Really good walk that isn't hard but isn't easy. It's 3kms to the peak, with the first 1km pretty flat sand paths, then the last 3kms is rocky steps and incline. I'm not a super fit bloke, but I was fine. Took us about 3.5 hours up and back with a lunch stop in the middle. It is windy at the top but sheltered on the walk up. There were plenty of kids about 7 and up there when we went, and they seemed to be all good with the walk. Pics are a fair example of what the track is like.

From the car park can walk to Summit of Mount Sturgeon which is moderately hard walk, 3.5km one way. View is great and worth the walk. Can also reach The Piccaninny from here.

Have walked the Mount Sturgeon summit on several occasions but this year completed a dawn hike to watch the sunrise! It was incredible and thoroughly worth the early wake up

This is one of the entry points for Mount Sturgeon / Piccaninny / Mount Abrupt hiking tracks. While other people may suggest otherwise, we personally wanted to go the The Piccaninny (Bainggug) hike and parking here certainly did the trick. There are no facilities available here. The photo that I have posted is taken about 200 m from the car park and this overlooks Mount Sturgeon. The hike was a trying one and please do carry water and better shoes with you. The gravel track is really slippery and pretty steep. From the peak the view is alright.

Small parking place right next to the trail head. The trail is well kept and easy to follow. The Mt Sturgeon Trail is a intermediate hike with some steep parts and a few Rocky sections. The Piccaninny trail splits off the same trail and is a good beginner hike. Some steep sections but nothing technical.

A decent unpacked carpark with good access to the long walks!

👍👍 Wonderful place to visit. Run by volunteers, you couldn't get better service and attention. Make a call in Spring when the wild flowers are in bloom. They have a magic garden around the side and at the back. You won't see better in the wild.
