Stopped by this place twice in one week because the food was great. They had good portions and the koolaid was good, although I only got a sample because the cup is filled with more ice than juice. The main complaint is the service. The older lady at the counter was very unpleasant both times I visited. No greeting, real snarky, and mean. I attempted to smile and interact with her and she was not having it. That kinda disappointed me because the atmosphere give soulful, laid back, and place I could really vibe to and dine in frequently. Just didn't feel I'd want to because of the bad customer service. **Update. I tried this place once more to see if I was tripping last week and I wasn't. They rude AF. Not welcoming at all. I'd give 0 stars if I could. I got some baked fish and dude gave me 1/2 piece of fish and half of a half of piece of fish and told the lady charge me for 2 pieces. Prices aren't listed and she never gives a receipt. They just charge whatever the feel like charging. Gave my plate away because the vibes were so ugly in there. I lost my appetite.

Updateas of November 2023- Still amazing. Them fried lamb chops are A SITUATION!!!! And that cabbage was amazing!!! Good food. Had the turkey chops. Would definitely recommend! Definitely will be a repeat customer.

1st time here, and it felt like HOME!!! The food was on POINT!!! So tasty and savory. The catfish was EVERYTHING!!! I had mac 'n cheese and green beans as my sides...WHEW!!! So good!!!! The lady at the register was so sweet to my son and I. I truly felt like I was at home. I'll definitely be going back very soon.

First time here, and I got the smoked oxtails with purple hull peas and candy yams. The oxtails were tender but nothing that blew my socks off. The peas and yams were not seasoned well, which made this plate not worth $34 dollars and change. First impressions are always the best, so I probably will not go back.

Oxtail Fridays!!! Smoked or smothered...both are amazing! I tried yams, greens (FYI they are spicy), cabbage, and Mac n cheese (so good). I also had some peach cobbler (had to stop from eating it all). The place is big, clean, and looks newly renovated. Service was great.y friend and I truly enjoyed our lunch break. We will be back!! Kudos to the chef! Amazing food.

The worst customer service ever!! I will never go back. First of all my chicken wasn’t done. I had to make a trip from Desoto to Duncanville to get my meal replaced and you wouldn’t take a call in order from me!!! Why not??! My food was already PAID for. Y’all be so quick and ready to tell a customer NO! That didn’t make any sense at all.

I was excited about another black business that I haven’t tried. The experience was horrible. I came the previous day with a friend who forgot their ID so we left without food. Second day we stood in line almost an hour because there’s only one server on the line. Secondly the server is the owner. Thirdly I watched this gentleman handle raw chicken without glove’s several times. DID NOT WASH HIS HANDS afterwards! Then he went on to touch everything on the line that he was serving. Fourth- he drank water from a bottle on the line in front of everyone. When we finally got to checkout he then makes a comment to us because we left the previous day because they turned down our business. I guess we were being reprimanded! I said all that to say, the food is extremely mediocre and not worth the wait. The seasoning is off. Borderline bland. I won’t be back at all! Really disappointed with yet another black business!!!

The wait is kind of a drainer. Several people standing around but only one man was making the plates. Koolaid real good. Fried turkey chop was delicious. Greens and macaroni wasn’t giving .and y’all gotta do better with the rolls
