Came here because of reputation for being a good seafood restaurant. Three of the five of us arrived early so just sat outside enjoying the neighborhood. About 20 minutes passed and a host came out. We told her we were just waiting till our friends arrived. She asked if we would like to see a drink menu and we agreed. She never brought it out. When our other two friends arrived I went it to ask if we could be seated even though we were about ten minutes early. The same host recognized me and must have realized we were still outside waiting for drink menus. I told her we were all here. We were seated. Joe was our server. Two of us ordered martinis. I asked for an Absolute Martini straight up with three olives. My friend asked for a dirty martini. The drinks were awful - far too much vermouth. My friend said she couldn’t even taste the vodka because there was so much vermouth. We decided not to complain at the moment but would alert Joe after that the martinis were made wrong - not wanting our money back but just to be helpful. Joe said that “in Ireland martinis are made with a 1:1 ratio of vermouth to vodka.” We all at the table thought that was odd but since this was our first time in Ireland we didn’t pursue it. Later when we got back to our hotel we asked the bartender there how martinis were made in Ireland because we were told at a restaurant that they were made differently than in the US. The bartender seemed puzzled but told us martinis in Ireland are made just like the US - shot of vodka and just a tiny splash of vermouth. We don’t like being told a tale by Joe, the waiter. Maybe he thought that he was telling the truth but an apology for not liking the drinks would have been nice. BTW the food was okay but nothing spectacular.

Really loved SOLE in Dublin City centre. The staff were super friendly, welcoming and knew their stuff about wines and food. The Christmas menu was lovely and the food was very tasty. Definitely worth a visit for a great meal in a very nice atmosphere. Covid checks were carried out for awesome peace of mind too!

We went here for my wife's birthday dinner on our first night in Dublin, and it couldn't have been more perfect. From the incredible seafood and oysters to the in-house dry-aged steaks, we loved every bite. Our server Lucas was both hilarious and attentive, and also gave us time to talk and celebrate. Wonderful experience, 10/10!

Staff was very kind from the start all the way to the end. We had a great server named Jesus he was above and beyond with the work he did. The food was also very nice with a good blend of flavour and looks. The food was very fresh. Would come again.

My wife and I had reservations, and were seated promptly. I ordered the scallops appetizer which were very well prepared and tasty. My wife had the creamy Fish Chowder. It was loaded with fish and other ingredients as was also quite good. We both ordered the Sea Bass. The Sea Bass was fair. The filet was very thin and cooked with the skin intact which adds, in my opinion, a more oily taste. The service of the entree was very slow and I had to question our server as to the status of the entree. It took longer than necessary for delivery to our table.

High end seafood and dining. After a long day in the city we looked forward to our reservations here. We felt underdressed in jeans but service was wonderful and the food was meticulous. Wonderful wine and drink selection.. We splurged on a seafood tower and the presentation was incredible. Everything was fresh and delicious! The salmon dish melted in your mouth. Mouthwatering desserts we tried included the deconstructed pavlova with berries and the chocolate and lemon cake with toasted meringue and sorbet.

My wife and I went here for dinner on a Sunday evening at 18:30. Restaurant was pretty full, and unfortunately that meant you were quite tightly packed in to your tables, so it felt a little bit like you were eating with another couple. The food was fairly good. The dishes came with plenty of seafood, which all tasted nice. Service let them down on this evening though. We were welcomed nicely at the front door, and taken straight to our seats. The service from then was pretty average, certainly not the level you expect for the price you pay. We ordered a bottle of wine, which never arrived, and at no point were we asked if we wanted anymore drinks. During the meal no one checked in to see if everything was okay, and despite my wife being clear about her allergies, she still had a very minor allergic reaction to the starter (nothing a benadryl couldn't sort straight away). Overall the experience was okay, but for the price it felt a little lacking.

A very popular place, with wonderful ambience, good food and great service! We headed over here after having to make reservations; after our arrival we could see why the place is so popular. Service is very attentive, and the atmosphere is great! Love the nautical-themed bar/seating area. I was not too hungry so I ordered only appetizers; the shared prawn cocktail along with fish stew was plenty. The Husband had seared mackerel as an appetizer and said it's the best he's ever had. The deliciousness of the food is reflected in the prices, but it's not overdone; our bill for four people was €240, and this included a few glasses of wine and liquor. If you're looking for a finer-dining experience while in Dublin, SOLE is a very good choice!

I love the chowder soup, it was full of fish and vegetable, also tasted very creamy. The mussels were also very good, the sauce was addictive so I had to order extra bread to dip. The scallop main dish was alright, in my opinion too much mash on top of the scallop and the scallop was chopped up. I would prefer the scallop to be grilled in whole on its own paired with mash on the side. The steak was good, quite juicy.

We were greeted by a welcoming & friendly member of staff and we couldn't help but notice how wonderful their seafood display was and also, the atmosphere. Throughout lunch, our attentive waiter (Thiago) also made sure everything was OK. Every plate that came out of their kitchen was presented well. I ordered the scallops and the sea bass fillet in Thai style curry sauce. The scallops had a lovely texture though it could have used a bit more seasoning and could have been seared a bit more (there are some representative images posted by others here). Nevertheless, the scallops were still delicious, but not as delicious as it could potentially be! The sea bass was superb. It was perfectly seasoned and the skin had a lovely, crispy texture. The flavours of the Thai style curry sauce had a rich, spiced, coconut flavour that went well with the umami of the fish. Splendid meal! Overall, we're really happy with our experience at SOLE food and would definitely visit again!

We love seafood and wanted to find the the best place in Dublin. Sole was recommended by friends who had visited the city earlier this year. We are grateful for that recommendation since it was a perfect seafood dinner. Scallops, oysters, sea bass were all perfectly prepared. Good wine selection of wines and our white was chilled to the ideal temperature. Service was great. We had an advance reservation which turned out to be the way to get in into this very popular restaurant. One of the few places I can highly recommend without any reservations.

We sat at the bar - highly recommend that but not for a 6 course tasting menu, then I became a bit long. Staff was super friendly, engaged a lot in the wine choice which was appreciated. Inconsistencies in terms of presenting the food - we chose the tasting menu but some waiters neglected to present what it was we were served (without the menu at hand we had no way of knowing everything but what we could visually tell). Food was really nice. Good, honest food with amazing produce. The only remark here was that they served the food too hot to eat so we had to wait a weirdly long amount of time before eating sometimes (champagne problem though). We were super happy with all of the courses apart from the dessert, where everything was really yummy and flavorful, but the meringue was not well baked - the bottom of it was like chewing gum. Will 100% come back with a larger group for the shellfish trays they had!

Nice food. I got the sea bass and lemon meringue tart. Both were tasty. Staff were very well dressed and polite. We were asked if we wanted still/sparkling water. We said tap but were charged for bottled, however once we pointed it out they apologised and corrected the bill. We went for the early bird menu which was €35 for 2 courses/€40 for 3 courses.

SOLE felt like a great restaurant for intimate occasions, like a date, anniversary or small group of friends, though I did some larger groups accommodated (probably up to a dozen). The interior is lovely and the counter seating doesn't look too shabby compared to other eateries (usually gastro pubs) that have those as an option. This place is expensive however, but their staff are very friendly and professional. They do offer complimentary bread at the beginning of your meal which is delicious (I was surprised the brown was tastier than the white) and because our booking mentioned our anniversary we got an extra dessert bite which was classy from the restaurant. My catch of the day was John Dory with mash, it was delicious.

The best restaurant I've eaten in Dublin for the whole 6 months I've been there. I obviously recommend taking only seafood dishes. They are all very fresh and tasty. You can definitely feel the quality but you obviously pay for the price. The service is very good. Chic and fancy place to eat and have a discussion with one or several friends.

Second time coming to Sole - just as good as the first time! Bruno our server was excellent, he couldn’t have done more to ensure our experience was pleasant. The food was perfect, there wasn’t anything I would change at all - we ordered the 3 course for €60; which was a bargain for the quality of the food. It was my partners birthday, so the team facilitated my request at bringing in my own cake to present at the end - there was no fuss and they even added some fruit and writing to make it look beautiful - this is going the extra mile for an excellent experience. Thanks a mil to the team at Sole, there’s a reason you’re one of Dublins best restaurants!

We were in Dublin for one night to round out our Ireland vacation. Chose to make a reservation at Sole, it did not disappoint! We sat at the bar, which was a really cool experience as you saw much more of what was going on within the restaurant and watched staff make various cocktails. The setting was beautiful, the food was absolutely delicious and the staff were wonderful! Highly recommend the Dingle Crab Claws.

Good Food and portions. Sea Bass was really nice The Chowder was OK, missing a bit of flavour. Mussels were OK. I wouldn't order them again. Dessert was really good!

Great ambience, food was tasty. However, it did not meet my expectations with regard to the price. I ordered Sea Bass fillet, Scallops as main course which was good. For desserts, I had brownie and deconstructed pavlova - loved it. For cocktails, I had a mango drink, which was excellent. I was not served starters as I arrived a few minutes late for my reservation. Service was good and friendly staff.

Incredible restaurant. Top 3 since I've been in Dublin. Oysters were fresh and delicious. Scallops were incredible. Steak was tender and cooked to perfection. Some wine during the meal and topped the meal off with some Jameson on the rocks. No complaints, from food to service.

Food was beautifully plated and cocktails and wine selections were superb. For a expensive fine dining restaurant, you should always have the choice of taking your food back to your home regardless of it was fish or any other course on the menu. That is the customers choice to make. The customer should always be pleased and I was very disappointed that I couldn’t take home a vegan gnocchi (no fish) back to my place of dwelling. If you are paying for some of the finest food in Dublin, you should have the option to enjoy the leftovers at home. Besides that, everything was beautiful. Just get some take out boxes.

We had an incredible meal at this beautiful restaurant for our first night in Dublin. We were originally seated next to an unusually loud table, where even the waitress couldn’t hear, and she quickly had us moved to a delightful table up front. Everything was wonderful, especially the oyster selections with a wonderful glass of champagne. The Dingle Crab claws were over the top amazing. I thoroughly enjoyed the Coquille St Jacque, with perfectly flavored scallops under a cover of mash. Highly recommend!

Fabulous meal and great service. We had 2 of each oysters and a prawn cocktail to share as a starter. My husband had the sole and I had the fish pie both of which were lovely. We will be back!

Wonderful experience, lovely seafood, beautiful ambience and friendly and welcoming staff. Delicious food. We ordered the lobster platter for appetiser and catch of the day and scallops for main course. Perfectly made with perfect seasoning. Would highly recommend but make sure to book in advance.

Came in here for the first time . This place has amazing seafood items. The lobster has been far by best I have ever tried with its garlic butter flavours. The waiter Jesus was very friendly and it’s perfect for any seafood lover in Dublin to come by and try this place. Authentic and amazing interiors !! #seafood #jesus

Absolutely outstanding food. Great service. I associate restaurants with the cleanliness of their toilets, weird I know. The toilets here were spotless. If a restaurant has a filthy toilet I have to wonder where else they are failing in.

Very nice experience - the staff were very attentive and the food was delicious. The portions were also very generous. We had the three course meal for 55 euros which I thought was a great value for money. They also knew it was our anniversary so provided us with complimentary glass of bubbly and a congratulatory dessert.

What a great restaurant. The attention to detail was magnificent. Our waiter, one of many, Ante, could not have been more helpful. Would definitely recommend and will return

The place looks great and is spacious. Dishes well presented and look elaborate. However we got personally disappointed in the price-quality/quantity ratio. Prices are on the high side, quantities are not that generous but we got mostly disappointed with the slightly fishy smell & taste of our fishes (monkfish and sea bass) which did not reflect positively on the freshness of the fishes... Which we were told came from Ireland (so in theory it should be good). On the positive side, although there were just a few, the oysters were really fresh and tasty. I was never a fan of those before but I got to like them now 🙂
