Lovely hotel, but horrible check-in experience. We arrived a bit after 4 and were told that the rooms had not been cleaned, but we would get a text when the rooms were ready. Two hours later I went back to the front desk to ask how much longer it would be and was told the rooms still weren't ready. I was then informed...“Oops. It looks like housekeeping is gone for the day.” After asking, repeatedly, whether or not we would eventually have accommodations for the evening, we were finally told, “Oh wait. I guess your rooms are ready.” The two people working the front desk seem to think that oversight was hilarious and no apologies were offered for the inconvenience. Certainly, not a catastrophic situation, but the way this was handled was really off-putting. Particularly at this price point. I’ll find somewhere else to stay the next time I’m in Duluth.

We love Fitger’s. Return annually. Love the location, ambiance and amenities. Rooms are old and not always 100% - some in better shape than others we’ve discovered. Ac issues or other things that plague historic buildings occasionally occur, but we always enjoy our stay. Staff go out of their way to ensure you’re satisfied, correct issues, even if it means relocating you to a different room …even upgrades! Just celebrated our 50th anniversary there, found a bottle of bubbly chilling along with glasses and a sweet note from the staff when we arrived. Wonderful service.

It is a historic building with good water views and extremely poor ventilation and extremely bad air flow. This is a dog friendly hotel so you can imagine the various of pet urine and old musty odors. If you ask the front desk for a fan they will give you one. But I feel like you shouldn’t need to ask, it needs to be a staple in the room. The staff was always very kind and accommodating. If you do travel with a pup you can ask for a dog bed at the front desk. I also noticed they had different dogs behind the counter so they might keep an eye on your pet if you needed. Everywhere we went was dog friendly along the strip. The daily paper at the front door is definitely a nice touch. Room service line never answered for me so I just walked down to the restaurant for breakfast. The view is gorgeous. Side note. Take an older relative on a scooter adventure. They sit right outside and just download the app and go. It’s so much fun. Trust me they will love it and you will have lots of laughs together. The food at the brewers bar was delicious but because it’s really one of two places that is either good to eat or even open the service takes forever. But drinks can help the long dark wait. The reason this hotel received 4 stars is solely because of location and being dog friendly. We won’t be staying here again mostly because of bad smells, air and ventilation quality. With that said it was our first time in Duluth and I’m glad we had the experience of the history.

An amazing set up here with a great restaurant lots of beer, a coffee shop, bookstore, and all kinds of little shops to look around. Their burger and salmon burger were both delicious. But the best was the beer! We got 3 flights and picked our favorite in 2 growlers to go. Also the cannabis drink, A can of chill (cannachill). We'll definitely come back when we're in the area!

We had a great time at Fitger’s Inn. The rooms were beautiful with a great view! We stayed here for our wedding and would stay again. It was nice having options for restaurants and shopping within the building.

Beautiful view of Lake Superior, with outdoor seating and surrounded by interesting little shops and their own Brewery downstairs. Live music and a very diverse atmosphere. I love this place!!

This is a beautiful hotel. Staff is very courteous. Got the last room they had available which was the city side whirlpool studio. I can only speak of my own experience here but I wouldn’t stay here again unless it was on the lake side. 1. Really expensive. 2. City side whirlpool suite has a skylight with no mention in the description. Very bright to wake up to. 3. Hard to sleep because of the noise. Between the traffic outside, the sirens from the hospital across the street, housekeeping clonking around, people talking outside and inside we got terrible sleep. 4. Bathroom was not cleaned well. 5. There wasn’t a do not disturb sign in room. 6. No pen for the notepad. Update - When checking out Josh at the front desk inquired about our stay and gave us a small discount which was greatly appreciated.

Wonderful place to take in a gorgeous view of Lake Superior. Plenty of shopping food and attractions within walking distance and nearby.

We booked a weekend at Fitgers for our anniversary and were very excited given that we had visited the complex on a previous trip and really enjoyed it. Unfortunately, my husband had an unexpected surgery two days before our trip. It seemed like he would be fully recovered in time, so we kept our reservation. Finally, on the morning of our trip, his condition hadn’t improved enough for us to be able to enjoy our trip, so we had to cancel last minute. We knew that we would still be charged for the first night which was perfectly fair. However, upon explaining the situation over the phone, Fitgers offered to cancel our reservation at no cost to us, which was amazingly kind and made us feel so much better about our situation. This is a classy establishment with great customer service! We will definitely be staying with them the next time we are in town.

First time stay at Fitger's Inn. Loved it. We paid the extra $$$ for the lake side room. It was awesome! Love the "oldness" of the place, the look, the feel, the old pictures of history in the lobby and the halls. Large rooms, Great lake sounds and views, we had our window open the whole time. Very unique attached mall as well. Book store, brewery, coffee shops, outfitters. Fun walk. Great location, walks on the waterway. We rented scooters for a quick buzz around the lake front. Loved it all. Will definitely stay there again.

Unique older building, some rooms still have stale cigarette smoke. Pricy hotel restaurant. There's a disabled parking spot that needs a new sign and new paint on the parking spot. It's the closest handicap spot that's not block off due to the ice covered parking lot. Two nights a non-disable, no handicap tags and no rear view mirror hanging tag was parked in this spot. I am sure it was an honest mistake by the driver but the hotel could easily put up another sign to rectify the issues quickly. My mom is almost 73 and walks with a cane. She needed that spot.

Good location, connected to a slew of indoor shopping. Brewery in house too. Large deck on back of building with a great walk along the lake to match. Easy access to whole city & views.

Fitger's is one of those places one should visit when they go to Duluth. Every city and town has that sort of place. For Duluth, it's Fitger's. The burgers have that yummy char on them and the beers are in house. If you aren't sure how to spend a day, sit at the bar and start chatting. Your week will be full of activities

Loved everything about this place. Beautiful room,we had a 2 queen city view, with a couch, desk, coffee table and all the works. The shops, restaurants and bars were so fun to explore and enjoy, all inside a huge complex without ever going outside. We had a cup of coffee in the morning compliments of the inn and enjoyed it outside as we took a walk on the beautiful lakeside trail that borders lake superior. So much to look at and enjoy!

This is a great hotel. My wife and I have gone there for anniversary. In the middle of winter. And I always had a great time. Location is perfect for us. The staff is nothing less than superb. Highly recommend if you go to Duluth.

Had a very nice stay here. Place was dated but that's its charm. Location was perfect for our visit. Bed and memory foam pillow were a perfect fit for me. Will stay here again when I come back down.

Just simply gorgeous! It's like you've traveled back in time. The building speaks of history. Such a classy vibe. Guest actually get a key, not a key card an actual key to your room. The free valet service is awesome. They even warm the car for you once you are ready for check out. Beautiful view of lake superior. There is a bunch of restaurants within the hotel and shops that you don't even have to leave the building. I will for sure be back.

At first site we didn't know what to think about our room. Once settled, it grew on us and we liked the 'oldness' about it. Very cozy and what a view of the lake! What we didn't like was the thermostat. Very difficult to control and ended up having a maintenance person come to check it out the next day. Used a space heater the first night. Issue was fixed the next morning.

This is a really great place right on the edge of lake superior. They have an Aveda salon which I absolutely love. My favorite shop is Trail Fitters. It's an outdoor gear shop and they sell really high end brands and the staff are incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. I love their selection of Patagonia items! 😀❤

Absolutely one of the best in Duluth.Fun shops, good restaurant, super nice staff. My most recent stay was one night only for business. Not my best experience there. I was disappointment to wake up, pull my shower curtain and find the shower head broken, it fell back towards the wall making it impossible to wash my hair and very hard to shower. No time to wait for a repair, had to get to work. I was further disappointed that when I called the desk I just got a “we will get right on that” - after I explained I was checking out. Nice for the next guest (and I have a hard time believing the previous guest did not report it) but how about a “sorry for the inconvenience”? Not the most expensive place in the state, but not the cheapest either. Would have been nice to get a good shower before work for my money.

It was a long drive from the Cities and we were exhausted. Dorothy greeted us, the valet took our van, and we saw our room and sighed with relief. Tall ceiling with dramatic drapes and windows (perfect for teens posting to the 'Gram), roomy, and clean. We did not order from the specialty pillow menu, but we were intrigued enough to think about it. Great coffee at the Yellow Bike Cafe (My daughter said the drink they made her was the best she's ever had.) We bought cards and games in the book store, sniffed the air of the spa, looked at clothes, and safely wandered around the inn. It was my kids' first time in Duluth and Fitgers helped make it a memorable experience.

Beautiful specialty shopping center. Several wonderful restaurants to choose from. Highly rated full service salon and Duluth's highest rated hotel. Great location. Easy on site parking. Everything you could possibly want - right on Lake Superior!

One of the last hotels that still uses physical keys, which I like. Historical and unique experience. Lots to do and see. Get a room with a lake view, you won't be disappointed. The fingers blend coffee is lovely. Phenomenal staff too. Complimentary valet is really nice. Some rooms are quite small but the beds are great so it's not that big of a deal. We've stayed there 4 times and always have a good experience.

Love the connection to shops and food. The location is amazing for walking too. Parking is a smidge tough. This place has a front row seat to the lake and views. The staff have been kind and attentive. Rooms are clean and furnished to my expectation. The lobby has coffee out in the morning with a few snacks and ice water in the evening.

Historic hotel meets an updated shopping experience! First time staying and was blown away by the awesome history and wonderful hometown shopping with quaint boutique shops with local fare. Dog friendly also! Right on the lake. Had dinner at the Boat House and the food was handmade and absolutely delicious! Plus the view of the lake was breath-taking! Then spent some time at the spa and had one the best message I have ever had! The spa is wonderful. Lunch at the Mexican restaurant before leaving, again, the food was delicious!
