It’s 3 years I’ve been working out at this place and for the last year the conditions have gone really bad. When complaining yesterday with the manager, she apologized and said she couldn’t do much. I asked for a refund or partially of my money back and she said that it is not possible. There are promises of renovations, but nothing concrete or that we can trust. The toilets were supposed to be in renovations for 2 or 3 weeks and are ‘under maintenance’ for the last 6 months at least. Unfortunately you pay for a service, but do not get it. Machines have been broken for the last 6 months and nothing is done. The worst of all is the attitude of ‘it is what it is and there’s nothing that could be done at the moment’ which means you are throwing your money away. If you are to enroll in this place you do not need to pay the enrollment fee. Say it’s too expensive and you are going to look for another gym, they will lower it as much as €50. I paid the full fee which was 600€ at that time and a friend who I referred paid only 50€. The unfair treatment starts at the enrollment. I am posting pictures of the broken machines today, 20/01/2023. The treadmill is in that situation since August/22. Others from at least September and absolutely nothing has been done.

Gym used to be very nice and pro membership, but now it's all about predictory sales without any regard for existing membership. The gym has become a huge scam to get as much money from unsuspecting people as possible. Very dirty spa facilities , sauna & steam rooms are never cleaned. Complaints are not taken seriously. Gym name is now Westwood Club. Do your proper research before thinking about signing up!! Newly renovated Sauna has never been cleaned since reopening. Cancelled my membership after Covid_19 arrived, I couldn't risk infection from the pandemic pandemic.

I had my stuff stolen (work computer...) from a locker, when I explained the situation to the receptionist she almost made me feel guilty. I filled out a form and sent an email, I never got a response or even an apology email for the inconvenience. No possibility to access the camera... nothing. I didn't want to publish a review but this added to the number of machines constantly out of order and the Gym closed some days without even warning the members who make the trip for nothing. I find that the service is not worth the price. It's very nice on the surface with the sauna... but as for the quality of the customer service and the maintenance of the machines it's really deplorable.

The worst customer service ever I have experienced in last 10 years being in Dublin. You guys need to educate your staff member how the customers are treated and be bit flexible. The customers are not paying for horrible service. And I am going to address about your bad customer service to each and every friends and family member who use your gym and ask to terminate their membership. There are loads of other gyms to provide better service than Westwood in town.

I made an appointment to know the club and their facilities. When I get there everything went well in the beginning. The guy showed me the facilities and explained about classes. Then when we get to his office to know about prices the guy completely changed. He made me very uncomfortable Pushing me to subscribe on the academy saying that he could do a best price for me on the fee. I repeated many times that I was there to know first And I needed time to think and to talk with my husband before pay for anything. He was forcing me to call my husband to decided at that time and I told him many times that I was VERY uncomfortable with that situation and he kept forcing me to make a decision. I’m very appalled! I’ll never come back there and I won’t recommend to anyone. Horrible experience. I left the club almost crying.

The worst service I've ever experienced. I had a meeting on Thursday and set up a free trial for Saturday and meeting with the manager Brian. Apparently the manager was unable to make it and I was only informed of it upon arriving. The receptionist was extremely rude and said there's nothing she can do but reschedule. No apology or anything. I expected human decency. Note to the owners: if you're charging those prices, you better have friendly and helpful staff. Not joining.

the gym has been under construction since February, the men are using the women's locker room, and the women the men's. there are no urinals, and there are only two toilets. just like the carpet on the bathroom floor that we men use is flooded almost every day. there is no space to store the backpacks securely. the ceiling of the room that contains the pool is peeling, leaving the water dirty and cloudy, which by the way is not very clean. subject but stairs last for days, puddles of water with strong smell accumulate on the side of the pool. not to mention the flooding on the second floor today, a piece of the ceiling nearly fell under students and staff. and about a month ago, they announced an increase of almost twenty euros in the monthly fee of this gym, which was scrapped, full of broken equipment, inefficient management staff and poor cleaning. I want my money back this month, I demand.

Literally the rudest receptionist I’ve ever encountered! The way she spoke to me was actually shocking and so unfriendly! Do not go to this location! I pay good money to be apart of this gym so I expect at least friendly staff members!

Been a member here for a few months, the location in temple bar. The gym itself is alright, quite old equipment for paying €89. The bathrooms and showers are absolutely disgusting, the showers smell like they haven’t been cleaned in years. Accidentally touched the shower wall the other day and it was slimy, like touching a frog. The pool is nasty and the pool ceiling is peeling off. The whole basement is infected with mold which doesn’t make the situation better. The sauna is big and warm, however the floor has not been cleaned in years (don’t shine a light on it), and it smells really bad. It’s insane that a gym with this price does not seem to have cleaning schedules, maintenance or at least a spray for the smell. I am probably cancelling my membership next month.

Honestly it is disappointing to pay 90€ a month and receive such service , first the gents toilet is super smelly , water taps are broken and that still didn’t matter much to me , however the worst part is that they are super slow when it comes to repairing damaged equipment, for such a small gym they have 4 important machines under maintenance (and that’s not including the cardio machines)for months now ,which makes you have limited options and wait for others to finish , honestly Westwood you need to resolve this , I’m changing the gym soon…

This is one of most expensive gym in Ireland but there is nothing working properly. Also so dirty changing rooms. They don’t even care for anything. It is not hard to fix one machine in 6 months. I am gonna share my experiences about this gym on my social media

Can't fault the gym or pool. Good classes too and very clean . But the sales tactics employed by the staff offering memberships is cruel and shady. I was caught !!! (Don't fall for the 4 day pass either.. they'll pressure you into joining even before you see the facilities .. ). . Don't pay a 'joining' fee what ever you do . Just commission going straight into the sales dudes' pocket. Cruel bullies ! Total cowboy sales men ruining what could be a pleasant membership . I feel compelled to go elsewhere which is a shame.

So, I read the reviews and went in all ready for the rude receptionist (I was v intrigued to be honest, like, how rude can they be??) and the extra pushy sales guy who would wrestle me to the ground before I could refuse to join. Alas, this was not my experience. It was actually great. Maybe I caught everyone on a good day. The gym looks great- no nuclear lighting and God-awful mirrors. Everyone was super friendly. Maybe the proof of the pudding is in the leaving- but that was all explained to me and seems pretty straightforward. I'm not the biggest gym fan, but I'm vaguely excited to start going. That's a start, right?

FALSE ADVERTISING. They stated that you get 4 day free trial in the gym, after waiting at the reception for 30 minutes I had received a tour of the place and was instantly offered to sign up with a joining fee of 599. After I mentioned the free 4 day trial I was told that you will get 4 days free once you have joined after paying the 599 registartiom fee and that the 4 days will be deducted from your monthly payment. Why the frick would i want 4 days free after i paid 600 quid for registration fee ???

BEWARE OF WEST WOOD SALES AGENT TRYING TO RIP YOU OFF AND PRESSURE YOU INTO SIGNING A CONTRACT ON THE SPOT!!! This is a place with terrible business practices. You arrive to simply view the facilities, and then the sales agent puts pressure on you for 45 mins on the spot. The tactic always appears to be the same: a “special reduction in the sign-up fee, just for yourself”. The sign-up fee is usually something like 600€, but once the agent senses you’re not going to pay that makes it drop to 25€ or so, but “only if you sign up right now”. They also offer dodgy invoice options. When I told them I was not going to sign a contract on the spot, they asked: “But where do you want go instead, we’re the best club in town?” Personally I can highly recommend Sportsco: facilities are great (comparable to Westwood), ethical business, friendly staff and generally down-to-earth people.

VERY AGRESSIVE MARKETING. Wanted to try 4 days free pass but Manager called David( dark skinned guy) was very agressively pushing us to sign up for membership already. Didnt allow to try as advertised....we spent about 30 minutes discussing back and forward same thing again and again....in the end he asked to gove IBAN which i didnt want to give without trying facilities... David told us that 4 day membership is for people who are really interested...well I was interested but not till I met David and his very agressive way of selling facilities.David is student studying business..well it seems very pushy way of obtaining new customers. Indeed, West wood management, you could have done this experience much more pleasant...facilities are nice and i would be more happy to sign if i would have tried at least....i would not consider West wood from today...good luck with such line of doing business . I see there a lot of reviews like mine complaining about the same...bad experience indeed...unique for ireland

Sad to see a once top class gym so rundown. Perpetually broken equipment, out of order changing rooms for years, cancellation of classes (e.g. no sign of the Trip live or virtual in months), mouldy showers, sewer smell throughout. All of the above mentioned numerous times to staff but nothing done. Seems like they’ve just stopped maintaining it. A pity.

I applied for free trial to see how things are at Ashton Quay facility. Received an email from one of their manager in 30 minutes saying I will get a call back within a day, but no response. Instead I tried to call the reception but no response either. After reading the facilities the gym is offering including swimming pool, I was thrilled but with this start I don't have much hopes. If you cannot manage to fulfill the free trial concept at your facilities then why are you offering this service at the first place?

I absolutely love the Westwood club concept , but the service in this specific location is extremely poor. Really rude staff to say the least. The cleanliness is also questionable, I rarely saw the toilets cleaned, for example . Unfortunately this is a great location in the city centre , and that’s the only reason I attend this location for commuting reasons. But when I have the chance I rather go to Leopardstown or Clontarf , where staff are really nice and the place well cared . If you have the chance, don’t attend this place, the only good thing in Westwood Aston Quay is its location. Such a pity, I hope you guys can improve it soon!

DISAPPOINTED- They offer you 4 days for free.. they just want you to go to show you around and have a chat for 30 min if you can scape soon otherwise it would be 1hr chat they want you to pay a membership RIGHT NOW! kind of forcing you to join, so they don't give you any day to at least try a class. Gym looks good used to be Crunch Fitness in Dublin.

The changing rooms and sauna are smelly and for YEARS this issue is not fixed, and it is frequently floaded. There is no flexibility if you go on holidays, they either charge you a full month or you pay 10 euro to hold your membership for a month. But that will be always from day 1 to 30. That is it. Ridiculous at least. It is rare to find staff on the gym floor. Classes are ok and equipments ok, but it could have more maintenance for safety. Staff is normally friendly unless you need something from reception.

The sauna and swimming poll needs serious repairs and cleaning schedules! The ceiling of the swimming pool is peeling off, the water seems very dirty, even if is black you can see! Also sauna floor was so dirty!!! I wouldn’t recommend this gym, it’s so crowded in the end of the day, I had to wait for use equipments! And some equipments are not even working! In the ladies change room there are about 3 hairdryers only. I thought Westwood gyms were following a standard, but I am really disappointed with this one.

I was considering switching to this gym from my old one and found 4 day trial advertised on their website. A great opportunity to check out the facilities before making up my mind. I’ve registered and received initial email from Niamh , requested my trial dates but no response. Called the sales / no response , called reception and the guy said the sales team is at some training and will get back to me early next week. Took my details and still nothing.

Good location with a warm salt water pool which is great. But don't pay a big joining fee! I've heard of people (including a young student) believing they had to pay 500 euro to join - they've been robbed. Tell them you know a member and that they didn't pay a fee. I think I ended up paying 50 quid to join, I felt that was reasonable. It's just commission for the sales guy.

Absolute waste of time + bad attitude... Went into the gym twice just for a tour and potentially to sign up. First time the member team wasn't there- they asked me to wait for a good 10/15mins then said oh they’re not coming. Not a bother, I'd come back. Second time I popped in on my lunch break and the receptionist said she had called someone to come down. 15mins later, nothing?! I asked if she/he were en route and was told "I dont know, they're probably busy". Right... Thanks for wasting my time

Classy swimming pool, Sauna, steam room, abundance of weights and variety of machines. Just avoid peak Hours as you would with any gym for the best experience. The best times are 6am-4pm and 7pm-11pm on weekdays.

***AVOID THIS GYM*** They don't have qualified instructors for les mills classes. They either are only qualified in body pump or attack. Fernanda rushes classes and doesn't care even though she is the class coordinator, not enough classes because they don't have qualified staff. High turn over of staff!!! Any good pt they did have leave, not surprisingly. They pay Pts €10.50 per hour and 3 to 5 euro per class and if you assist in the class you're not paid, only the instructor that is scheduled to do the class is. They would take anyone on with basic pt course. Badly run and not worth the money. Full of rubbish to get you to sign up....go to a gym with proper management and qualified instructor's. At a lower monthly fee.

It actually hurts me to write such a scathing review about a gym that I frequent. I guess constructive criticism is what is needed. I'll start by saying that the staff are great. The rest of the place needs improvement. A few weeks ago I wanted to go for a swim but I didn't have a swimming cap, so I asked to buy one. They had none, so I didn't swim. For the past month I've seen, sometimes, up to 5 people swimming in the pool without swimming caps. People treat the pool area like spring break. No rules. The staff have only once said something about it, that I've witnessed. It might be the cause of the constantly clogged drains, toilets, and showers.

A half of swimmers were not wearing swimming cap but, staff told us this is a must, so we bought the cap there + Small pool + Steam Room was just a heater in a room; Remember there is no steam and no eucalyptus. It's a dry sauna + Expensive for one-day walk(€25) in and you cannot choose only pool or gym as they are in the same building so it is not possible to control who can use which one + Nice staff + Armchairs are few and people reserve it by putting a towel on it while they're swimming for a long time! + No lock on the closets; you need to bring your own lock + The water wasn't clean + It was okay for one-time experience

I'm changing my review to a two-star as they are improving the equipment on the main floor. The construction seems to be complete, but the cleanliness of the place is still questionable. There are no rules enforced in the pool / sauna / steam room areas and the cleanliness in the men's dressing rooms could be much better. Staff are good, but not much basic courtesy of welcoming guests like in other clubs. All and all it's improving slightly but could be much better for the cost.

Poor business practices. For half a year, they were renovating and members had to "be patient" while they were improving the gym. After half a year of not having access to a big part of the gym, they have close to doubled the price (it's more than 800 euros for a year now).

The gym is of mediocre quality and clearly overpriced. Tried to use the gym a week ago and was told I can get in for 50 euros as a day pass. Showed up a week later and was told it’s not possible because you need a member with you and then pay 50 to get in. Was very happy to instead use one of the flyfit gyms within a 4 min walk—was only 14 euros and similar equipment. Definitely happy not to ever go back to Westwood after this experience. Good for flyfit, bad for Westwood…

I've joined the gym in february and there were signs asking the members to bear with some changes for a while. We are almost in September and the work is still not done. Never sign a year contract with them. Worst decision I could take. Now I'm working in a new job, far from the gym but still paying almost €80 every month even without attending.

It's quite fancy, but small. Not many lockers in the changing room so you'll be carrying everything when you working out at a busy time. Pool is tiny but fine. Sauna, love it. Steam room, it's alright. Need an ice room like in Westmanstown. But yeah, it's a decent enough gym.

Good gym but really needs to be refurbished. The facilities are good but the pool area is very run down, always smells a bit like mold. The sign up process seems a bit strange - it was originally a £600 joining fee which was reduced to less than 100 when my partner mentioned that he hadn’t had to pay it. Seems a little strange. Obviously 89 euros a month isn’t 89 a month if you had to pay 600 to join. The gym itself is great with a dark vibe which can be nice. There’s never a really crowded feeling here. I also visited the Sandymount location (you can use all their gyms at this rate) and it was much nicer with an amazing pool and spa area. Just wish it was a bit closer to me!

I hate writing negative especially when the staff are so friendly and amazing BUT it would be a compliment to call the facilities here basic. Your problems should not be forced/passed on to your customers at our expense for €80 a month. Lockers lock but don't open. I understand for security signing documents but speed it up. Most people in the morning are in a hurry don't leave waiting 15 mins to open it. Luckily this time I was fully dressed when I was forced to go to reception. No shower gel, no shower doors. Training in a building site for I can't even remember how long with continued false promises and pityful responses. And management hiding. Sort it out asap!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The only reason I'm still using this gym is convenience from home to work. I would suggest all your team visit the gym as customers rather than staff and really look at the detail, a public gym is in better condition than this.

this was an absolute gem of a gym a few years back, its gone really bad, the place needs to be completely refurbished. its it a prime location and its wonderful to have access to a pool, sauna, steam room in the city but the place is ragged. To pictures of the pool do not show it as it is today!!! I'd pay a few Euro more on my membership if they restore it to its original glory for those of us who work in the city again. giving 2 stars for location in the hope its refurbished.

The gym is fine. But most people that go there do not have common sense, mostly seasonal trainers. If you go to changing rooms guys take a shower and do not dry up theirself before going to the locker area (I wonder if they do that in their home), I normally get wet every time I go there to change my clothes. I am looking for another gym in the area.

Looks like a renewed place, with 20 mt swimming pool and areas to work cardio, aerobics, stretching, functional training and weight lifting it's a decent option in the city center. Most busy hours are between 8 and 10 am or after 6 pm.

In my membership all was okay then on until my circumstances changed. I moved 8 months later and had to pay higher rent. I went up to cancel and the guy was fine it seemed pretty easy. The guy said he took care of it and that I will no longer pay for membership its all taken care of. Great. Im going to pay my rent. I dont have enough money after budgeting my expenses in. I check my account. Westwood was still taking money. I called them saying "its a mistake I cancelled last month, this is my rent money" The guy says I didnt cancel, I can only cancel after 1 year of membership goes by. Dont go there especially students. Plenty of other great gyms that are more fair and give a good experience. :)

Rush hour the place is rammed. Machines are average at best. Squat racks are in very low supply with a miss match of plates causing greater frustration. Very few DBs. Facilities are nice however rarely clean. Changing rooms are also cramped. Little to no plate loaded machines. They're all flimsy cables with varying points of tension making it difficult to go heavy. A good gym for cardio and Sauna but if you are in any way serious about weightlifting I'd try another gym.

Aston Quay is just grand. The showers are very shabby and only stay on for 5 seconds before you have to push them on again. No complaints about the gym equipment, it's top notch

Could do with more benches and more free weights. Leisure part closed for maintenance but low and beyond sauna back bench wood panel still falls off in the middle section top sitting area and lower. No idea what they fixed, or were the millions spent. As doesn't have much in wieght machine assisted stuff actually have removed some form before covid with no alternative. They have 1 preacher bench that is always in use.

When u're out there to get the membership they'll do a great job and all, but once you need to freeze the payment because you been out the country for a while they won't do much about it. Called them twice and still hasn't got an answer.

Very Good Gym , well equipped with modern high tech gym facilities. Excellent swimming pool. Plenty classes to attend , which are free when you are member, most gyms charge for the classes . Gym instructors are excellent as well .

I signed up for it just over a month ago as the gym I used to work out is still closed. I redeemed the 4 day trial voucher and indeed it was a 1 day voucher with a sales pitch before you have to time to work out. I knew that was going to happen from reading the reviews. The seller was not as pushy as some of the horror stories I read here. I was given an option, I refused it, i was given a 2nd and much more reasonable option and it suited my budget. The gym decor is a bit weird. It looks a bit like a nightclub with mirrors and pendant chandeliers but nothing too crazy. Facilities are ok and fully working. All equipment is in working condition and they've got some decent low impact cardio machines. Covid restrictions are being observed and members are asked to sanitise the equipment they've used at all times. Only reason I'm not giving it 5 star rating is because it can get very busy. Receptionists and trainers are all helpful as well, never had an issue with any of them. It's worth paying a bit extra to get what's called a global membership which will grant access to all other Westwood gyms in Dublin.

The most overpriced gym in dublin. Bad facilities too, they charge 70euro a month and only have 4 squat racks....Joke

I was working out in this gym for six months but unfortunately today me and my guest were very badly treated. I cancelled my membership and he gave up to join this place. Don’t recommend!

Westwood has everything you need, be it a swimming pool, weights, cardio machines, kids activities you name it. Actually i just recommended westwood aston quay to a friend over the weekend.

Modern, good equipped GYM with a variety of machines and free weights. Suitable arranged area with cardio zone, gymnastics/yoga separate space. Pool relaxing area with solarium is a nice addition to the main workout area. Comfortable atmosphere and perfect microclimate. All zones are clean and tidy. Pleasant, kind and welcoming personal. GYM location right in the middle of the City, all transport routes are in the nearest distance. Great place West Wood Club - highly recommend !

One of the top gyms in Ireland, I'm so happy for being a member in west wood, My personal trainer (Jose) is one the best trainers I've worked with. Adam as well is really helpful, friendly and ready to help and answer questions any time even if I approach him while he is doing his workout.

Before joining I’d never done a gym class before in my life and this gym completely transformed that for me. The classes are amazing and the entire staff are so friendly and helpful. Really appreciate the efforts they’ve put in ensuring the gym stays open and safe.

Charged my wife €130+ for joining 1 week before the lockdown and threw out her equipment from her locker without consulting her. She wasted about €200 total for nothing. They will take your money and provide nothing in return if they don't want to

Good gym, bad customer service. Sales doesn't care about anything but signing you in, and usually you don't read that long document then you start struggling if you even think about cancelling

  • 2/5 Random T. 2 years ago on Google
Gym is okay, pool area is good but but but "YOUR MANNERLESS STAFF and by that I mean The TRAINER WHO WAS WORKING FEBRUARY 8, IN CLOSING SHIFT needs to learn how to say please to their customers and not give them order and be rude. Pathetic representation of such club !!!!!

Friendly staff, decent in terms of equipment; but it was sooo warm inside. Just sitting around would cause a good swear. Also; bring a padlock if you want to use a locker.
