I recently took my first trip to the Hugh Lane Gallery in Dublin, and I was thoroughly impressed! I went to see the Andy Warhol exhibition, which exceeded my expectations. The Gallery went to tremendous efforts to showcase the works of this great artist. The building itself is elegant, well-preserved, clean, and hosts security/support staff throughout the building. An additional benefit upon this trip was seeing the perfectly restored art studio of Irish legend Francis Bacon, located within the building. Between the exhibitions, the Irish art work, and Bacon studio, a trip to the Hugh Lane Gallery is a highly recommend trip for anyone in Dublin. It requires paid-entry, it is wheelchair friendly throughout, and had a café, toliet facilities, shop, and a room to leave your bag and coats.

What a discovery! Perfect sized museum with an astonishingly interesting collection of art. No entrance fee! Strong focus on Irish artists, such as Keats. My highlights: the original studio of Dublin-born Francis Bacon and 6 unfinished portraits by Bacon. And a room with several big paintings by Sean Scully. Impressive rooms, beautiful old building. Also nice: little cabinet with masterpieces of stained glass. Nice café.

In early February 2010, I went to the cafe at this gallery with my college and I paid 20 euros for the pastry and drink but I didn't get my change back. My mentor, one of the staff members and one of my fellow students said to me that I gave the lady €5 but I didn't give her a fiver. I just gave her €20. Then I told the lady that I gave her €20. She said to me that I didn't give her €20 and I said to her, "Yes I did." I wasn't lying 🤥. It must be my old mentor's or college's fault. I was really upset about it and my €20 just got robbed. It was the worst college trip I ever had. I am never coming back to the cafe at this gallery ever again! I'd say it is definitely the worst café in Dublin I've ever been to as well. Don't worry I still like the gallery itself. It's a fabulous gallery. I've been to this gallery about several times. I think I gave the gallery a four out of five stars.

The Francis Bacon room is just amazing, his studio is in the gallery 😍. I saw the Hara K Bell 🔔 beautiful. His art is conceptual, not my thing but hey, the bell was cool af 😎. A thing of beauty created from weapons of death. So it's deep and moving. I dislike those old paintings of the rich, the eyes 👀 freak me out. Its like Instagram in the 1500s except your filter was a fella with a paintbrush. Heaven forbid a female could be just as good, thank goodness for some changes. Anyway the gallery is cool. Go if you like that kinda stuff. Or if you've never been to an art gallery, it's a good start.

fav art museum in dublin! the permanent collection is small but engaging and easy to enjoy. they even had monet and manet pieces. also loved the we can can can exhibition, really cool and eye opening. the facilities were good, with a cafe shop and coat room downstairs. the only bummer is that the andy warhol exhibition is 20 euros, an inaccessible ticket price (even if it’s warhol..)

Art Gallery housing paintings belonging to the famous collector and bequeathed to Dublin city. There's a sizeable collection, featuring a large smattering of modern art, impressionist, nineteenth and twentieth century portraits. Also on show is a permanent exhibition on eccentric British painter Francis Bacon as well as temporary ones of present day artists!

Nice gallery with modern art as well as impressionist masterpieces by Monet, Manet and Degas plus Francis Bacon studio and collection. There was also a temporary exhibition of children's paintings. It is a rather small gallery but the admission is free and it is definitely worth visiting it. Check the opening hours before coming in (I think it is closed on Mondays).

Museum with the right size to enjoy all the pieces. The collection has artwork from very famous painters plus a good selection of Irish painters. The highlight of the gallery is the workshop of Francis Bacon, and the multimedia content about his work and his life. Even if you are not a Bacon fan, you learn from his process as a painter.

Went to Hugh Lane Gallery for the first time yesterday and it is a gem of a gallery in Dublin. The Warhol exhibition which overlaps with Francis Bacon's Studio and collection was super. All the gallery staff are so lovely and obliging too. Definitely worth the trip.

Lovely art gallery at top of Parnell Square. Interesting selection of paintings. The history of the gallery is also interesting. The original plan was to build it on a bridge across the Liffey. Some beautiful stained glass by Harry Clarke. Entry to the gallery is free, and you can make a voluntary donation of you wish. Currently it is compulsory to wear a mask while you are in the gallery.

The weekly concerts at noon here are incredible, expertly chosen performances in an incredibly important and historic building amongst some of the most notable paintings and sculptures of mainly European artists. The Francis Bacon studio is one of the key attractions here, completely unique.

The Hugh Lane Gallery Interesting information about Sir Edwin Lutyens architect of the original proposed Gallery in Dublin. Sir Edwin Lutyens designed the Cenotaph in London, the Thiepval Memorial to the Missing of the Somme in Picardy France and the Irish National War Memorial Gardens in Dublin.

I visited the Hugh Lane Gallery in November and took part in a lecture about Pop Art. It was amazing and they had such a brilliant Andy Warhol exhibition put together. If you are interested in arts and culture and would like to extend your horizons I definitely recommend a visit there (not to mention that most of their programs are free of charge). I would definitely go back if given the chance.

Nice place for a quick stop off. Really enjoyed the summer arts music going on outside when I was here. Gallery and exhibitions for me lacked a clear and coherent vision. Was a bit of a small hodgepodge for me of eras and styles

Work always beautifully presented. Some beautiful pieces with the pastel media and two other works made using gouache & watercolour. Very fine clear clean line subtle layer of colour. Absolute gems, I would also call them icons. Work by S. Solomen. The staff in the Gallery always very welcoming & always a feeling of cleanliness at every level. The lockers are a great addition. Keep up the good work.. The free Art Gallery in our country is so appreciated.

I really enjoyed the impressionist part of the gallery. There aren't many pictures, but some of them are so beautiful they make this place worth a visit. The reproduction of the studio of Francis Bacon is amazing, I loved it! The visit itself is quite short, it won't take you more than an hour, but I recommend you go if you're art lovers and have some spare time

We stumbled across this museum because the Writers Museum was closed, and we're so happy that we did. Dublin was very lucky to have a patron like Hugh Lane. The modern art is stunning. So many surprises. And the building is architecturally stunning.

A very recommendable gallery. Just fitting size for a few hours visit. Free admission. Mostly modern art, but I do think the collection is enjoyable for every art lover. The stories behind Hugh Lane and the beautiful Charlemont House are interesting and worth learning. There is a café and a bookshop. The café is especially pleasant.

Nice for an hour or two to get a take of early 20th and late 19th century art in Ireland. Set in a beautiful building, lots of seating to rest and not nearly as busy as the national gallery. Interesting to see the connection in society at the time and what could have happened to the Hapenny Bridge! Interesting exhibition of Francis Bacon and his studio and some modern art. As someone who doesn't normally go to art exhibitions, it was most enjoyable. Admission free.

Probably my favourite gallery in Dublin. Free entrance promotes culture to people across different classes. The building itself is quite nice: long corridors, lots of light and a few benches for visitors to sit and take some instants to observe portraits.

We came especially to see the Warhol exhibition. Some classic pieces, together with a decent sound of early sketches. Slightly spoiled by the chaotic gallery layout. We have no idea if we saw it all! Some fine impressionist works in the other galleries. Bacon's studio is almost as messy as mine

In for the Andy Warhol exhibition and tour which was brilliant. Dublin modern art gallery, covering distinctive European artists from Bacon, Clark, Degas, Henry, Lavery, Monet, Manet, Scott, Shelly, Yeats. All on one floor, 2 mins from Parnell Luas. Cafe and toilets too. Also free.

(Translated by Google) Hugh Lane's Dublin City Gallery has an exceptional history based on the revolutionary vision of Sir Hugh Lane himself. Hugh Lane hosted the first exhibition of Irish art in 1904 in London and continued to innovate, endowing the gallery with a unique and exceptional collection of contemporary art, including the first Impressionist paintings in any public collection in Britain and Ireland. Sir Hugh Lane presented the collection to the Dublin Corporation (now Dublin City Council) in 1908. He has greatly expanded the collection, focusing on the exceptional. The gallery continues to focus on contemporary art and excellence in Irish art practice. The gallery has acquired Francis Bacon's studio and archive - an exciting and unique resource attracting audiences, artists and historians from home and abroad. With its dynamic and critically acclaimed programming and world renowned collections, the Gallery plays a very important cultural role in Ireland. Registered charitable organization, it is part of Dublin City Council. The gallery is located at Charlemont House in Parnell Square North and is open to the public Tuesday through Sunday. Closed Monday. But the most interesting moment is the original by Claude Monet "Waterloo Bridge", the price of which is estimated at 35.5 million dollars.
