The café is located inside an old junior high school building that has been converted into comfortable relaxing coves, the Cafe, a whole section of local artists' studios/wares to browse, and small business offices. Love it! The Smiley Cafe has a limited, but tasty, menu for breakfast and lunch, specialty coffees, a good tea selection, smoothies, and bottled drinks. Highly recommend a unique place to chill.

Yes, it’s another exposed beam and brick coffee house…sure they are a dime a dozen but Smiley Cafe is an old school building that is offers office space and shares space with some amazing art that you can purchase. It’s worth a visit.

Yum, yum, yum! The brownies are delicious and so are the ginger snap cookies! I'm not even a gingersnap person. Don't let the prices scare you. $9.00 for 2 brownies? Normally, no. But, sure glad I did. In fact, I am thinking of going back today. The sandwiches with gluten-free bread looked amazing but I wasn't hungry yet. Soon!

Not gonna lie thought this boba place was gonna just be passable but it was quite a pleasant surprise! Be aware though that the boba place is actually on the Northeast corner of College Dr and Main Ave opposite Michel's corner crepes. They have a good menu plus their black pearl boba is on POINT. Really chewy and fresh. Definitely give this place a shot if you're wanting some boba tea 🧋

Had a quick lunch of a sausage Quiche & some Boba tea. Food was amazing, tho the boba could have seen better days, as it was pretty lukewarm, but the Butterfly flower did taste amazing! The art gallery next door was a perfect end to our day in Durango 10/10

A little hidden gem, this cafe offers gluten free baked goods, quiche, grab and go sandwiches and delicious coffee and Boba tea (try the peach). Great spot to enjoy a drink and read a book or chat with friends. Very friendly folks!

Such a cute spot! Yummy drinks and kid friendly. So much history to the building. And if you walk around outside you’ll find some awesome fruit trees and hidden fairy gardens along 3rd ave.

Atmosphere is great. I hang out and work weekly. Good coffee and teas. All baked goods are gluten free. I'm glad they have gluten free options, but my preference would be to options that are not gluten free.

Very cool location with art exhibits and a large local bulletin. The Peruvian mocha was not too sweet, and the sausage quiche was tasty! Highly recommend.

Great location for hanging out with people as it is a very large space and you can spread out easily. The only thing is the location is a little bit weird as the building is not very noticeable on the outside that it is a coffee shop. Great coffee though and the food taste great, especially since it is gluten-free! I’m not gluten-free myself, but it all tastes great:)

Excellent breakfast sandwiches, quiche, coffee, hot cocoa and pastries at great prices in a relaxing atmosphere with great service. Gluten free is an added bonus.

Quiche was delicious. So was the smoothie and I got some GF blueberry muffins to go. So nice to find excellent Gluten Free Options when travelling and this place delivered.

SUPER cool location, best part. great lighting, calm music with comfy furniture and open isolated spaces upstairs. the lady who took our order, was not very friendly.. not welcoming - first impressions matter! the menu was very diverse with drinks and flavors, boba options were super cool but didn’t try. I got a Carmel latte, super good espresso quality but I feel like it’s definitely missing something. my sister got a regular latte and as you can see, our lattes looks VERY different and mine was much more creamy. we would not recommend regular latte, it was made much differently. we got broccoli cheese soup, it was very good the texture was interesting. although didn’t fill the cup :/ then a tomato soup, it was much sweeter than salty or basil tasting. I didn’t like it much personally but filled cup!:) other worker took dishes for us kindly. Overall super a unique place and would return.

Best Boba in town! Wonderful staff, cozy patio outside, and lots of artwork to check out inside!

Situated in a historic junior high building, and co-located with a collective of art studios, the Smiley Cafe is a must stop in Durango. Coffee was excellent, service friendly and efficient, and ambiance will have you relaxing in no time.

Great atmosphere, comfy seating, delicious drinks and food. Baked good are so gluten free. Even the macarons which are so good and have different flavors everyday. They have great food with lots of vegetarian options. Great place to l to hang out, catch up with someone, do some work, or just relax. Make sure your take the time to walk through the area next to it where artists have working areas and also have items for sale!

The Smiley Cafe is a hidden gem in Durango. The coffee is great. I think they use 81301 coffee. The atmosphere is very relaxing and has a good vibe. There are several desks and couches available. They also have some small food options. Overall, I really enjoy coming here to get work done or catch up with friends and clients.

As must for gluten free persons. My friend was ecstatic over all the GF options, muffins, cookies, sandwiches and more. I loved the decaf and spice option on my delicious chai latte. We snagged the couches and watched the kids indulge and enjoy their boba teas. Great spot!

Stopped here with my SO and had no idea it was Inside a private middle school! However we had no issues and it is in fact open to the public 😂 we had their lavender blueberry tea with tapioca and popping blueberry Boba balls. YUMMY! highly recommend you stop by when you're craving some Boba.

This is a very interesting space. There is a coffee shop surrounded by art studio space which functions as an art gallery as well. There are other office spaces as well ranging from healing, yoga, dance, US Senator, the wilderness society and attorneys. There is good parking and the building is near downtown Durango.

The boba choices here are unbelievable! Always delicious, always quick and the setting is one of a kind comfortable and interesting. A MUST visit place in Durango ❤️

What a special place. Such a nice and welcoming local business located in the bottom floor common area of the Smiley Building. The highlight of Smiley Cafe for me has to be the Boba Tea, which includes traditional Thai Boba Tea (my favorite) but also more, for lack of a better word, American-adapted drinks like the Smiley Sunrise which includes Club Soda and popping fruit bubbles. I highly advise coming here if you're in the area (which you most likely will if you come to Durango), just mabye not around noon unless you want to be subjected to the flood of High Schoolers that come here during Open-Campus lunch.

The best cafe in town. I've been waiting patiently for good boba and finally found it, and done right! There's a danger of me spending way too much money and time here but that's ok. Great atmosphere and prices.

We got Boba tea, which is a favorite of ours. The staff are friendly, and helpful. It's a very relaxed atmosphere, with a lot of comfortable seating and tables. We also explored the connected art collaborative, which was nice.

Very nice place to sit and enjoy a coffee and a chat. Tons of seating options, indoor and out, and right next to a space used by local artists, which was full of fun things to see while we waited for our drink and food order. Breve balance was off - bitter bc not enough creme, but their breakfast quesadilla was delicious, and my friend loved her decaf lavender latte

Wow, I want to say that was the best quiche I’ve ever had in my life!! I had the sausage and it was super flavorful and delicious, and the crust was awesome too. Thank you for providing so many gf options!! It’s so rare to find and so appreciated. Yum 😋😋

Whoever the brunette is that wears a tight bun with a mouth piercing and a red flannel was pretty rude. she was extremely impatient and then loudly complains in front of customers how “she hates the make your own boba” okay then maybe you shouldn’t work the checkout? as a manger i would be so embarrassed for my employees to act like that, especially when people are spending a good bit of money.
