We were on vacation spending the weekend in Duluth. We were greeted by the friendly hotel staff as we checked in. Our room was clean but very bland. The beds were comfortable. Although, there was not much view except the highway. The walls are paper thin. We could hear other people’s conversations like they were in the room with us. The hotel has a kid friendly pool with 5 feet as the deepest part. It also has a hot tub. The complimentary breakfast was excellent. Breakfast starts at 7 am on the weekends. It has make your own waffles, muffins, eggs, sausage, yogurt, and oatmeal. It was a mediocre hotel, but we were expecting more from how much we paid for it.

A solid 4 out of 5. The hotel was clean and tidy but our room floor (at the entrance) did have stains. But overall the room was clean. The bathroom was clean. Toilet was spotless. Our beds were clean as well. Our room even had a "clean" remote which is a nice addition to the room. The TV worked as it should. Everything was good! The bed spring is just a tad bit harder compared to a softer bed so, be aware that the beds aren't as soft. There is breakfast from 6am-9am. The hotel location is convenient as it's just a 5 minute drive from popular breweries and restaurants and gas station. Employees are nice and helpful. A great place to stay in Duluth. Would recommend staying here if you can't find another place near downtown.

This place was really nice. It doesn’t look like much from the outside but inside was great. Clean, spacious, great breakfast, pool/sauna/hot tub were all open. It’s an industrial area so not real pretty and not much nearby but a short drive brings you to everything. Check in/out were quick and painless. Highly recommend. Prices a little steep but that’s true everywhere and it was well worth the extra money for a nice place.

The stay itself was great. Everything was clean and the hotel is nice. The staff were great at every interaction. However, I asked for a late checkout and I was offered one at 12 for $15 I believe and a checkout at 1 for $30. Through Choice's website, their late checkout fees are purely at the discretion of the hotel owners. The hotel is not busy at all, it's almost February here in Duluth. The owner should leave this "discretion" to their team members, not make it a mandatory fee. I would understand the charge if I was "putting out" the cleaning team but like I said, even the front desk staff confirmed the hotel isn't nearly full. I must reiterate the front desk staff was very helpful and polite. They were only doing their job so I don't blame them.

The room was exceptionally clean, had many charging ports, the bed was very comfortable. The pool and hot tub areas were very nice. Fresh cookies available. Lots of extras. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We stay there, every time we are in Duluth.

The two women working the front desk were super helpful. They were able to get us checked in almost 3 hours early, and made sure we found where we could park closer to our room! Very impressive service!

I’ll start with the negatives because I want to end this on a good note. The beds could have been more comfortable with a bit heavier blanket. The carpet was wet so that was a little gross. The bathrooms could use an update…. Now to the good bits! The ac worked really well, which we were thankful for because we sleep best when we’re chill. The employees here were fantastic, I can’t say good enough things about them. The lobby clerks were quick and prompt with a smile! The maids were on top of things and came by to clean our room since we had requested when we reserved the room but we decided against it since it was still clean enough for us. Perhaps my favorite employee was the older lady who served in the little bar area. The bar area outside the pool (indoor) was a brilliant idea, and the drinks she served us were AMAZING. Definitely try the tequila sunrise and thank me later! The lobby area was updated and clean. The free breakfast was pretty great as well, the second morning was biscuits and gravy which were to die for!! The pool area was gorgeous and they do have a hot tub which we didn’t go into but it’s always a bonus! The price was really high for the room for the weekend because of the air show and other events happening in Duluth, but we would do it again in a heartbeat!

Comfort Is Key Here The Comfort Inn is located four miles from the popular Canal Park area that we came to see, but is in an area that seemed a tad sketchy. The first nice touch we noticed was front row parking for veterans, which we took advantage of. Entering the lobby you will be in awe of the beamed cathedral ceiling and the vastness of the seating area. Plenty of comfortable easy chairs and sofas for large groups to congregate. The large breakfast area and entrance to the pool can be found towards the rear of the lobby. The pool and spa area were very clean and inviting with several patio tables available. We felt it was large enough for a hotel twice it's size. There also was a small outdoor patio with tables and chairs if you preferred. Our room was immaculate with comfortable furniture and bedding. Good sized T.V. and a mini fridge were present. The room was good sized with a bathroom stocked with plenty of towels and amenities. We chose this hotel partly based on having a Perkins restaurant right next door for our morning breakfast, but quickly changed our minds when we saw the extensive selection of items in the hotel breakfast area. Save yourself some money by partaking in the delicious spread right here in the lobby. We had no idea how popular the Canal Park is during peak season and were shocked to see the hotel prices right on the waterfront. We still we hesitant to pay what we spent here, but if you check around online you'll see that almost all hotels in the city are within a few bucks for a night. So, I would recommend the Comfort Inn West as it is an easy four mile drive into the Park rather than spend as much as $600 for a hotel right in the thick of things. We have been coming to this hotel for almost 20 years. It never seems to age! It is always super clean! From the rafters down to the plants, no dust to be seen. Everything is in order. The pool is our favorite hotel pool ever! The only drawback to this hotel is its location because it’s not waterfront, but I. Our estimation, everything else makes up for it, especially the staff. The front desk staff seem genuinely happy to be at their jobs and to serve their guests. That is such a beath of fresh air! Here’s to another 20 years!!!

There are multiple factors to be taken account while rating a hotel. The biggest factor is what value you are getting versus what you are paying. May be due to the long weekend, but the nightly rates were insane and the service and few trivial things ruined the stay for us. The hotel has lots of good things. Located at a nice location, just off the highways. It has delicious breakfast options and good choices. Clean and lots of space. The rooms are decent and have a microwave, fridge and decent cable tv too. The problem was the service and communication. I explicitly asked three times to have our room cleaned during our multi night stay. It was not entertained. Three different people in the lobby promised me that it would be taken care of, it was not. The simple disregard was shockingly rude. They could have just said No but false promises do not sit well with us. The next problem was poor noise isolation. The ac was constantly noisy with some kind of eater dripping inside it, and did not let me sleep. The pillows were very poor quality too. Not good sleep equals a poor rating. With a nightly price rated reaching more than 200 usd, with taxes and other fees, the standard in service and guest request fulfillment was nowhere near satisfactory. Their inability to meet normal demands or be empathetic to medical emergency related requests , does not help in their reputation as well. 2/5. If you spend this much for sure there are better alternatives out there.

I usually don’t write reviews but couldn’t not share how over the top amazing this hotel is. Just imagine: warm cookies , tea, and coffee available all day; happy hour at the bar; a great pool; the best continental breakfast of all time (eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy); quiet; the most comfortable beds/blankets/sheets; and room TVs have logged in Netflix, HBO max, and YouTube. Plus the service is 10/10. Book your stay here it is definitely NOT a “2 star hotel”.

I rate hotels on three standards, cleanliness, beds and breakfast, if offered. This place gets the highest rank on all three. The staff has been great, too. Bonus: I'm sitting in the lobby killing time as I can't get checked in down on the canal until four and they are playing Halloween music which is fun.

The breakfast was pretty good. The first morning of breakfast, they offered what was more like boiled red potatoes and eggs. The second morning was sausage gravy and eggs, which was pretty good. The room was very nice, clean and roomy. However, if you face the entrance to Interstate 35, you will feel like you are just outside of the Indianapolis 500 very loud. Location is not bad but is in the middle of nowhere. Pool is phenomenal and warm!

Tho there is some wear and tear on the carpet, bathroom, and the pool (expected/normal), it was overall a really good and clean hotel. Would come back to this hotel again for sure as met our needs and felt clean and welcoming. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They offer discounted tickets to a few of the attractions at the desk. The double queen suite with pull out couch and table/2 chairs and a desk were very spacious for a family of 4. Breakfast was hot and fresh all 5 days of our stay, the attendant was great at restocking and we ate at variety of the times between the 6-9a time. They have washer and dryers for $2 a wash/$2 a dry. They sell laundry soap for $1/box as well. We opted for light cleaning of towels and garbage for our stay but they didn't refill shampoo/conditioner so that may not be part of the light cleaning - can ask for more at front desk. Did not hear next door neighbors but could hear heavy steps occasionally from people above as well as hallway people talking (completely normal). We were next to the ice machine which was kind of loud but really only noticed when one guy was repeatedly using it at 7am (not sure if he was cleaning it or was filling a green cooler). There is no ATM but the hotel is across the street from a Wells Fargo bank. There is a Perkins next store and a very delicious burger drive in (A & Dubs - cash only drive in) less than a mile a way. There's a Holiday gas station close by too that's on the other side of the bank. It's a simple drive to downtown area, as well as beautiful sights like Enger Tower Park.

Great place to stay. The staff is very friendly and extremely helpful. Great location to get somewhere quick. My wife and I have stayed there at least 4 separate times. Every time was great.

Hotel/room were very clean, nicely decorated, with a comfortable bed! Breakfast was very nice, and they have a lovely pool/hot tub/sauna area. The location is convenient just off interstate, but not close to waterfront. The price was also more reasonable because it wasn't on the waterfront too! I can drive to the harbor pretty cheaply! Very pleasant place! Will stay here again!

We stayed here for an 8 wk medical issue. Desk staff are very helpful & always considerate. Housekeeping manager is on top of things keeping all areas clean. Lobby area is open & airy. We always felt safe. Breakfast girls are constantly replenishing items making sure guests are satisfied. Entrances & exits doors are easily accessible & well lit as well as the parking lot. Definitely recommend this Comfort Inn.

Having never been to Duluth before we were a little apprehensive on finding good accommodations but the Comfort Inn West hit it out of the park. The property was clean and easy to get to, the rooms were clean and comfortable. My wife enjoyed the pool which was beautiful. The staff was friendly and accommodating from checkin to checkout. The breakfast had excellent choices as well. The location was even convenient to the downtown lake front area. The only drawback was there seem to be a lot of truck traffic in the area which made it a little noisy but everything else was 5 star. Plus it was convenient to I35 and US 2 for us to continue our trip West. I would definitely stay here again.

Very nice hotel, check in and out was easy and staff was friendly and helpful. They have a nice lounge area and decent size breakfast area and selection. Also have a mini bar that is open on Friday and Saturday I believe that also can make nachos and frozen pizza from what I was told. The hotel was pretty full when we stayed and there were plenty of parking. Also it is right across the street from a Perkins and a gas station. Will definitely be staying here again.

Really nice, comfortable, and clean. The Comfort Inn rarely disappoints! This may be my new go-to hotel in Duluth! My only gripe may be that the curtains were only room darkening and not blackout curtains, but that was probably a good thing, otherwise I’d never leave!

Second time we have stayed at this hotel. They offer an online check-in which I really didn't like doing, but found out at the desk I didn't have to do it. The email you get doesn't make it clear that it is an option. Room was nice, bed was between ok to good. Everything worked and was clean. The breakfast was clean, lots of options, was very busy at 8:30 on a Monday. Would definitely stay again.

Best hotel I’ve stayed at in Minnesota for some time. King bed was phenomenally comfortable, room was a 10 out of 10 for cleanliness (Mona was name on card). The provided shampoo and conditioner was not a nasty feeling. If your in business, plenty of plug ends and a 4-USB port station for phones etc. I did not use the TV but was large. The AC and heat worked very well to find my perfect temp. Didn’t use hot tub or pool but very clean and many kids using i having a blast. Only criticism would be there is no light above the shower, kinda dark. When I woke up, receipt was slid under door.I left at 5:30am and breakfast didn’t start till 6am. Central, oatmeal, toast, donuts type items were available. They have Sunkist apple juice, orange juice, filtered water and a flavored No sugar with vitamins machine! Flavored water was perfect. Comfort and welcoming by staff 10 of 10. I’m big until security, and at 10pm staff manually lets people in and out of the front-door. Lastly they have a policy (I believe but not certain) to say your room # out loud when others are in line behind you. I wish every location did this. Oh—-i set my own alarm but also had a wake up call at 5:01 am and it came perfectly. I would have easily paid double to have the comfort, amenities provided.

We were pleased with our 2 night stay. Nice and clean room as well as lobby. Breakfast was good. We appreciated the ladies working in the breakfast area who were attentive and kept the area clean.

Had a wonderful stay! The lady at the check in desk on the evening of may 14th was very polite and sweet. All around nice staffing! Pool looked nice and inviting but didn't have time to visit it. I quess the only down fall I didn't like was the apple juice but I'm also just picking about it so still 5 stars and definitely recommend when visiting the area. Close to downtown also.

I REALLY liked this hotel and wish I could give it 5 stars. The atmosphere was great. All the employees we encountered were fabulous and as nice as could be. Breakfast was very yummy and the pool was nice and clean. The reason I'm not giving the highest possible review is because the beds were SUPER uncomfortable. The mattress was very hard, after spending two nights there my back is really sore and I think I would book somewhere else if I'm ever in town again. ☹️

My husband and I loved our stay there. The facility and staff we encountered were wonderful. However, do NOT forget anything there. I ended up leaving my expensive winter coat that was gifted to me by a loved one in the closet. I easily forgot it when we left, because it was warm enough to not wear one the whole weekend. When we got home and I realized we had forgotten it, I gave the hotel a call. The woman working that night told me no one had checked into that room since we had left that Sunday, she seemed confident it would be there and went to look. It wasn’t in the closet, nor did housekeeping have it in the lost and found. She told me she would give me a call back if they were to find it, but I heard nothing. A week later, I called to check in and I received the same answer; the housekeeping manger didn’t receive any reports of a black winter coat, Laundry brand in their logs. Again, the people I encountered were lovely and I would even stay there again, but I will never forget anything there again. My coat was still in that closet and whoever took it, was not being honest with the housekeeping manger which I did not appreciate. Highly disappointed in the inability to come forward. Now I don’t have a winter coat in February and don’t have the money to buy one for awhile.

A+ customer service. Everyone we encountered really did an amazing job at welcoming us on our annual trip to Duluth. The room was very clean and I loved the personalized greeting on the tv. Kids had a great time at the pool and hot tub. The pool area was very clean and well kept. Breakfast was hot and delicious and well stocked. I loved all the extra touches this hotel puts the effort into. The price was very reasonable. We will be back next year!
