Absolutely beautiful pub inside. Staff were lovely, Guinness was fresh and I ate the best fish and chips I've ever had so far, there. Would highly recommend to anyone that visits Dublin.

I cannot recommend this pub enough. It is so chill and truly captures how Irish pubs are. When I entered, I was told to grab any available table which I did and I received immediate service. I had the seafood chowder and it was AMAZING. The highlight for me though was the Guinness black bread. It was my first time having it and I fell in love. It's easily the best bread I've had in my life. The service was great and the prices were reasonable as well. I definitely recommend!

No social distancing what so ever..manageress in her late 50s early 60s extremely rude and aggressive tone. Would not recommend this place so disappointing..you've been warned..Steer clear!!

A very dissapointing and humiliating experiences provided by one of the bouncers As a group we arrived at the entrance with no one there to sit us down, we were than hushed back very quickly behind a yellow line which was was not very clear to see at night time by a very aggressive bouncer We then waited outside to be sat down by the bouncer, once sat down, the bouncer condescendingly berated one of our group members for about 2-3 minutes calling him cheeky, getting uncomfortably close to him to make his point, simply because we missed the yellow line on the floor, before finally doing his job and asking for contact details A very poor experience provided by the bouncer, I'm not sure what the rest of the experience was like as we decided to leave after our friend was scolded by the bouncer

Historic Victorian pub that is worth a stop in for the atmosphere alone. They have an ornate decor an offer a great Guinness pour.

I can’t say enough good things about this pub! I visited last year while in Dublin and it’s everything you could hope for in a traditional pub and more. The atmosphere was cozy and fun and the staff were very kind and helpful. I wanted to take a t-shirt home as a souvenir to remind me of my time in Ireland and they went out of their way, even at a busy time, to find the right size for me! Fast forward to this month when my t-shirt was accidentally ruined 🥲 on a whim I contacted the pub through email because of the good memories tied to the t-shirt. Not only did they respond promptly, but they were incredibly nice and willing to go out of their way to meet my inquiry about sending them the funds to ship a new shirt to me! It may seem like a small thing to some, but this really meant the world to me as Ireland had always been my top travel destination and I love having a tangible memory like the shirt. Mariana is who responded to my email and worked with me throughout the shipping process to make sure everything was just right- the shirts arrived in less than a week! She was SO sweet, professional, and trustworthy and definitely deserves a raise! • If you made it this far in reading my novel of a review…just know The Stag’s Head is clearly a “must visit” when in Dublin! I can’t wait to go back 💚

Fantastic pub really love coming here the staff are super friendly and the place is always buzzing. The food is to die for and not that expensive. There is a lot of history in this place and the staff have no problems telling you it. It's become one of our favourite places to drop into for a fabulous pint of Guinness and a bit of good food.

The pub is fantastic, is an amazing atmosphere but the owner need to be care about his security staff, the bouncer was really rude and agressive with us, I see in the reviews that I'm not the only person to complain about his behaviour, Living room is famous place in Dublin don't let people like that ruin the business otherwise people will remember the pub about the ash*le bouncer that it have.

I could have easily tired this 4 star, The whole vibe is great. Central location, BUT the staff need a lot of customer service training, from the bouncers at the door to the waiting stuff. Their attitudes are rotten!! I have observed this over a long period of time and at some point I even called Management. You can not run such a business and not have people at heart.

Ambiance is wonderful with old Victorian charm. Mahogany bar, original fixtures and flooring. A great bar with history. Service seems to be primarily at the bar even when seated at a table. Simply go to the bar and order and you will get served. Staff was attentive once you got their attention. Ambiance more than makes up for this. Fish and chips, sweet potato fries, hot ham and cheese … all well cooked and delicious! The ‘chips’ were possibly twice cooked and fantastic! Worth the stop.

Popped in for dinner after a day visiting Dublin Castle prior to heading to our B&B for the evening. Restaurant was not open so we ate downstairs in the stag. Hubby had the fish and chips.. said it tasted delicious. I had the ham and cheese toasties with chips.. it was delicious.. just what I needed after our chilly walk. Would recommend.

One of my favorite pubs in the city. I had Guinness stew and a pint of Guinness 😅 Everything tasted great and staff was very professional, friendly and attentive. I went there for a late lunch and it wasn't very crowded. The vibe is great! I'd definitely go back there.

One of Dublin's great pubs. The place has similar food to many others - the burgers are really good and the pork and cabbage is great. The Guinness flows easily and the barkeep is always friendly. What makes the Stag's Head stand out is the vibe that you get sitting there in an atmosphere that could be authentically a hundred and fifty years old. Great feeling. Give it a try.

One of the most famous pub in Dublin, it's a excellent choice if you are looking for a nice atmosphere to watch sports, especially outside where you can find a big screen to watch you team while having a beer and some snacks. It's one of my favorites spots in Dublin in the summer time.

Pub itself is nice, but the two Mongolian owners are not at all. Particularly the woman is so rude and mistreating customers. Maybe at her home country she's habit in this way but I would suggest adapting herself to Irish welcoming mood, or she will find herself drinking her cocktails alone in few months now. Pity for the shisha place (Party Shisha) which is just inside here and their waiters are very qualified and welcoming people. This management is ruining the name of the place as far as I have understood, and I am not surprised at all.

I liked the Red/Irish Ale and Irish Leger drinks + The sweet potatoes and normal potatoes were great + It was crowded and we went downstairs first - which only serves drinks without tapas - then when upstairs had empty sits, the staff helped us to find a sit there + A little expensive but, the quality worth it

Lovely pub, we visited it twice. The first time, we had lunch and the beef and Guinness stew was super lovely and filling, really good for 15 euros. We came back on Saturday night for Guinness and even though the street was super packed and bar is small, we found some place to sit down and wasn't really loud so we could have a chat

Amazing history in this pub, with intricate woodwork, and beautiful stained glass. Service was friendly and more prompt than what I expect for a busy pub in Dublin. Bathrooms are downstairs can be difficult to access if you have difficulty navigating steep stairs.

The seafood chowder was just delicious. Generous servings of seafood, potatoes, carrot and overall well constructed. Helpful and friendly staff. Went for a 1 pm lunch on a Saturday and despite the crowds outside was able to find a seat at the bar. Delicious dark bread was served with the chowder and was perfect.

Came for diner and Guinness. Both were excellent. Very busy pub but the food and service was superb. I had the seafood chowder and my wife and granddaughter the beef and Guinness stew. Nothing like a warm Irish pub, a pull of Guinness and a hearty meal.

This is one pig Dublin's great pubs. There is always a good crowd here but I always mange to get a seat as the crowds seem to come and go in waves. The decor is traditional and includes a stag's head. There are a good range of beers and wines. Staff are friendly and they have music and comedy on different nights. Centrally located.

(Translated by Google) A beautiful pub that, like pretty much every other in Temple Bar, is extremely crowded. You should be there by 5 p.m. at the latest to eat, otherwise it will be overflowing. And if you are not lucky enough to get a seat with your back to the wall, you will regularly get elbows, pockets, etc. in your back. Nevertheless it is worth a visit, the staff is very friendly, surprisingly attentive and quick, even when it is very busy, and the food is very, very good.

Was placed at a table right infront of another table were the plastic panel wasn't high enough for social distancing and no privacy what so ever from a young crowd. My partner didn’t witness staff wash thwir hands once even after one touched the bins infront of us. Had my drinks lifted twice before they were finished by two over eager waiters & when giving us our spoons they were holding them by the oval bit you eat with. Would be an okay place if staff had a covid 19 training day like most other places.

Decent enough pub with good COVID screening at the door. However, there is absolutely no spacing or protective measure re. COVID taken once inside. I'm not sure this is an issue so much with he bar itself as how bars in Dublin operate.

Nice pub just behind the temple bar area. Beef stew with mash and Guinness bread was lovely and rich - a bit less mash and a bit more stew would make it perfect. Drinks are ok for the area. Had a lovely pot of tea. Lemonade bottles are 125ml which is barely two mouthfuls for me -but that's common for places around here. Music and comedy on in the evenings If you want to pay a certain currency on your credit or debit card make sure to specify beforehand as some staff automatically choose euros (which was fine for me).

  • 5/5 Tom M. 1 year ago on Google
Perfect. Mind you, you won’t discover any new flavors here, but orange to orange, this place is 5 out of 5. The ambiance alone is worth hanging here, but there’s very good seafood chowder and absolutely divine Guinness beef stew to accompany expertly poured Guinness and brown bread. That’s right, the accompaniments can triumph. You’d justifiably lie to your mother that you can’t make it to have lunch here. Review based on a February 2023 visit.

Had a lovely visit here. Good atmosphere and very friendly welcome ming staff. Despite how busy it was we were served quickly. Certainly recommend! Word of advice the fish and chips were slightly bland, try the bacon and cabbage! Not a 5 because there was a strong smell of urine in the main bar.

Wow, what a pub! Pints are great there. Food is amazing with plenty of flavour and decent portion size. The atmosphere is vibrant throughout the whole day with a mix of ages coming and going and the decoration is awesome. One of the most beautiful old school looking places. They also do comedy night Sunday, Monday and Tuesday which are incredibly funny and it's free entry! If you are into hoping around pubs in Dublin The Stags Head is a must!
