Excelent little traditional Irish pub serving some delicious food and a nice array of cocktails. Their Guinness game is pretty good too. No much phone coverage inside but sure that makes it a nicer environment 😉

The ambience of this place is really great. We landed there on a Sunday afternoon while strolling on Milltown Road. We had no prior booking but luckily got a place. The place is packed on Sunday afternoons. The food was great & the service was great too. Their staffers are pleasant and attentive and are happy to explain their menu when asked for. I explained that it was my first time at an Irish restaurant and I’m new to Ireland and the lady politely explained the menu which left me delighted.

The food was delicious, we arrived on a Sunday evening with no reservation and we got a table. If you want to seat around the window, with an stunning view (which is really worthy) you need to reserve in advance. The service was spotless, really good staff. Worth the visit!

I always wished to go to this restaurant , but never got a chance earlier.. but this time I made sure before Christmas I would try this place considering the history it carries for years since 1847 .. The beauty of this place is the canal side , antique looks inside out and the traditional Irish food served .. one of the best brunches I had . Delicious food served with love ❣️ Staff working are too polite in nature. #Dublin #History #Restaurant #Love #Irish #Traditional

If your ever on a walk along the River Dodder. Which is very beautiful at the point. Weeping willow shaded walk with waterfalls. Your just steps away from one fantastic place. Food service and the beauty of this place will astound you.

First time at The Dropping Well, I had a positive impression. We did not book; still, the staff managed to find a table for us within minutes. Service was prompt and friendly. Good range of food items on the menu and kids' menu as well. I was surprised by the waiting time; we did not wait more than 6/7 minutes before getting our food. The kids were extremely happy not to have to wait for long. The double back & cheese beef patties burger was great; it was cooked to perfection, juicy, and tasty with a lovely cheese flavor. The fries and peppercorn sauce were good, adequately salted, and in an average portion. The kids mac and cheese were creamy and with a mild cheese taste, perfect for junior customers. The roast of the day was well presented and in a good-sized portion. Overall it was good but on average.

Went there for the Valentines dinner. Ordered chicken wings and simply loved them. The sauce was good and chicken was juicy. However, the other starter we ordered was a Seafood chowder, and wouldn’t recommend it. We always order a seafood chowder in every restaurant/cafe/pub we go, and have tasted some amazing ones, but the DW chowder failed to amaze. It lacked flavours of various seafish in the chowder. The chowder gravy was also little blank. Regardless of this, we ordered the fish and chips for the mains, and to our surprise, we tasted the BEST haddock fish!! Perfectly cooked, crispy on the outside and fresh and juicy inside. The caesar salad and the tartar sauce were great too with the fish! In the desserts, had the brownie with the vanilla icecream, brownie was delicious, but just wish it was served little warm. Wanted to give 4/5 but the lovely fish made me do it 5/5! 🥰

A warm atmosphere, fast and friendly service and our orders at lunchtime for the daily specials were great! The roast beef was amazing, the pan fried cod was thick and perfectly cooked, all vegetables were tasty and mashed potatoes were heaven. Must say the pint of Guinness was spot on. Thanks to the cooks, the food was great and tasted like you enjoyed preparing it.. Love the rhino wading up the river..;)

Warm welcome. Directed into a lovely snug. Ate heartily and watched the rugby from numerous screens. No wine list but offered a few choices. Recommend the goodness bowl, seabream, cheese board. Tasty vegan curry today, really delicious. Joints of the day were of massive proportions if you are truly hungry. Shout out to the super staff.

Always visit The Dropping Well when I am in Dublin staying with my aunt in Ranalagh. It never fails to deliver. Outstanding food ,freshly cooked, and traditional Irish fair. My aunts favourite pub and she visits a couple of times a month. Serving staff recognised her and knew her order. Only bit of advice add some more fish dishes. Due to a hereditary health condition, I am limited in what I could eat. The atmosphere was great , and the service was outstanding . I will be back.

Went to the Dropping Well following a recommendation from a family member. We was a party of 5. The service was spot on, food came out in good time not to fast or to slow. The waitresses were really attentive even though the restaurant was busy. My only concern is that my meal has what looked like a raw carrot on it but it wasn’t to much of issue. Really good visit

Great spot for breakfast; affordable and tasty options. The service is phenomenal 90% of the time I go here, but there is one young blond waitress who usually works a Sunday morning that has a nasty attitude, seems like she would much rather be elsewhere. Really ruins the rest of the experience which is always pleasant. If you come during the week the other waitresses are all extremely friendly and accommodating.

Used to come here loads a few years ago with my family but it has really gone down hill. The toilets were in a disgraceful state. I said it to the manager who said he would see to it straight away but when we went back to the toilets 40 minutes later they were still horrendous. My sister rang to book a table for 8 adults and 2 kids requesting a high chair to fit at the table but there wasn't enough space for the kids at the table when we arrived. Staff weren't overly friendly and made it feel like the kids at the table were an inconvenience. Food was extremely average and overpriced for what it was.

I go here with my Mom who is in a wheelchair. The staff are very attentive and lovely to deal with . The food is always excellent. Normally book a table with my mom in a wheelchair and never have any problems. The do half portions for my Mom which is very much appreciated.

We had lunch here recently as a big group for a special occasion. I cannot say enough good things about the Dropping Well. The staff were so friendly and helpful. Food was delicious. One of the nicest pub lunches we've all had and the staff really made the day. Thank you!

Food is really nice and staff are very friendly. Just a bit of feedback- it would be good to supply flora/ another form of vegan butter to have with the vegan breakfast. My Mam had the vegan breakfast and she loved it, but she had to have plain toast. Also if soy milk was available that would be great too. Thank you!!!!😊

Lovely spot. The staff are very professional and attentive. Food was top quality and good sized portions, very reasonably priced. It's a beautiful location with views over the river dodder. Recommended.

I was there with friends for some food but that was weekend and like almost everywhere in restaurants are only short menu options. Food was ok but I want check the different dishes when they are served from Monday to Friday 😉. The pub are really nice and have "spirit "

Pretty good place for lunch. I like to bring my family here for a weekend lunch. It's quite nice and cozy inside, with some nice views of the small river outside. Service is quick, and the menu has quite a lot of options, both for food and drinks, it really does. The roasted beef is probably the best option, and quite a generous serving. The large chowder is only large on the name though, felt more like a starter. It tasted good, but not really a top choice here in my opinion. But given the variety of the menu, I'm sure there's a good option for anyone really.

This restaurant never disappoints. High quality meal in a beautifully restored pub next to the water. Casual atmosphere and great food. Highly recommend.

Really nice service, the waitress was super friendly, but food was not up to its name. Fish & chip was not fresh, that fish must stayed in refrigerator for more than 4 days. Beef lasagna has too much sugar in it make me thinking it was made with catchup instead of real tomato. Will not eat in this place again. Give 3 instead of 1 only due to the great service, come on, find a new chef.
