👍 The rooms and bathrooms were very clean, making our weekend getaway fantastic. The walls are a little thin but that could be only because a girl named Melissa and her boyfriend had one too many and had a lovely couples fight that lasted throughout the night. Bless her poor mother, Connie’s heart as... People often mention room, great, parking, hotel, stay, street, location, clean, time, night,

The rooms and bathrooms were very clean, making our weekend getaway fantastic. The walls are a little thin but that could be only because a girl named Melissa and her boyfriend had one too many and had a lovely couples fight that lasted throughout the night. Bless her poor mother, Connie’s heart as she was called multiple times. In better news, JD, the maintenance tech was absolutely lovely, both understanding and extremely helpful. Overall it was a great experience!

pros,: 1. Gorgeous room and wonderful historic building. has wonderful potential. 2. Great communication from managers with Airbnb type concept. Cons: 1. Right above sushi restaurant. The smell of fish and tempura lingered all night requiring purchase of air fresheners. 2. The noise from the street was nonstop until 3 AM with subwoofers and diesel engines. 3. The heat did not work. Despite being set at 80, the room temperature was 61° during the night. In February. Caught a cold. 4. . Parking is extremely difficult. Trying to find a meeter on the street was nearly impossible. Had to park in the ramp across the street which was fine, but have to pay each time in and out. Hotel needs to have a flat fee In-N-Out pass with the parking ramp/structure. I Was reserved for a three night stay, checked out after the first night. The managers were gracious enough to refund me the two nights I did not stay.

Pros: The room was very clean, nice and recently updated. The check in process was straightforward and easy. There is a small bar in the basement, which is nice if you want to grab a nightcap before headed to bed. The hotel is also located within walking distance to many good bars and restaurants. Cons: They don't advertise this, but the hotel is directly above a sushi restaurant. It's super awkward having to walk past the hostess stand and people having lunch/dinner every time you walk up to your room. They're is also a strong smell of the restaurants fryers in your room. The parking structure offered across the street is extremely sketchy. There are always about 5-6 homeless drug addicts lingering around the parking structure entrance, openly using drugs and begging for money. I never felt particularly good about leaving my car there overnight. Overall I was disappointed as I paid nearly $250 a night to stay here. I feel I could have stayed at a full service hotel for a similar cost that didn't stink and offered full amenities. I would not recommend staying here if other options are available.

We stayed in one of the Swedetown rooms. Sharing the bathroom was not a big deal. The rooms and bathrooms were nice, roomy, and clean. The beds were very comfortable. I liked the fan to use plus the a/c. The price was great. The Rathskeller was just steps away and great music. We enjoyed the bakery in the morning a few doors down the street. The managers promptly answered when we had trouble locking our door when we were going out. Very prompt and super nice. The only thing I would have liked is a window, but we were there just to sleep. There is too much to do in Duluth so we never intend to spend that time in our room. I'd go back and have recommended it to others. The location was great, close to many things

Pros : - The room and general atmosphere were absolutely awesome. We loved everything about our room (Room 11). It was comfortable and beautiful. The room was very clean and pretty well stocked. - check in was super easy (enjoyed the Airbnb-style more than we thought we would…for the most part) - requests for additional items received prompt response. - unique take on repurposing an old building is great! Cons (and there were a couple big ones for us): - parking. It’s a huge one that would probably deter us from returning any time soon provided the current state of things continues. The street parking was usually full anytime we returned, so we had to park in the parking structure across the street. It was super sketchy with people using drugs and camping out in the stair well. we found a much nicer parking garage near the hospital, parked there, and ended up being followed by one of the folks camping out near the other parking structure. It was enough for us to leave a day early as we didn’t quite feel safe being followed two blocks. - location. While convenient, there do seem to be a large number of unsavory characters hanging out near said parking structure and one of the bus stops. - the shared space. While we weren’t terribly bothered by the sushi restaurant downstairs, if you’re someone sensitive to food smells, it probably would be a huge letdown for you. We both really wanted to love this hotel, but the location and parking situation just weren’t for us. Hopefully, one day, things can improve and we would love to come back and have a better experience. Many of our issues were by no means the fault of the hotel, either. Sure, validated parking or some agreement with city parking would be great, but it may not resolve some of the issues. The hotel itself was absolutely great! We just did not feel particularly comfortable with the parking situation and general location. If you’re comfortable with that, then go for it!

Loved this place! So close to canal park with convenient walking bridge to canal park and fitgers. Parking across the street is $12 a day. Only thing I wasn't thrilled with is the smell from Wasabi comes into the rooms. Made my sinuses run. Also door for downstairs rooms squeaks super loud. Totally will stay here against. And Rathskelller is a hidden gem in the basement. Loved it!!

Unique experience and great location in the heart of downtown and within easy walking distance of the Lake Walk, Canal Park and many other attractions. Service was great with nearly immediate text responses to any questions. Room was clean and cozy.

At first we were very excited. We stayed in the Grand Chamber. It was a very interesting and unique room. We stayed at this place on our wedding night. When we returned to the room the keypad was dead. We struggled to find someone to return our phone calls. Someone finally came and let us in. It all took about 45 minutes to get into our room. It was very frustrating. They said they would take care of us but after this we never heard anything else from them. I would not stay here or recommend someone stay here.

Stayed in Munger room with my partner. Clean and cozy. Great king size bed with private bathroom. Getting in and out is tricky at first but mgmt was responsive and helpful. Was able to find street parking on a Sunday. Only con is thermostat isn’t adjustable so it got a little warm but beyond that worth it!

The Oliver was a neat way for us to spend our time in Duluth. We came up on a Sunday afternoon in September so it was quiet and a lot of things in the area were closed. We totally enjoyed the atmosphere they created here, it was quiet and unique and close to walking the path for Lake Superior (which we walked twice, once during daylight and once after dark). If it weren’t for being Sunday the hotel would have been closer to more food options, but walking around down by the Canal area was fun and we just walked until we found a place to eat. The hotel was clean, spacious and very comfortable. The bed slept well, the air conditioning was great and overall we couldn’t have had a better time staying here. Thank you Rod and Katrina for creating a great experience for us to enjoy!

Building has so much history. Fridge, microwave, coffee maker, they leave free drink coupons, fan in room, hair dryer, nice and cool in the room, sink and mirror in the room, snacks in the room which was cool, super comfortable beds, beddings and pillows. Great location and able to walk everywhere around downtown and Canal Park. Owners are so kind and went over and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed and responded right away. First time staying in a room that had a shared bathroom but there are 2 and they were always open even though it was a holiday and they keep everything so clean. I don't have any cons-we had a great couple days staying. Would definitely stay again. Pro tip: Park at the meters outside the hotel to check in and unpack and then drive up the hill to 3rd Street and park for free and save $12 a day for parking.

Wonderful downtown location that is a very short walk from many of Duluth's best attractions. Beautiful and clean rooms filled with some fun history of the building. Would absolutely stay here again on my next Trip!

Stayed in room 5. Loved the room, the location, the vibe and the proximity to tons of cool stuff. Most comfortable bed and pillows I’ve slept on in a hotel in a while, and the box fan for drowning out street noise was a very nice touch. I would have rated the room higher but…they need to figure out the ventilation. The smell of deep fried food from the adjacent restaurant was overpowering and inescapable, especially at bed time. I’d consider staying here again, but definitely in a different room.

Stunning building andaaaaaq high ceilings and incredible art + detail that created an airy atmosphere. The location was convenient being right downtown and surrounding area wasn't terribly imposing. When we needed assistance with our room the owners responded immediately and were amazingly helpful.

Great experience with the staff from booking thru checkout. The room was clean and so cozy, and I loved being able to walk across the hall for sushi. Being right next to the entrance I was a little concerned with traffic and noise, but after Wasabi closed it was so quiet. Would recommend and will definitely be staying again!

Very cool hotel, I booked for a girls weekend. We stayed in room 11 the Chester and Clara Congdon room. I chose this place because of the great price; nearly every hotel in Duluth is over priced and usually not very nice unless you're willing to spend almost $300/night. We weren't sure what to expect, but when we arrived late in the evening, we used the code that was emailed to us and got right into our room. I will admit, looking at the Duluth casino isn't the best view, but close the drapes and the room is great. It's a little odd walking past a sushi restaurant to go to your room, but we had apps and the good was great. We had to call to call for more toilet paper and were answered immediately and provided with great service. The elevator also went down during our stay and when I called, I was promptly answered and it was fixed very quickly. My only "complaint" would be that there aren't many outlets, so if you want to plug your phone in next to your bed, you can't. But it's an old historical building so it's understandable. It would also be nice to have a luggage rack or two to put suitcases on. Overall, it was a great experience and I'd love to stay in a different room another time, they are all so unique!

The Oliver Inn was a lovely, un-fussy stay in the perfect location in downtown Duluth. Garage parking across the street and easy walking to Canal Park. The Rathskeller was a highlight with live jazz and excellent cocktails. Overall had an awesome stay in this beautiful, historical building.

Stayed here for a weekend get away and it was awesome! Very accommodating and helpful management/staff. The rooms/bed were very comfortable and had everything we needed. It is such a unique hotel with a view of the lake. We stayed in the Grand Chamber suite- it was huge and has so much fun decor. The hotel has a neat history and is conveniently located. We were able to walk to everything we wanted to do. The restaurant on the main floor was really good and the bar in the cellar was inviting. Definitely will stay again!
