This
is
an
old
school
stadium
with
a
modern
stand
and
two
top
quality
artificial
pitches.
It's
has
a
capacity
of
roughly
5,000
and
as
well
as
rugby
ocasionally
hosts
other
sports
and
events
such
as
concerts,
American
Football
and
GAA.
Donnybrook
stadium
was
recently
rebranded
as
Energia
Park
and
plays
host
to
Ireland
woman's
team,
inter
pro
games,
age
grade
representative
teams
as
well
as
many
Leinster
Senior
and
Junior
Cup
schools
games,
Leinster
Branch
club
finals
and
games
against
its
two
resident
clubs.
Donnybrook
is
steeped
in
rugby
tradition
and
home
to
two
of
Irish
rugby's
most
venerable
clubs
Bective
Rangers
FC
and
Old
Wesley.
Donnybrook
was
also
formerly
the
home
of
Leinster
Rugby
before
their
move
to
the
RDS
which
has
a
much
greater
capacity.
For
hundreds
of
years
up
until
the
1850's,
this
site
hosted
Donnybrook
Fair
which
ran
for
a
fortnight
each
summer.
It
became
famous
as
a
place
of
fighting
and
debauchery
and
gave
rise
to
the
slang
term
"a
Donnybrook"
meaning
a
good
brawl
or
fight.
