I have been to Coastlands many times. This was the worst experience by far. We went for our department Christmas dinner, Friday night Buffet. We paid in excess of R7000. The service was very poor, our drinks took about 2 hours to come, we kept on reminding them. The cocktails were very limited. A variety of a whole 2 cocktails. The tables were full with dishes stacking up, and we also kept on reminding them to clear the table. The food was mediocre, I just enjoyed the chops, and the desserts were really not good at all. They had something like a Malva pudding, but the cake was so dry. I ended up having plain something that tasted like custard. They were overbooked with the Christmas dinners, so they could not keep up with the service. They really need to up their game. People pay a lot of money for their meals, and to get poor service like this is very disappointing. I had to give this review so that they can improve their service.

We had a good stay in September. I don’t know what changed in December. Their service was not what we expected. We called for a toilet paper, and an hour later still nothing. I had to go down to the reception to ask for it. The breakfast wasn’t good this time. Their sausage was not cooked well. We had to ask the waitress if the sausage was cooked and she said she was not sure and will ask the chef and was the last time we heard from her. They are usually good with service but not this time around, and I think that was the last I book a stay there.

Oh, guys. Listen, pictures VS the actual rooms are embellished. I stayed for 3 days, it wasn't a great stay, but it wasn't bad either.... Undecided! 🙄 The breakfast is what one expects at hotels, fully Halaal 🤲☺️ so that's GREAT! No smoking rooms.... The bane of my existence 😂😂 switch my mood completely. However, if it for work and you're in and out, it's doable.

Great hotel. They where still renovating as some of the rooms seemed aged however the management were attentive and listened when I asked to move. I extended my stay on for 3 more nights. Breakfast was great and all the staff were friendly. Be a little weary of the 1st floor as the massage staff can get pretty loud during the day if you intend to rest during the day. If you are a remote worker they are still working on their business center. All in all I had a lovely time here and would only say they need to work on the details a little. I would still stay here again though because the beds were comfy and it is in a very convenient location.

Excellent Hotel. Beautiful set up, and Lovely Rooms. Very Neat. Cleanliness and hygiene standards were excellent. Very friendly & helpful staff. Only issues I had, was a damp smell in the room, and breakfast was not great. There's a variety on the menu, but the quality, taste and flavors of the breakfast did not meet my expectation. Apart from those 2 issues, we had a really great stay at this hotel.

Attended a function that was being held at the Coastlands, I must say that there was a very big improvement in the parking situation as they have newly built a massive parkade to allow for more guests, however I must say that they double booked 2 events being held at the conference rooms and this caused a major traffic build up! They should consider not to double book events to avoid traffic and elevator congestion. There was no outside caterer allows and The food was not so good at all. They should consider letting outside caterers come or they should get better chefs, food was disgusting to be honest. The coffee area at the reception is nice and there's a nice lounge to relax and have what you want.

It was an absolutely bad experience, I took my wife to the buffet for her birthday and the food was way below average, we paid R330pp but ate for under R100,the food looked old and stale,it had absolutely no flavor. We asked the chef to grill us some prawns the look on his face was like he didn't want to. The deserts were dry and stale it was just a horrible experience and I will not make the same mistake twice.

Beautiful hotel. Stunning rooms. Amazing customer service. I even used the spa while there. Just loses 1 star on the location as it can be a mission to get out and turn right. Also there's not much of a view

They exceeded my expectations. I’ve lived in Durban for almost all my life and have driven pass this hotel on a few occasions but had never been inside before. The staff is friendly and polite. The food is amazing and the rooms are exquisite. I had a magical moment last weekend where my fiancé proposed at this beautiful place. I will definitely come back even if it’s just for lunch.

Went for a Christmas lunch buffet with family, and they absolutely exceeded my expectations. The food was great, wonderful and delicious options to choose from. The live performance was a cherry on top. We had loads of fun

We had the Buffet last night and must say it was absolutely delicious. 10 out of 10 for everything. The best value for money in Durban for sure! We will be back for the Seafood buffet over the weekend...Keep up the great work folks!

Attended a conference Service was superb except for tea time Better attention to detail as chicken and cheese/jalapeno popped were mixed in same dish. I am a strict vegetarian and i felt disrespected by mixing. Especially as i had asked prior to taking eats and a hostess confirmed cheese and jalapeno. Training of hostesses to understand dietary habits. And attention to detail when plating of eats . A food allergy could have hsve dire consequences Overall great service as always A plus is the new entry and exits helps safety

For me, it was the worst experience. From staff attitude at the reception to the room they gave me. Could literally hear kitchen / cleaning ladies talking through my window at 05h00. I have had better experiences with hotels 🚮🚮

This is without a doubt an amazing location and the staff are very friendly. However we did attend an event there and the staff repeatedly cleared plates before we were done eating. There is also something to be said about the alcohol being served here. I don't know what it is, but I didn't enjoy a drink which I frequently have. That is Jameson and Appetiser, it just wasn't the same here for some reason.

Wow 👌 what a good experience, the place is spotless, clean everything is on point, no noise, nice breakfast. Everything was so perfect 🥰

Rooms are comfortable. Very good linen and pillows. Bathroom door is a problem especially when sharing with kids. The sandblasted glass door has an opening on the bottom which becomes a privacy issue. Aircon worked but was very noisy. Early morning had music playing in the corridor speakers which disturbed my sleep.

The room we had was good, spacious and comfortable but only one plug worked. The room my colleague had was older and she said it was a little worse for wear, but overall a comfortable and pleasant stay.

Centrally located in Durban close to restaurants, beaches, harbour and other attractions that Durban has to offer. The room had a balcony with table n chairs to chill whilst overlooking the harbour. Room was neat but furniture n carpet, n TV needs upgrades. Shower n toilet neatly tiled n well ventilated. Had a bar fridge n kettle with tea n coffee provided.

Rating the Spa. Service and staff manners are good, Just disappointed by the setup of the Spa operation. Cleaning and sorting of hotel towels are being done in a open room next to the nail bar. Maintenence and renovations are being done, so there's no Peace and Tranquility of what a Spa is supposed to offer you.

Pretty filthy and run down with unfriendly and unhelpful staff. There’s really old furniture that’s damaged. The outside area is pretty gross too with stuff laying all over the floors and damaged faded furniture. Better off spending your money elsewhere as it can get pricy too (spent north of R7k for three nights). Side note they start preparing at dinner at 3pm so if you want to get something to eat you’ll have to sit outside even if it’s cold or raining or eat on your lap on the stained and gross couches next to the bar.

I joined my colleagues to experience the Sunday buffet at 315 Restaurant to celebrate a bridal shower. The venue looks great, the parking is secure, and the staff is incredibly welcoming and friendly, BUT, the flies. Oh, the flies! They are everywhere! Buzzing around you at the table, buzzing AND SETTLING on the food in the open chafing dishes and exposed desserts. It was extremely disturbing. Besides that, the atmosphere was great and the experience was very well priced. The outside area is also really nice, we were able to get lovely pictures. Overall, I would recommend the place only when I am certain that the fly issue is being looked into.

Upon arrival the staff were friendly and welcoming. They guided us from the parking and even escorted us to the reception. The building is absolutely beautiful when lit up at night.

Reception staff very pleasant. I needed a last minute single occupancy room for one night with breakfast: the rate was reasonable, the bed comfortable and the room neat and clean though it's getting a bit tired (a couple of scuffs and cigarette burns on wooden furniture. Nice ambience to reception and restaurant. All in all, good vfm.

I've stayed here before last year for about 2 months, my experience then was good. However this time my stay was unpleasant. For starters parking is still an issue due to ongoing construction, which I kind of understand. Before I start saying all the negative things, let me just say the staff is amazing and they made the experience a little bit better. Check-in was easy and simple, cleaning staff was amazing as always. Now for the bad parts. On 2 separate occasions we found cockroaches in our room, it was unnerving when the staff didn't seem surprised, and I was told that fumigation was done not so long ago. This made me worry because I started thinking about the kitchen cleanliness as I frequently order room service. Secondly on one of the days I woke up to no hot water, you can imagine how frustrating that is to happen in a hotel like coastlands Musgrave. So I have to say this time I was very disappointed with the hostel and I did not receive value for money. With that being said all the other things were great, the bed was comfortable, it was nice and quiet most of the time except when there was construction. I'd definitely go back but I hope next time I get a better experience, otherwise that will be my last visit.

I had a great weekend at this hotel, from arrival the porter was friendly. At reception we got a warm welcome. The rooms were clean. I would like to extend my gratitude to Zama and Sinothile they were so kind(waitresses). I would come back for their service

Looking for accommodation or a place to host a business meeting? Coastlands, Musgrave is central, convenient (public & private transport). Staff are very accommodating to tailor a package for a business meeting. We had our annual staff meeting in a conference room on the 6th floor, Our welcome tea, mid-break tea & lunch were served to us in the same venue (due to a large number of staff - 65) Had a wonderful experience overall

First room I was given had mold against the wall at my bed. They have changed my room to a much smaller room, but with no mold that I was grateful for. You do not get milk sachets in the room, only powder milk sachets. There are no spoons available for dinner, breakfast or in the rooms. The room are also noisy. I also had to pay an additional cost for a cappuccino t breakfast, but can have coffee with milk at no charge, this does not make sense. Have stayed at better hotels at this rate.

The function was amazing Rotary Woman's Day however the food was not worthy of the function also the service. The hotel served breakfast scrambled eggs sauages potatoes and baked beans food was bland very little flavor no taste also not much of veg options no matter how the place looks if the food standard is not up to mark, it always leaves a bad taste of the the entire function. This must improve in the future.

Coastlands Musgrave Hotel was very kind to us. It was a anniversary celebration and the person who decorated our table did a very fantastic job. We went for the weekday buffet which is affordable and was absolutely delicious with various starters to choose from. The mains was had only 1 meat to choose from but desserts covered that up! Thank you Coastlands we are coming back soon

Beautiful hotel, Definitely recommend! Stunningly designed spacious and airy rooms with views of Durban city and the harbor are just the cherry on top!! Amazing cuisine available at the restaurant (which is fully halaal of course) especially the breakfast buffet! Definitely worth it!Options are endless and meals are scrumptious!! Room service is excellent! Staff and management at Coastlands Musgrave are super friendly so vibrant and always ready to assist..always welcomed with a warm smile which makes our stay extra special! We also had the greatest pleasure in meeting the Director who is so humble and hands on with ensuring that the spectacular ambience his hotel offers is maintained!! He Definitely goes the extra mile..we admire that!! This hotel is our go to place-home away from home... great stay! Would give this hotel 20 stars if I could

My family and I had a wonderful experience at Coastlands Musgrave. We booked for the Sunday lunch and it did not disappoint. Food and desserts were laid out in a beautiful manner. Restaurant was very clean and the waiters were attentive. The manager on duty for the day was most helpful. I did find the roast lamb a bit on the more well done side...but other than that I would definitely recommend this place.

Awful hotel, they did not advise that they were under going construction. When I tried requesting a room further away from the noise, they wanted to charge me an additional R250 per night - I booked 3 rooms so this would mean an additional R2000! Also their "courtyard" rooms face the stairwell and construction site. I would advise against staying here there are better hotels in this price range. In addition the rooms were not cleaned properly.

Thus place is horrible.... the pictures on the website are nothing like what we found. The furniture is worn out, the are burns in the already very dirty carpet. The toilet flush system didn't work properly. We then upgraded our room hoping maybe it would be different...but it turned out to be a waste of money. With more problems... I can go on... it was horrible.

The venue and location is super cool. I liked the outside setup to chill. It's a bit pricey.. The buffet didn't have much of a variety where seafood is concerned. Lamb curry was divine. Neat and spacious... Fancy setup inside. I was frustrated with renovations taking place and we were inconvenienced with our parking on the upper floor... Had to use stairs with my injured leg.

This Hotel provides Excellent Services!!! The room was so classy & sophisticated! Even the staff are all so friendly & always helpful! The restaurant services is also excellent & the food is good, great ambiance. We also had the privilege of meeting the Director who is so down to earth & hands on with ensuring that all services offered is well maintained. We admired that!!! Well Done guys! Will definitely be coming back for another stay!!! Lots of Love Mr & Mrs. Naidoo

The management and employees are quite pleasant and helpful. The buffet selection is excellent; but, the regular menu is limited, and additional vegetarian options would be welcome. Rooms are spotless and well-kept.

Was at Coastlands Musgrave utilising the conference facilities for approximately 200 guests. The facility was excellent in terms of decor, visual and sound aids. The parking facilities is still under construction 🏗 with a lack of proper signage as to how to get from the parking to the venue, however I'm sure once the renovations are complete, this will be a non issue. Well done to the Management and staff of the Hotel for prompt and efficient service throughout the event 👏

Nice big rooms, comes with a bar fridge, shower and toiletries. Added bonus u get free bottled water. Rooms are kitted with a kettle, coffee, tea, sugar and powdered milk. I usually stay here when in Durban. Unfortunately on this stay there was a pageant hosted. And it was absolutely unbearable on a Sunday evening. As the other guests were singing and making lots of noise until midnight. Calling reception to assist made no difference. The rest of the stay was pleasant no further issues.

😐 Had to try Solly Manjra as a Durban favorite. It is extremely popular and busy with a continuous turn over of people. I was however disappointed with the taste of my veg breyani. The soji is like wedding soji but quite expensive.
