Experience Paris in the middle of Dublin! Classy, cozy restaurant with superb French cuisine. You get this feeling being in France. It is lovely decorated inside but small tables outside are so nice and you could listen to French jazz on the speaker. And the food... Tasteful, delicious and delicate. The plate is a piece of art. Prices are reasonable for this level.

Very close to the Dublin Castle we had lunch at this great french restaurant. It was all very nice. We had it outside in the small terrace they have. Worth to try if you want to change a bit :-) The Salad... was magnificent.

Amazing atmosphere make you feel in Paris but in Dublin city centre. All the waitress very friendly. Perfect for a sunny evening. Highlights for the cheese board and the prawns coquetel.

The food is amazing (seriously), so reasonably priced and the wait staff were so very nice! -1 star as it was hard to get wait staffs attention at times and we never did get our water (we asked 2 different staff) Would definitely recommend!!! UPDATE: I had to come back and change my rating to 5 stars, although the service was busy (as stated above) --- my friend and I spent a week in Ireland and this was by far the best meal we had while there! We were still talking about it on the ride back to the USA.

A taste of France in Dublin! Very cute "secret" area for outdoor eating, staff were friendly and attentive. Salmon sandwiches were fresh and nice music too!

Conveniently situated outside Dublin Castle, Chez Max is a true gem. Chez Max is full of character and stays true to its French roots, without overdoing it. A lot of people here praise the atmosphere and I agree with them, it was fantastic. Very friendly and hospitable staff too, in addition to being attentive. We ordered the snails, beef bourguignon and the plat du jour which was eggs benedict & a croissant avec salmon & lovely, tender asparagus. The entire dining experience was an enjoyable one and everything was delicious. The egg was cooked well and I enjoyed the salmon paired with the flavourful croissant. The beef bourguignon was savoury and the beef was tender too. The delicious snails were wonderfully umami-packed too. À mon avis, ce restaurant est l'un des meilleurs de la ville! Vraiment excellent!

5 stars is not enough to describe this place. Small and cosy, with very friendly staff, amazing food and wide selection of wines and drinks. Definitely will go back there when visiting Dublin again. Compliments to the chef as well for an amazing beef steak😍

Great food, very authentic and so tasty. I had been craving authentic French food for a while and am so happy to have found it. The staff were great. Very good, friendly and fast service. Couldn't fault it. We will definitely be back.

We had a two course meal each and the housewine with that. The price for the 2 courses is reasonable and the portions are good. The food was delicious and the venue is very cute but quite crowded. We booked in advance at peak hours and would recommend to do so. Tho the staff made it clear after an hour that the table needs to be cleared soon, which made us feel rushed. However I would still recommend trying this restaurant as the French food and wine selection is great.

Poor service, we arrived at the restaurant around 2:20pm and were told there were no more hot dishes. What do you mean 2pm the kitchen no longer works? At the main time where customers usually have lunch? I found the staff very lazy and did not give us any other option viavel, just a food already made since the day before, they only reheat. Not to mention that we saw several hot dishes being served to other tables that seemed to me people who frequent the place regularly, that is, this is the criterion for good service? I did not return and nor recommend, there is a restaurant next door much better Oven 500.

Authentic little French bistrot in the heart of Dublin City. Good, welcoming and fast service, cosy atmosphere, appealing menu and tasty dishes.

A wonderful taste of French excellence. From the moment you step in the door, you feel immersed by the decor of a Parisian bistro. The food is excellent & served with a smile, all of the waiting staff were very friendly. I had the beef bourguignon and it was packed with flavour & a pleasure to eat. I tried the crème brûlée for dessert and it was absolute perfection. Pristinely caramelised & smooth like butter underneath. My only issue was that we were immediately offered water when we sat down at our table & were not informed that it would cost €4.50 for a bottle. I would've been fine with tap water! However, all in all, the experience was great and the food was delicious.

Chez Max We sat outside this lovely French restaurant on a warm September evening. Soup and steak were lovely, with the Crème Brulee finishing off a great dinner. Coffee was very good. Staff were very good, pleasant and helpful. Lovely location. We sat at a table outside the door and next to the entrance to Dublin Castle. Will be dropping by again, maybe for lunch. The menu looks good.

Great place in downtown dublin. Their food quality is superb, with fresh food and very well cooked. The location is perfect for a walk after dinner. Make sure you book a table, as it can get busy. The service is 5 stars, really fast and with a high attention to details. Would come back for sure! Ps. Loved the car outside

Believe the place is too small and nothing they can do about that. Loved my glass of white wine but I am a bit of an idiot- only found out they had given me a 12 euro glass of pouilly fume and not the cheaper sauvignon blanc I asked for , when I got the bill... Had the steak and it was okay. No vegetables but that seems to be the culture nowadays..

This is my second time in this restaurant, the one stuck to the castle out of sight. The environment is “chaleureux” like in France. The staff is pro and nice. In terms of food, my family was surprised of the quality as well as the presentation of the dishes. Nous nous sommes sentis comme à la maison. I advise you to try !

Been meaning to come here for quite a while, and it did not disappoint! We went for lunch, both had the Soupe à l'Oignon and a Croque-Madame. The soup was beautiful, so flavourful and well seasoned. The Croque-Madame was oozing with the béchamel and absolutely delicious. Both highly recommended, especially the soup!

I had the onion soup, mussels and creme brulee. All really great especially the onion soup which was amazing, however didn’t enjoy the mussels too much as they were a little undercooked. Would recommend booking as its quite a busy and charming spot

We had a lovely dinner here, goats cheese and crab brûlée starters, chicken and duck mains - all delicious! Staff friendly and attentive too - would really recommend!

Loved this place; the wait staff are incredibly friendly, the food is very nice! I had the moules which was divine, paired nicely with wine and the creme brûlée was the nicest I’ve found in Dublin so far. However, I found the small tarts’ shell in the cafe gourmand a bit stale or soft — but everything else was lovely! Has vegan and veggie options, though limited.

Good dining area, with marvellous atmosphere.. The food is delicious but my friend mentioned the bourguijon taste a little flat. Great place to dine with friends or family

Incredible food. Best restaurant I've been to in a long time and easily in the top 3 in all of Dublin. The saffron sauce was particularly impressive. Big variety of wines, only way to improve would be to offer a wider selection of beers. Chef is seriously talented.

We were tucked into the only outdoor space they had, but it was cute and the atmosphere was great. Their food is terrific. Especially their pate, and their dessert platter. Wow. Only issue was that they ran out of the wine we were drinking, but I think that was our fault, not theirs. We were making up for the lost time during Covid. We will be back!!!!
