I almost don’t want to write this review because it would get busier, but it is definitely well earned. The ambiance is great, the food is fantastic, and the bakery offers a wide variety of delicious treats and my favorite beers. If we lived closer we’d come here regularly but it’s worth the trek. We stopped for brunch which was only outdoor seating but they had heaters in the patio which made it comfortable. I do recommend checking how busy they are here on google first before going. When it’s busy parking is tricky and there can be a long wait.

This was my first time here, having been invited by a friend. The atmosphere is incredibly inviting and relaxing. It’s quaint and classy yet casual. They offer several German options but also a spattering of American foods as well. Pricing is a little higher than your average restaurant but the atmosphere, service and quality food make it well worth it! The bakery was closed before we arrived so I can’t review that. However, the friend (who’s native home is Germany) that invited me said they have a great selection of breads and pasties. I definitely plan to go back and try other dishes!

This place reminded me of a German Cafe we visited a few years ago in Austria. The outdoor seating is quite picturesque of an authentic German restaurant in Bavaria. The food is delicious and served by pleasant waitstaff. Instructions are posted on accessing your utensils, drink additives and condiments. Great variety of food fare to please the hungry, the Vegan, the gluten-free and healthy choices person. Wide variety of beverages from teas and coffees to cold brews and crafts. Indoor and very spacious outdoor seating with natural plants and attractive overhead cover included with fans to lower the temperature when outdoor dining. Very busy for brunch. A plus is the bakery to take home some scrumptious delicacies after dining.

I love this place, both for lunch/brunch and for coffee. The atmosphere is wonderful, I love the inside for working while having some coffee and the outside if I am there with a group of friends and the weather is nice. Their bakery items are so unique, especially the cheese danish is to die for. They have really good quality espresso drinks as well which is surprising considering they are specializing in so many other things. I love their almond-orange blossom syrup in my latter and their new raspberry dulce drink. Their eggs benedict are really good as well. Most importantly, prices are quite reasonable. This place is a must-try!!

This place has a great European vibe with it's quirky outdoor patio. The food was very good. however there is no proper table service. You order, pay and tip at a window and they bring the food and drink to your table, but that's it. No one asking you if you need anything else or if you would like your soda refilled. You can grab iced tap water and silverware from a table. If you come here just to get some yummy bakery goods, come early. At 3pm the bakery was almost depleted. Parking can be a problem during busy times.

What a wonderful gem! The food was incredible, the decor is beautiful, and the service was great. I highly recommend checking this Bakery and Cafe out! They have many options on their menu. I also love a vegetarian friendly place!

A good place to have brunch. I ordered salmon that was my favorite choice. I extremely like the bakery here. I got passion fruit coconut danish in the photos that made me want to go back in the near future. How tasty it is! It’s a big, fresh and unforgettable flavor. I could not find this kind of Danish somewhere in Cary or Raleigh.

Went recently with friends on a Sunday around 10:45. The place was busy with a long line to order but plenty of seats were available once you got your food. The drinks were amazing and the food was good (fries and bakery items were great, breakfast sandwich was a bit dry IMO). Provided water bowls for dogs. It had a wonderful atmosphere to sit and hang w friends or kids while sipping on your favorite beverage. We will be back.

This is a Durham must! It can be quite busy during brunch on the weekend, but I’ve always been able to find a seat. The food here is unique and delicious and the baked goods (especially the cream puffs) are to die for! They have indoor and outdoor seating and self serve water/utensils. Note that some seating is upstairs

We went to this restaurant/cafe arriving around 11:30 a.m. on Saturday after Thanksgiving, and I had to wait about 5 minutes for someone to open up a parking spot. There is a bakery, cafe, and a restaurant. The restaurant has a line for which you can order actual food. Otherwise for bakery items and coffee, you could just order those without waiting in line. We got the gingerbread latte, the artichoke and feta pastry, the pumpkin pastry, and the cream cheese pastry. These are all wonderful (8/10), light and flaky, not overly rich, and not overly sweet. Prices were about $5 per piece, and the coffee was $6 each. We got three to share among two people. You may sit anywhere in the restaurant area no matter what you get, so we went upstairs in the inside area. The staff are very friendly and available. The atmosphere, style, and decorations are lovely and European, warm and industrial and natural too. They do have some Christmas decorations too. Service I don't have much to comment, because we went to the bakery and the cafe separate from the restaurant. Nice place for chats over breakfast or brunch.

We went for brunch. The food was good, especially the breads and desserts from the bakery. The service was great. The atmosphere was wonderful and unique. The only complaint was that they were out of a couple of different things we requested from the menu, but we would still recommend the restaurant and bakery.

Guglhupf is a really popular place to go for breakfast, coffee, brunch, lunch, dinner and beer! ANYTIME is a good time here! I came here for Sunday brunch and it was CROWDED! But, the line moved quickly. The patio is SO spacious and FUN to hang out! It's a great place for all ages. We had pancakes, bacon, croissants, danishes, muffins and brezels! Everything was really delicious. I highly recommend Guglhupf!

Just happened to stumble across this place while at the used book store, and let me say it has been one of the best German meals I have had in such a long time. The staff were all very professional and courteous, and the soft lighting and small intimate space set the perfect mood. The beer was amazing and complimented my meal very well. I cannot speak highly enough of this place, do your self a favor and stop by!

Brunch for 8, and sat outside in February thanks to great heaters & blankets placed on metal chairs. Fresh air, great company and great food & beer Order at the outside counter, get a number and find a seat. Large parties, like ours may have trouble one 1st or 2nd floor. Luck for us, no rain and ample outside space was climate controlled. Kippered Salmon, Ruebens, eggs, danish and other dishes were tasty - No plates left with food in them. 😏 YUM. Really great time and wonderful staff. Restrooms are ADA compliant, wheelchairs enter from patio and roll down hill. Full bar, wine & draft local & German beers. And the bakery attached, has such a great variety of foods z- dropped more $ on breads & pastry.

The fish sandwich was delicious. It was pan seared salmon which was so juicy. The atmosphere is also so cute and it would be a great brunch or lunch spot with friends. I like to take my friends from NY here. Don’t forget to stop inside their bakery shop either!

I enjoyed my eggs Benedict! My partner was not a huge fan of the smokey flavor of the salmon but it was a generous portion and a beautifully presented spread. The chai was also delightful. The outdoor seating experience made us feel comfortable and confident about dining out during covid.

I drive an hour to get here because the food is so good! You can enjoy fresh, European-style baked goods and treats, a gourmet meal, or savor an excellent coffee or tea. The service is wonderful, and there are plenty of seating options. I particularly enjoy the outdoor seating at this restaurant and it amplifies the experience of eating authentic German foods.

I'd been told Guglhupf had really good German food. Being half German, 1st generation, and neing in the area, I thought I'd check it out....I was not terribly impressed. I got the grilled bratwurst and potato salad and a spiced caramel apple Cider. Cider was good; potatoes didn't have much flavor, especially since the menu said potatoes with beef broth. The brat came with sauerkraut and Duesseldorf mustard. There was no mustard, so I had to go find a server and ask. She said it was supposed to come on the side....she did go and get me some. The table was dirty, I had to clean it off as did the people who sat at the table next to me. You order at a window and pay. Then they bring the food to the table. I added a 15% tip when I ordered someone to take my order and bring my food. But that's where the service ends. I kinda feel I overpaid on the tip, and the food was not terribly impressive! With tip, I paid $30.91. Not sure it was worth what I paid!!

This place is an absolute gem. The food is amazing, the beer is cold and delicious and the baked goods are to die for! My wife had the schnitzel with mushroom gravy and spaetzle and I had the wurst plate, the schnitzel was gigantic, perfectly breaded and fried to perfection, the spaetzle is authentic and has the perfect bite to it. Both of the wurst have such a rich flavor it's hard to describe. The service is prompt and attentive. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!! Stop by and have a bite, you won't regret it! We drive over an hour just for this place.

This is a very cool restaurant that I just discovered recently. They have a really neat atmosphere with indoor and outdoor seating. A great selection of food, beer and coffee. We had a party of 5 and everyone tried something different. Everyone loved their selections. Don't forget to stop by the bakery on your way out - the danishes are to die for!!!

Having lived in 🇩🇪this establishment took me back! From the bakery, Biergarten, and restaurant it was very enjoying! The Schnitzel tasted just like I remember it, tender and juicy with a perfect breading. The Flammkucken was delicious too, the only difference here was the thickness of the bread. I recall it thinner and crispy. Nonetheless still very 😋 When you need a 🇩🇪 pick me up, pick Guglhupf! Tschüss

Aesthetically pleasing area! Stunning interior and just as stunning from outside with plenty of seating and outdoor decor/plants. There are two floors to be exact inside, can order from outside window before going in. The bakery is off to the side of the cafe!

Absolutely delicious! It’s a bit confusing if you are a first timer. It’s busy, folks are hustling about, so you seat yourself then go to the counter to order. There’s indoor and outdoor seating, several folks there outside with their pups. We had a large table of 8 and everyone’s food was well plated and delicious.

The outdoor biergarten is delightful. Shady and pleasant even on a hot summer day. We had the pork schnitzel and the wurst plate with red cabbage and spaetzle. Both very good. We will be back!

What an awesome place!! The decor is super unique and I liked the very open design of the dining area. I had the pork Schnitzel and it was super crispy! I also went inside the bakery and got a black forest (?) macaron and let me tell you- that was the most delicious macaron I’ve had… EVER. Definitely a great place to sit down and hang out with some friends!

The wife found this gem online and I went in not knowing anything about the place. The restaurant is unique in a great way. We loved the order window setup and outdoor seating! The guy at the counter had great people skills and helped us out for our first time. She got the the potato tart which tastes just like if you ordered it in the Bavarian country side! I got the lamb doner which is so far….the best I’ve had anywhere on the planet! The ingredients were fresh and more importantly local and outstanding quality! My plate is empty in the photo because it was so good, I sucked it down like a vacuum lol

The ambience outside and the spacious outdoor areas were inviting. There was a very strong smell of some bleach or chemical as soon as we entered the cafe that put us off from ordering anything. Probably a one off incident. Hope the management will note this and maybe use a plant based cleaner for their needs. Will try it again next time.

I loved this place! The ambience was so lovely at night, especially on a fall evening. You order at the window and take a seat for yourself, and the options for dinner were amazing. I believe they do have gluten free options for those that need it! I got the schweine snitzel with vegetable soup and it really hit the spot! We also ordered an appetizer of various french, swiss, and Spanish cheese (which came with nuts and dried fruit). The cheeses were so good, will def come here for brunch sometime to try their pastries and cake items :))

Interesting place, nice atmosphere, food is good for the most part. The jelly donuts were amazing! Lamb donor was great, with good amount of food. Pancakes and fruit were good, the swabian potato salad and breakfast sasuage were not.
