Let me preface this review by letting you know that I never write reviews. Bad food, bad service, bad experiences alike, I never write bad reviews, but I'm changing that this time. I checked into the hotel, got my room key and was off. Upon returning and going up to my room, all seemed fine and I was just about to hop into the shower after unloading all of my items, and then I noticed something. There was already someone's belongings by the bed side. I assumed someone had left their belongings after checking out, and instead of handing the bag over to the staff (they seemed incompetent from the start), I decided to see if they had a cell phone that they might have called to see if anyone found their belongings. They did, but there were no missed calls. Then I saw their hotel receipt, showing my room, and I realized they had just checked in! The person's passport, cell phone, and I'm sure other important items were all in the bag, and if I had bad intentions, I could have taken any of them. I immediately gathered my belongings before the person assumes I'm robbing him. I told the staff what had happened and he was sure there was no mistake for about 30 seconds of back and forth. I told him I didn't care what he thought, but I knew someone was in my room. He realized someone had made a huge mistake and found me a different room. The safety concerns due to this mistake could have been disastrous to either of us. I'd recommend not booking here if you value security.

No elevator, the whole building looks like it's gonna fall apart, everything in the toilets were broken. Room temperature is way too hot, so you have to keep your window open when you sleep and the city is so busy that you cannot sleep because of all the noise. Only good thing was that it's close to everything in the city. Oh yeah, and the terrible rooms are incredibly expensive. One room with a bed for 2 people, cost 80-90€/person. AND everytime you want to go out you have to give your key back to the reception. No one is checking any id, so anyone could just walk in and get a key. I do not recommend this to anyone.

First things first: The location is good is near of the tourist points, is in front of the bus stop which is very practical to go to the airport. The building itself is old there isn't a lift ,be prepared to climb the stairs. The toilet is shared but is clean and organized. The room is tiny but enough to fit two people and their luggage. The sheet and pillows are clean, the shower is in the bedroom, and it's good (really good). There are also a sink and a mirror that's all you need to your hygiene. The breakfast is good, traditionally Irish. The breakfast room is clean and organized as well. The staff is polite and helpful, I was carrying a huge luggage, and I've booked a room in the second floor, at the moment of my check in the receptionist changed my room,so I could stay in the first floor which was very handy and I felt more comfortable as I was alone (at least I would be near of the reception in case anything happened). If you are used to fancy/posh hotel don't go there, but if you rather something simpler affordable but yet better than hostel ( I personally don't like sharing room with strangers)then it is your place! Avondale gives what it is: a bed and breakfast hotel.

Perfect place to stay while visiting Dublin. Affordable price, nice rooms, great location (super close to the main avenue where you get the hop on hop off bus tours, close to supermarkets and many cheap eats nearby). The staff is very nice and the breakfast is simply delicious. Will surely come back.

We were put in a very noisy room at the front of the building right next to reception, so we could hear each time anybody rung the bell to be let into the building, night and day, and the room itself was in poor condition too. The 'full Irish' breakfast was good, with sausages, beans, bacon egg and toast on offer, as well as tea, coffee and orange juice. The location was quite good, we could walk to all of the main attractions in Dublin fairly easily, and was just five minutes walk from the river.

Fine place to stay for a short trip. But nothing too special: shared toilet (clean) and breakfast incl (okay). Beds are okay, shower in the room. Staff is not especially friendly, but also not unfriendly. Everything is just okay enough.

I visited the hotel in August 2018. It was terrible. Literally terrible. Dirty, smelly dark. Dirty walls a hole in the bathroom. Dust all over the place. I hardy ever do i have the feeling everything i touch is so disgusting. The breakfast was terrible served in a room in the basement without windows. And finally the staff wasn't rude but far from being nice and helpful. Do not go there.

Good location for the city centre but very poor quality. Rooms has exposed wires, some beds did not have proper covers on, the shower didn't work properly, the toilet seats needed replacing and the meat on the cooked breakfast looked a bit sorry for itself!

Room was small and smelled of mold. Bed was nasty and the springs were popping through. The shower was gross and actually had mold on the cieling. The room was so cold at night that I had to wear long underwear, another thermal, and use 2 blankets. I also didn't like that someone came in the room to tidy it up without my permission or even letting me know this service would be rendered during the stay.

Holes in doors and walls. Broken vanity unit. There was a small tv in the room but could not use as no remote to work it . Only 2 plug sockets so if the tv were plugged in with the broken freeview box, nothing else could be. Beds were old and very thin. Wallpaper peeling off the walls. No kettle or cups in the room and nowhere to get even a glass of water. Breakfast was of a poor quality and staff were miserable. On our second morning we were asked if we wanted tea or coffee and we asked for tea, wich we didn't get. Would have been better staying in a hostel. The only good thing about this place was the location.

Having stayed in Dublin numerous times, I have to say this accommodation is terrible. The rooms need refurbishing, they're cold as hell and the ceiling looked like it was going to collapse. As for the fire safety for some reason the sprinkler was hanging out the ceiling with tissues stuffed in it. If you're staying in the room next to the reception, have fun listening to the doorbell all night.

When we got there we were checked in by a quite serious man, but that was ok. Our room was on the third floor, but the toilets on that floor were broken and we had to use the ones on the first floor. The room was fine and the breakfast was good. On our way out a very nice woman a serres or questions on getting to the airport. Overall, the place was good.
