This was a real hidden gem of the trip. We booked this out of curiosity about a week before we went and it did not disappoint. Stephen (our guide/story teller and performer) was just amazing. He gave us a truly memorable experience with his delivery through every section. Dont be fooled this is not a picture to picture museum. This is a theater performance in a way, one in which we were just amazed as to how great it was. I would give this a go and just have a look at the images (if they upload) as some of the layouts are just incredible.

We visited The National Leprechaun Museum last week and were pleasantly surprised! Our guide Stefan was brilliant, really kept everyone engaged and hanging on his every word. Great stories, history and folklore. Great selection of books in the gift shop.

Walked in off the street with no advance booking and was warmly welcomed, just in time for a tour. The interior is a very immersive experience with very well thought out surprises in each room, escorted by a very entertaining storyteller. The 45 minute tour was dramatic, comedic and full of very interesting stories about the history of folklore in Ireland. My 7 year old girl held her attention for most of the time and was allowed to engage with the scenery when her interest waned. Lots of interesting books in the gift shop, and great photo opportunity props. Highly recommended for locals and tourists alike!

This was a very entertaining event... The dark tour for adults only was definitely worth the visit. Paudie, our guide, was very funny and a great singing voice. Great to learn some of Ireland's folklore... Though not too much about Leprechauns. If you have the time, then pop in and experience for yourself.

Wow! The storytelling was so great! Even my kids mentioned how great the storytelling was. Highly recommended visit, especially with children. We learned more about authentic Irish folklore…which is different from what Walt Disney made.

Wasn’t sure what to expect when we arrived at the museum, but was not disappointed in any way shape or form. The staff were super friendly and our tour guide went out of her way to make it an enjoyable experience. I cannot stress enough how much you are missing out if you do not visit this museum. An absolute highlight of day.

(edited review from November 2023) I didn't know what to expect at first but it turned out to be a wonderful experience. It is not a 'museum' but rather a storytelling experience. The guide was so enthusiastic that it was so mesmerizing to listen to him telling stories. Definitely recommended if you are interested in Irish folktales in general as the tour does not focus on leprechauns only. It's such a wonderful experience. They also have a tiny store where they sell many kinds of books of Ireland and Irish folklore.

I honestly wanted to love this experience and was very excited to go. After recently relocating (it looks like my review is the first to be posted since they were closed), the space still needs a lot of improvement - the rooms are incredibly drab, and include NONE of what previous photos show. Seriously; do not expect your experience to look like the photos in other reviews. It was literally 18€ just to be told three folk tales (one which wasn’t about leprechauns) in three different bland and cold rooms. I didn’t get to see a single depiction of a leprechaun. Literally, zero. Previous one star reviews are entirely accurate. This place should not boast the title of “National Leprechaun Museum” whatsoever; perhaps “Folklore Storytelling Experience” would be more accurate. Not worth the money - do not get your hopes up.

An amazing museum detailing the history and legend surrounding leprechauns in Ireland. The museum has a unique way of telling the story which is both captivating for adults and children a like. The staff are really friendly and knowledgeable. If you are a big group it would be advisable to book in advance.

    To start off, i feel like most folk here aren't aware of what folklore actually is. It's stories verbally told to one another! That's also how the irish folk collection has been seeing folklore now. Conclusion? I had an amazing time. It might not be your traditional museum, but it is one true to it's quest so to speak. If you're looking for a way to truly experience irish folklore in it's truest form, do not look further then this! They also have amazing books and every single storyteller is very passionate about their work which is lovely to see. Definite recommend, better then staring at statues i'm not even allowed to touch nor can experience! Notes; i think this storytelling experience is amazing for blind folk, i would recommend it less to deaf folk or bad of hearing people, as it'll probably be hard to keep up. Hope they get accessible stuff for that soon too! The museum is wheelchair accessible. Also reminder; this is literally a small business. That's why it's a tad more expensive! But atleast you get your moneys worth and am not giving it to thieves like in the british museum (;

This museum was unlike any other I’ve been to, in a positive way. It’s a multimedia venue but was unlike anything else as it revolves around storytelling. You have a personal guide/storyteller & it’s very entertaining. It revolves around Irish history, culture & mythology. I found it to be one of the more unique things I’ve done in a while.

Not a 'museum' in the traditional sense. More of a story telling experience from a guide over a few themed rooms. But still a really cool experience, much enjoyed! All the staff we met were very nice and invested & knowledgeable in the topic.

We booked this as a surprise for our teenage kids, during a day trip to Dublin, on 6th April. They were expecting people in green costumes, and something tacky, but what they got was the exact opposite. Our story teller for the hour we were there was Deirdre, and she was fantastic. She was able to tell us all about the legends and myths surrounding the Leprechauns and the other mythical creatures within Ireland's cultural history. My kids were enthralled, and loved every minute of it. Even us adults were captivated by the stories. An absolute gem of a place, and I would recommend it to anyone going to Dublin. I would definitely go back, as by the sounds of it, the stories that are told vary by the audience, and who the storyteller is.

I really wanted to like this tour and was looking forward to it, but it was a huge disappointment. It’s our first time visiting Ireland, and we decided to do the Darkside tour for 18+. Even though our storyteller was great, the stories he told weren’t entertaining. They were quite boring. We expected some scary stories. Not a single story was about leprechauns! The gift shop was disappointing also. There was barely any leprechaun souvenirs in it. Maybe this museum should be renamed the National Folklore Museum.

This place is unassuming but fantastic. Demonstrating the role of storytelling in passing of historical lessons and morals. The host was energetic and talented. A great place for kids (and the young at heart).

A little surprise (pun intended). The experience blew us away! The tour guide was an excellent story teller and I recommend this to everyone passing through Dublin. The only regret is that the night tour was all booked up for the next two weeks and I wasn't able to go :(. Nonetheless the day tour is still excellent! This place is a lot of fun for all the ages! I listen to the podcast now for a bit of extra lore, it's quite enjoyable.

You have GOT TO VISIT! This is - other worldly! The visit was fantastic. You went through different rooms, which was ok, and different to what you'd expect, but it was the story telling that went with it. It made it so interesting and special! The passion the lady put into telling the stories, she should be on a stage and earning lots of money! She was amazing! Thank you sooo much for the experience, it will stay with us for life! A visit to Ireland and here . . , Thank you xx

This was one of the best experiences that we had in Ireland - Naoise was an absolutely incredible storyteller, and really made the stories come alive. While the museum itself was more of an experience than a display of physical cultural heritage and artefacts, it still - in my opinion - was a wonderful way to pass on the intangible heritage of Ireland that is what helped shape the country for millennia. I'm so glad to see that this kind of heritage is being presented and preserved for future generations to come!

From the time we stepped through the door, to the moment we emerged from Leprechaun land we were immersed in the fantasia land of Irish folklore. Fantastic😉! Folklore telling at it's finest. I particularly like that the experience takes you back to what storytelling was like yesteryear. No CGI, the craft work and attention to detail; from the map room to the final Leprechaun's tale, money well spent. Jade was a star. Go with an open mind and a childlike imagination and you won't be disappointed.

This was fantastic!! I could have sat and listened for 3 more hours with no issues. We expected a museum to walk around and half read some posters and be in and out in 20 mins, but no! The guide sits you in these amazing scenes and tells you stories about Irish folklore and mythology and how stories have come about. It was fascinating and entertaining. The guide was brilliant in his delivery and kept us all on tenterhooks. 10/10 would recommend.

Although it has museum on it, this amazingly enchanted place is actually a full experience. First, You get to know more about a life of a leprechaun, then brilliant storyteller (your guide) will help you to immerse in a world full of myths, magic and also a bit of irony and sadness. At the end you see yourself inside surrounded by a huge amount of fairy and folk tales books and other thing in the gift shop. Great place to learn more about stories.

The National Leprechaun Museum is one of the tours that is an absolute must when you visit Dublin. It is nothing like the other tours you will go on and really gives a unique glimpse into some of the history of Ireland while also making it fun and exciting. The tour is more of a story telling tour where you will hear tales of the fae and the underworld. The tour is suitable for people of all ages and is gripping from start to finish. I have gone on this tour 4 times in total with different friends and family when visiting and this also includes the night tour which happens in the evenings at the weekend - this one is recommended for a more mature audience with some darker stories to explore. I highly recommend this tour and promise that you will miss out on a truly unique experience if you pass it by!

A must for anyone visiting Ireland and seeking some storytelling at its finest! Our storyteller and guide Deirdre was fantastic and filled with knowledge and facts, and was even a great help when it came to the books on offer at the bookshop. Highly interactive and enjoyable walk through tour, with sights and smells really entertaining for all ages. I'd recommend and is really worth the price.

Really good and nice experience! The guide was really prepared and share everything about Irish culture with us. I would have liked a little bit more exchange with us and some interactive experience. But a museum to see if you are in Dublin. 45 minutes inside irish culture and fairies and leprechaun!

Daytime tour was very good very humorous and stories were very good and very informative. The tour guide really put on a show and showed she really enjoyed her job. The night time tour started off with swearing and good humour the tour guide also really put on a show. However it was very dull towards the end the stories were not scary or informative and I wouldn’t really be scared to tell a six-year-old a story of old man playing instruments with his bones very very very dull almost fell asleep they really need to change your material for the night time show I would not recommend going at night. Not many leprechaun stories at night either really disappointing I can see why it’s not very busy

Very cool museum! Stephen our guide did an amazing job making the stories of the fairies and leprechauns of Irish myth come alive. Admission is a little pricey but it’s worth it for a break from the over-commercialized Temple Bar area

Loved the experience. Based on the name (National Leprechaun Museum of Ireland), we expected a walk through exhibit, displaying artifacts. Instead, we got a (great) storytelling performance by Sara/Sarah. Not what we expected, but outstanding, nonetheless. Not sure if it's a great place to take kids. The legends and stories get kind of dark, and there's not much imagery. Before booking, I suggest looking at the website - they do a pretty good job of explaining what the whole thing is about : https://www.leprechaunmuseum.ie/ Again, not a traditional museum with exhibits, but a great experience. They need a tip jar.

Loved this place! Super friendly, energetic and happy staff 🥰 I honestly think they made a great museum into an amazing one! My eldest daughter and I visited and will be returning with my other children. The guide Cici (I hope I spelt that right!) Thank you very much and we will definitely be returning ❤️

There is nothing much about visual in the museum.. I would rather call it a story telling experience about Leprechaun. It has to be guided by the tour guide where he will lead to you to a few rooms, everyone sit down and he tells stories about Leprechaun, and finally guide you to the exit which is the gift store, nothing much to see and take photo. But the story telling is really good by the tour guide. A little bit pricy.

  • 1/5 Dom M. 4 years ago on Google
My friends and I had to come back three separate times just to be able to get in. Every time we were there right at the time they told us to come and were told it was too late since the "tour" already began. I would suggest telling people to come 10 minutes prior to the time instead. Also, there is a lack of seating. You will be standing for long periods of time. If you are elderly and cannot stand for too long, I would not suggest doing this. The best part about this place was the gift shop. There is potential for this museum to be a lot of fun, there just needs to be A LOT of changes made.

What a lovely experience! Easy to follow and enjoy even under severe jetlag. Deirdre was such a wonderful storyteller and really expressed her passion for the lore of Ireland. We appreciate all the extra stories and recommendations she shared with us after the tour.

I've been about three different times now. It's always a little different depending on the storyteller. They're great though, and the dark show in the evenings is super fun too.
