This is a great place. Really nice rooms, and the ships go right past your window--kind of surprising how close! Just across the street from Lake Superior. At the end of the lift bridge. Free breakfast too!

Very sweet hotel. Comfortable and clean. Breakfast was low key but DELICIOUS with the Greek yogurt parfait and cranberry and wild rice toast.

This was a great place to stay for a little getaway. Clean rooms, high ceilings-- gas fireplace and jacuzzi as well as a balcony that overlooks the lift bridge. Easy walk to canal park and downtown Duluth. I would definitely stay here again!

Loved my stay here at South Pier Inn! Literally the first resort on the right after you pass the bridge in Duluth. The suite room was equipped with a fire place, balcony, and bath tub jacuzzi. Was very nice and relaxing. The view of Duluth couldn’t have been better. The complimentary breakfast is nothing to write home about, but love the different juice options that included orange, apple, and pineapple. Would recommend a stay in Duluth here!!

Convenient, cozy, perfectly clean, amazing view of Canal Park, friendly staff & great amenities! Though the room was a little small, it worked for us! We had never heard of South Pier Inn but I’m glad we checked it out, stayed here for our six year anniversary and it was definitely a treat! We definitely recommend staying here!

What a treat! Lakefront setting has fantastic views. The staff was welcoming and knowledgeable. The rooms were awesome - comfortable, quiet, and the can't beat the whirlpool. Steps away from the Lift Bridge and an easy walk into Duluth. Highly recommend!

We have stayed here twice so far and plan to make it our anniversary stay. Back in October we booked for our anniversary and got the romance package. The rose petals, champagne, and chocolate were a great touch. Staff is always so friendly. The day we stayed, there was a tour offered to learn a little about the history around the area with one of the owners. It was a fun little walk around. Him and my boyfriend had a great time talking about ships and exchanging facts that they knew. We also love the location, perfect for seeing ships come through!

Will absolutely return. It's conveniently located within walking distance to everything on the pier, and less than a 20 min drive from many, many places. We got the balcony room; spacious and very clean. Super comfortable, free TV channels and an HDMI is provided in case you want to hook something up (I don't know, your switch or phone?) Nice light continental breakfast, and complimentary 1hr late checkout.

We throughly enjoyed our visit. Very clean, nicely decorated rooms. Many homey touch’s: decor, fireplace, hanging hooks, umbrellas and binoculars to name a few. Several complimentary food/snack items. Refrigerator & microwave in the rooms, plus spacious. The staff and owners were very friendly and wonderful host. Loved the free guided history walking tour. Rooms and bed were comfortable.

My wife and I stayed here to Celebrate our 2 year wedding anniversary and had a great time! The location was close to everything in Duluth and the views are amazing. The service was excellent and the breakfast was so good. The only thing I could say as an improvement was there a few visible spiderwebs on our deck that prevented us from enjoying it and there was a rather large one in our doorway. For what we paid I expected not to see those. Also, our tub was dirty once we filled it with water but we just drained it and filled it up again. All in all we would stay here over and over again.

Beautiful location at the harbor end of the Duluth canal. Watched the ships come in from our room. Breakfast was a bit light, but not what you came there for. Grounds are very well kept. Staff was very friendly.

We will definitely be staying here again. We had a corner room and the view was amazing. The tub was spacious. The location was ideal, we walked to dinner. Highly recommend.

Perfect location for Grandma's Marathon. Multiple restaurants within a 30 minute walk. Nice room with a comfortable bed, didn't need to add a memory foam mattress topper. Light breakfast options available. Plan on coming back here early for next year's race to see more of Duluth from a great location. Loved sitting on the balcony and watching the ships coming in and out of the port.

South Pier Inn is my new favorite hotel. The location is perfect, right next to the bridge and an easy walk to many restaurants, bars, and entertainment. The inn itself has thoughtful touches such as a DVD player and DVDs (in the main office), completely cookies and phone chargers of all types. We had a bridge view room and the view was amazing. The tub was spacious and relaxing. We are already planning on booking a couple of days at South Pier Inn again in the near future just so we can spend more time in the Inn.

We loved our stay for our anniversary! Our room had a jacuzzi, fireplace, stunning bay window view, balcony, and beautiful high ceilings. We had the best time being able to walk right to the pier, Grandma's, and Rocky Mountain Chocolate Shop. I truly am sad to leave but I can't wait to come back!! 100% 10/10 recommend! Oh and the staff was super nice and friendly.

Stunning views... right at the base of the most amazing bridge in Minnesota. Enjoyed a closeup balcony view of an Iron ore freighter arriving into Port. Wind was boisterous from northeast... such great wave pics. Enjoyed a free surfing show in the afternoon.

We stayed here for our 10th anniversary, and again for our 20th, and it is such a special place to be! We got the corner panoramic view with the hot tub and fireplace. Watching the ships and lift bridge right out the window is pretty amazing. The staff is friendly and helpful - always ready to answer questions about the ship schedules, continental breakfast was good, rooms clean and well kept up. The best part was the free tour of the canal and bridge given by one of the owners! Randy was full of information and a great story teller. Stay here any chance you get! Included are three views from our room, and one from the walk right outside.

I have nothing bad to say about this place! I am a housekeeper/have been a GM of a hotel, so I can be very objective. My room was very clean, the pillows and lighting were more than I'd expected, staff was friendly, a few "extra's" in the room I was surprised to see for a place at such a low price. And you simply can't beat the location! I have raved to others who are potentially planning a trip to here in the near future. This place gives a huge bang for your buck, and I highly recommend it! I was very happy with my stay, and I will be back, for sure!

If you could start from a clean sheet of paper and draw up the perfect charming small hotel, you'd wind up with something almost exactly like South Pier Inn. Great place, super clean, beautiful rooms, charm to spare, top notch across the board. Only thing felt could be better was environmental attention, still had disposable toiletries, lots of single wrapped plastics at breakfast. Otherwise... perfect.

We stayed for a night for a show in town and loved it! The room was great—large comfortable bed/linens, nice fireplace, jacuzzi tub, and a large balcony overlooking the water/city. It was excellent. They have a great little breakfast bar with a variety of options - fruit, donuts, yogurts parfait, bagels, etc. I’d absolutely stay again!

You definitely pay for the location and/or views depending on how much you pay. I got a canal view room and the room itself is very nice. The technology in the room and hotel desperately needs updating. The TV was at least 10 years old and wasn’t very big considering how much the room was. If I bought some DVDs I’d have a player for those, though! Wifi was barely adequate, I could browse and play YouTube and stuff, but could not upload anything to save my life. I had to hotspot to my phone to upload a video to Facebook. I wouldn’t bother unless you have to be close or have to have a view. Breakfast was very basic (bread, bagels, baked goods, and cold stuff), but they did have some nice local baked goods.

Great accommodations. One of the only true separate suite rooms in Duluth with a hot tub, great view, and perfect location. Also super friendly and helpful staff. We’ve stayed at South Pier Inn 6+ times.

You felt like family staying here. The best view in Duluth! The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating, even with our 18 month old. We will definitely be returning in our next trip to Duluth!

You are paying for the location. It is absolutely beautiful. You are on the water. It's nice to walk out your door and sit in an Adirondack chair and stare out over the water. The rooms were very spacious and very clean.

Highly recommended. Beautiful view and walking distance to dining/shopping in Canal Park. Great room with hot tub and fireplace. Really enjoyed our stay! We'll be back.

We loved this place! We stayed here, then the next night we had a different hotel and we were disappointed that it wasn't nearly as nice as the South Pier Inn! (The 2nd night was a spur of the moment decision.) We loved the view, the room, the bed was heaven, everything was perfect! There was an umbrella available in the room! And a plush robe for both of us. We highly recommend it!
