PROS: Keeping in mind it's the oldest diner in NJ the inside looked very nostalgic. It had a lot of memorabilia dating back over the decades ranging from sports to the military. The menu was extensive with great prices and the food tasted great! You can either sit at a table or talk to the very charming owner who's heavily involved in the community. CONS: The place is small and the tables weren't that clean. The chairs are ripped up and I didn't see a bathroom. They're only open till 3pm as well. OVERALL: This is a great place to eat when you want to grab a quick bite to eat. I suggest the burger for lunch and have a nice chat with the owner cause he's the reason for why the diner is very community oriented

I knew as soon as my family stepped foot inside this diner that I was going to love this place and I wasn’t wrong. Lou greeted us at the door and made us feel welcome immediately. He was cracking jokes with my kids and invited me to walk around the small diner to look at all the memorabilia. I’d need a full week to digest everything that is on the walls! It’s amazing inside. The food was pretty decent and the prices were fair. But, if I were to come back it wouldn’t necessarily be for the food, it’d be for Lou and to hang out in this legendary diner. It was filled with regulars that pour their own coffee and joke around. At the end of our meal, Lou gave us all a handful of chocolate chips and gave my son some baseball cards that were sitting behind the counter because I told him that he’s a big baseball fan. I will 100% go back!

A true to form diner!! The owner stays very engaged with staff and guests, and cares intensely about what he puts on the plate. The food is terrific and a great value!! You find a group of guests all happy and interacting. Almost surreal for a restaurant these days. Family owned and operated, their passion for good food and service is evident. We LOVE eating here!!!!

Dumont Crystal Diner is a charming little breakfast spot that exceeded all my expectations. Located just minutes away from where I live, this old-fashioned, small, and cozy diner quickly became a favorite of mine. From the moment we walked in, the friendly owner (Lotfi) welcomed us with a warm smile and made us feel right at home. We ordered a variety of breakfast items, including eggs, pancakes, and a BLT sandwich. The food arrived promptly, and let me tell you, it was absolutely delicious. The eggs were cooked to perfection, the pancakes were fluffy and flavorful, and the BLT was packed with fresh ingredients. Every bite was a delight. What impressed me the most was the speed of service. Despite the diner being small and cozy, we didn't have to wait long for our food. The affordability of Dumont Crystal Diner is also worth mentioning. The prices were reasonable considering the generous portions and high-quality ingredients. It's refreshing to find a place that offers excellent food without breaking the bank. Our experience at Dumont Crystal Diner was amazing, and we’ll definitely be returning. The friendly owner, attentive service, fast food preparation, and delicious breakfast options make it a top-notch dining destination. If you're in the area and craving a nostalgic breakfast experience, don't hesitate to visit Dumont Crystal Diner. You won't be disappointed!

The classic New Jersey diner. It has been here for decades previously owned by Mo. The guy who takes care of it now is a really good guy and we visited a couple years ago. Lots of good humor. A good hometown classic

Food, atmosphere, and service was great. The owner was very friendly and personable as well. I would've given this place 4 stars but make sure you always get a physical copy of the receipt prior to paying because they may try to overcharge you.

I travel to Dumont from Pennsylvania to visit my sister and it's a must to stop here at least once during my visit. Very relaxed atmosphere and great food. Lou isn't a cook, he's a chef and has a great personality.

If you're looking for genuine diner vibes, this place is it. Hailing as the oldest diners in Bergen county and one of the oldest in NJ, this diner has it all. The food is amazing (decently priced too) and the service is straightforward. The chef Lou is hilarious and a diner food champion. The vibes of the decor and seating embody a traditional diner. I love it here and I will come back when I visit the area again. I highly recommend the blueberry pancakes and the waffle house omelette (w/ home fries on the side) as pictured :)

This diner is not a modern one, but is an old railroad car style that's developed a lot of character over the years. The owner is passionate about local town history and in a slower moment will happily show you old town pictures. The walls are covered with an interesting combination of photos of famous celebrities, and sports memorabilia.

Great place for a number of reasons. It’s a family-owned business. The owner of the diner cooks the food and it’s good, he ensures customers are taken care of, he is friendly and has a great sense of humor. The first time we went there, he greeted us with with a sense of belonging. Final note, prices are great!
