have the extra bed even when we didn't need it. The room was spacious and nicely decorated. There was ample space for hanging clothes, which is a huge plus. But there were small stains all over the carpet that made me want to pretend the floor was lava. The remote for the TV wasn't working properly, and the workers came to replace it promptly. There were mold issues in the window as well as condensation that was dripping into the floor as we slept. This should be loomed at because the curtains were being affected as well. The bed was clean but very hard and uncomfortable. 2 of the 3 towels left in the room had stains on them. The cleaning service provided during our stay, was disappointing. Clean towels were left on top of the toilet (gross). The mugs we used were swapped with dirty looking replacements and the bed looked like the blanket had been picked up and thrown down over everything. Maybe we expected too much from a this hotel.

A group of us stayed here for a night away in two executive triple rooms. From check-in, through afternoon tea, dinner, spa treatments and check-out, we were so well looked after. The staff are so friendly which made our stay that much better. The facilities in the hotel were great- big swimming pool and a lovely bar/restaurant.

We loved this hotel. Clean ...has cute restaurant attached. Beautiful spa. And steam room...and pool is nice and warm...clean..large. We highly recommend!

The staff were friendly and the bed was comfortable. However, the air conditioning was poor and it made no difference - it was stifling! Also, there was no water provided! I've never been to a hotel where water wasn't provided. When I realized, it was late in the night and their bar was closed, which meant that I had to drink tap water.

  • 4/5 Carolin O' B. 1 year ago on Google
Pool and breakfast was the best thing. Food in Crofts was absolutely fantastic. No robes or water in the room which is standard 4 star basics. More a 3 star hotel and having a pool adds another star. Loads of chunks of enamel missing in the bath making it look cheap. Beds are the most comfortable I've ever had. I definitely would stay again.

Nice hotel but we weren’t aware that there was a poker tournament on, the restaurant had told us there was a fixed menu due to this, which we didn’t mind. We wanted the steak but we’re told it wasn’t on the menu. But then we saw people from this tournament ordering steak so we were a bit confused. The rooms were also boiling and people in other rooms partying til all hours with music blaring. But overall the staff were lovely, the rooms were clean and big and the restaurant was nice. Just don’t go during a poker tournament I guess!

I chose the hotel for a one night layover in Dublin because of its proximity to the airport and the size of the indoor pool. All in all, it was acceptable (maybe acceptable for a 3 star hotel, not 4 star). The rooms are basic and a bit claustrophobic. The air conditioner is loud. There is no room service. I really liked the indoor pool but they were out of towels and made me go to the reception (on another floor) in my swimsuit to get towels. It seemed like something the fitness center should have sorted out without having hotel guests roam the complex hotel corridors. The kids loved breakfast and the waitress was really accommodating. That and the pool were probably the best part of the stay.

Great hotel. We stayed here recently with our 3 month old and they were so accommodating to us. We had a cot in our room and even a mini fridge (if they can get one) for milk. The breakfast is amazing, so much choice and it kept my husband and I going all day especially when out with a baby. We really enjoyed the pool and it was the first time our little one had a swim. The staff are so helpful and friendly. The only thing that is a little frustrating is the parking, there is limited spots in front of the hotel but there is parking at the shop next door. It's definitely worth the money and we are definitely going to stay there again.

Hotel staff were friendly especially reception. Bar is nice 👍🏼 Bed smelled like the person before. Room was never cleaned properly. Blood stains on the night table next to one bed. Toilet wasn't that clean either and it was never cleaned during our entire stay for 4 nights. I have travelled a lot in my life and this hotel might come close to a 2 star hotel but NEVER EVER to a 4 star hotel time for the management to remove 2 stars from the hotel. Breakfast was terrible no fruit choice some of the food looked like it was warmed up before.

Pros: Great spacious and warm room. The bed was big and super comfy, had great sleep. The gym is well equiped. I really enjoyed the pool, jacuzzi and sauna. Grocery shop is a minute walk away if you don't want to eat in the restaurant. Cons: Spoilt milk in rooms. Hotel looks quite sad from outside (front looks fine but the rusty side does not). View on the grey roof is not great - would be wonderful if there was a garden or something but not a big deal. Didn't understand why it's so important to have bathing caps in the pool. But I can say I didn't mind the downsides much and really enjoyed the stay.

We were in lreland for a funeral and this was the closest to were we needed to be this is the first time we had stayed but was pleasantly surprised. The hotel is very large and has it own bar area that you can also eat in and a swimming pool (which we never used due to the sad time we were over for)and a larger room were you could have breakfast. Regarding the breakfast there was plenty to choose from and as much as you like. The food in the bar was also lovely and very good value for money. It was a 20 mins bus ride right into the centre of Dublin and on the way back we decided to walk which took us around 40 mins but the real best part of the hotel was the staff from the bar staff breakfast staff reception staff even the cleaners everyone of them we very helpful and couldn't do enough to make your stay pleasurable all the staff really make this hotel I would recommend this hotel and will defernatly be staying there again 😊👍💚

Just had a lovely night in this hotel. Staff were helpful, rooms were clean though definitely need some regrouting in bathrooms etc. Food was yum, breakfast had everything you'd expect apart from fresh fruit. The pool was lovely and child friendly (bring a swimming hat though!). Overall great value for money and would visit again!

Excellent Hotel, great value, very clean and modern room. Nice atmosphere in Bars and restaurants. Quality food. Very friendly and most helpful staff. Location offered easy access to Dublin city centre and to Dublin Airport. We enjoyed our weekend stay and would certainly recommend it to our friends. Thank you.

We were here for four nights. The property had all necessary facilities including a bar that is open until late. The staff at reception are very pleasant and extremely helpful. You are allowed to keep bags behind reception before and after you check in/out which is very convenient. The room itself is lovely and very spacious - cannot fault it at all as slept very well each night. Pricing was good considering Dublin itself is ridiculously expensive and the property is located next to a supermarket and restaurant which is convenient. This is a short walk to the nearest bus stop or a 20min walk into town. Would definitely consider again when in the area.

Stayed for 5 nights on business rather than pleasure trip. 4 Star Rating stretching it, but decent all around. Good location. Staff very professional and helpful. Comfortable bed, room very nice and clean. Only disappointment really was breakfast was lukewarm to cold every morning - clearly heatlamps not hot enough. Food quality very good, breakfast service really good/quick with tea etc.

Friendly enough staff but absoloutly abysmal service from one lady in the croft bar. I was told no flavoured gin. When there were quite a few. My husband ended up googling what one of the sauces was because she didn't know and/or seemed unwilling to find out. One of our party had his whole dinner order missed. Bar manager did his best to help which was appreciated. Breakfast was delicious and the lady who showed us our table and gave us tea/coffee was attentive. Competent check in and out. Lovely and clean and fresh smelling room with amazingly comfortable bed. Room was hot and dark as we faced an inner courtyard wall. Bathroom very cramped but clean and presentable.

The lad on reception was very slow and looked confused while checking us in. Rooms were lovely. Bathrooms need updating. Not to keen on climbing into a bath to have a shower. Food wasn't great. Had the chicken curry was very oily and the curry was split chicken over cooked. Would have sent it back but in a hurry to go see a show. Night reception was lovely very helpful. Breakfast was good. I would give it another try.

The kitchens close at 9.30 pm. So if you arrive late you'll have to eat peanuts. So bring some sandwiches with you at least. I didn't get to order the burger & fries but at €21 it must be good! The staff are hard-working and friendly. It's relatively near the Airport & the number 1 & 16 buses pass the hotel into the city centre.

The worst place I have ever stayed. Toilet blocked in room. No batteries in remote. Key reader on door broken. Bars close at the ridiculous time of 11pm. And after all that we requested to add late check out to be told they were fully booked. We checked online, plenty of rooms still available. Would not stay again if I was paid. Incredible they have the audacity to play this place off as a 4 star hotel. Two at the very best and that’s being generous.
