In all my years of travel I have never canceled a reservation the day of because the check in process was such a nightmare. First major red flag was when I made five separate phone calls the day prior trying to alert them that I was bringing a pet (the website said I had to give 24 hrs notice). I ended up calling the corporate number and they couldn’t even get them on the line. Told me the phones were down. Day of I tried to call to see about early check in. Same thing. No answer. We pull in and the hotel is NOTHING like the pictures on Google. Absolute dump. I walk into the lobby and the first thing I noticed was I could hear the phone ringing. The girl at the desk was sitting there playing on her phone just letting it ring. I also noticed a sign informing me there was an additional $50 deposit I would have to make to check in. That was not mentioned at all during the booking process or on any of my confirmation emails. I asked about check in. She said that they couldn’t do early check in but then told me to come back in an hour (which was still before 3pm). Told me I should have called first. I explained that I had tried to multiple times (while the phone is still ringing) and she proceeded to tell me they were short staffed and if she wasn’t working with a customer she was helping housekeeping. She also said she wasn’t there the day before so it “wasn’t me”. I asked if I could speak to a manager and she told me there wasn’t one there until 3. We have stayed at multiple Red Roof Inns and have never had an issue. This is unacceptable. With the condition of the building and the behavior of the staff I did not feel comfortable staying there at all. We went down the street and made a reservation at the Hilton. Stay there instead. We started reading these reviews when we got to our new hotel and were horrified. I believe every single one of them after what we just experienced! Feel like we dodged a bullet! Whew!

On entering assigned room, I found a trash full of fast food, dirty linens on floor, and a half made bed. I was given a new room after bringing this to the attention of office staff (lost my king mattress for a full in the process). Room was mostly clean but did smell like smoke despite being a non-smoking property. I observed several guests smoking on site as this policy is not enforced. Warm water available but shower did not drain at all -standing in pool of water after 1-2min. Was concerned for my property after receiving comments from late night loiterers. Neighbors were loud. Basically a low tier motel 6. Wish I'd slept in car or spent more to go somewhere nicer. This is the middle ground where you lose on both ends

DO NOT STAY HERE. Worst management and corporate response to an incident. This hotel is a PIG in a DRESS. Room had been used, but then bed simply "made". Black Mold in shower (see photos), AC unit was moldy. All the rooms were the same. Front desk simply said, it's my last night working here, and I would have to talk to management/corporate. I went all the way up the chain, tossed around, and I was finally told the case is closed and nothing will be done.

Rooms appear to be clean, but there are critters in the rooms. The hotel will not refund you for the roaches which is disappointing. I wanted to give a cheap motel a try but NEVER again! The deal was definitely too good to be true. There are numerous 100% Smoke Free signs up but residents were smoking like chimneys!! I smelled cigarettes and weed the entire 2 hours I was there. Why not force the people to smoke in their cars or 50ft (or whatever the legal limit is) away from the building? The rooms look to have been remodeled. Unfortunately, they did not spray for pests. They moved me from room to room but guess what .... roaches in one room indicate roaches in ALL rooms. I refused to sleep there and lost a few hundred bucks on this "deal" ... the employees were nice enough. The manager at the hotel was rude when asked about the situation.

The staff members were nice. The hotel was disgusting. My room smelled like an ash tray because smoking is allow. The guest walked around knocking on doors, intoxicated, and asking for money. I believe some of the guest live there. I didn't feel safe at all. The light hung in the bathroom by the wires. There was mold in the grout in the shower. This place is a short drive to Duke but not within walking distance. Beware, do not stay here! I have pictures and video of everything that I would love to post.

They've got roaches to start with. Secondly, the hot water went out in my room the morning of checkout and the front desk lady talking to me like it's my problem. Mold and rust all around the bathtub, don't even think of taking a shower. Vent in bathroom didn't work so get ready for humidity out the wazoo. There was gum remnants stuck to the bedsheets. I'm never coming back man, it's not a pleasant experience at all. The room was number 217, avoid it like the plague.

I had an early appointment at Duke and chose to get a hotel room since I live a ways away. The man at the front desk was very nice and helpful. The place is pretty no frills, but it was clean and I felt safe. Honestly the only real downside of the room was that there was no curtain besides the blackout curtain, so it was all or nothing as far as letting some natural light in.

This was the second time within a week that I booked a Red Roof Inn last minute (literally) after another hotel's reservation failing/falling short. But the front desk here was professional, polite, knowledgeable, friendly, well-dressed/well-groomed, and helpful when I was in a bind. Then the room was clean, comfy, quiet, and thoughtfully-set. Plus, good parking options, single-serve coffee machines in the room, and an outdoor elevator that actually works. I'm my booking somewhere else didn't work out. I wish I had picked this place first. I would 100% recommend and would stay here again for sure.

I’m posting about Red Roof Inn on N. Pointe Dr. Since I wasn’t at a 5 star motel I didn’t expect amenities and found this place to be quite suitable. It was near Duke Hospital which was the reason for our stay. The lady at front desk was new and did a great job with help from her co worker. Both were amicable and helpful. We were placed at end unit close to I-85. Literally a stones throw away so I figured it was going to be a noisy night. I couldn’t hear anything once I went inside and closed the door. It was clean and had the basics like soap and shampoo, ironing board, fridge. It had more than we needed it for. There were no bugs. And it’s close to fast food and convenience stores and in a good area where I wasn't overly concerned about my safety. I have left places before because of feeling uneasy. I would not hesitate to stay there again. The price was more affordable for our budget compared to the others I saw online and they deserve a heads up.

Don't judge a book by its cover here. The rooms were redone. Very clean. Mini-fridge. Microwave. Safe. Cold AC. Clean shower and bathroom. King size bed. If I was gonna a complain, I wish the sheets were softer and pillows better.

The best part of my stay was the location of the hotel. Upon extending my stay there was a storm that rolled through the area and knocked out all power and lights. The following morning the housekeeping staff knocked on my door and asked "Are you checking out or paying?" I went to the front desk to inquire if I would be reimbursed or accommodated for the night stay without Electricity, A/C or any other accommodations a guest was supposed to receive. At the front desk I was told "It is a Natural Disaster and there's nothing I can do!" My reply to the front desks snarky comment was "I thought hotels would have emergency backup generators to at least ensure that the guests wouldn't loose there perishable refrigerated grocery items?." To which, I was simply given a shrug of the shoulders and told I can check out. I do not feel as though the hotel, staff and/ or management and owners care about the guests that stay at their hotel/ establishment. There is no way a descent and respectable human being would charge guests for a 2 nights of Stay without Power or A/C in this North Carolina heat. The new owner/ manager Mrs. Rema refused to offer a Complimentary night stay, discount or assistance. Many times from her mouth the words "Well, what do you want me to do?" uttered from her lips. Honestly, I regret ever staying there. My spouse was coerced into writing a google review directly after check-in without even participating in the stay. If it's just $30 difference between Red Roof Inn and somewhere else. That $30 extra pays for generosity, consideration, hospitality and understanding; because those key elements are missing at this particular location. I DO NOT recommend staying at this hotel, even if they're trying to swap out new furniture and paint. A can of paint and paint brushes cannot cover up the emotional and mental abuse that was endured during my stay.

Upon checking in, we go to our room and the area seemed a bit sketchy, glad I had my husband and my big dog with me. It is very well lit at night. Walked in and it smelled like the disc things that go in the urinals! Room looked ok...damage that was painted over around the door frame.....just really don't ok now how the vanity area and bathroom got cleaned properly without lights!!! Had to put the lamp in the bathroom to use the toilet and to shower. It was late when we realized this, but we informed at checkout. Front desk wasn't apologetic, just wrote it down. A/C was cold but there was a gap on the side that let in warm air and could let bugs in too. The beds were really comfy! The best part was how close it was to the hospital and local restaurants. Will spend the extra $40-50 and go somewhere else.

Experience here was not good. Checked in yesterday to go up to a dirty room someone was using. Then went to office and got another room and the same thing happened again. After that finally got a room and settled in. Left the next day for work. Came to motel after 14 hour shift and asked to make sure the room was clean. Guy at the front desk says yes it cleaned today. Cane to room didn't have no new towels to shower with nor wash cloths. Not a good place to stay.

Definitely a no frills older motel! It is next to the expressway so there is constant traffic noise, The rooms are super basic and not the cleanest...but I have seen worse. It served its purpose for the night but if you're looking for comfort and quiet you may want to reconsider staying here.

Basics were fine. Comfortable bed, clean bathroom. Very few of the amenities I've found previously with Red Roof. Would help to invest in bigger, softer towels and hair dryers and maybe in-room coffee makers.

Good: Customer service was excellent from start to finish. I spoke to Griselda on the phone a couple of times before check-in and she was just as helpful and patient in person. It's located right by everything, basically. It's conveniently placed by gas, restaurants, shopping, and even grocery. The rooms were okay. They were clean and everything worked as it should. Good A/C, plenty of lighting. No pests, which was HUGE for me. The bed was comfortable.

My spouse and I relocated to the area because of a spell of bad luck and had to check in to the hotel. The night auditor who checked us in was extremely helpful on the phone prior to our arrival and upon arrival friendly, efficient and respectful. Without hesitation we extended our stay the following morning and was pleasantly surprised with the Ladies working front Desk. Their smile, attitude and enthusiasm painted a overcast of positive vibes over what would normally be a Hot Humid NC Monday. Lastly, the rooms are extremely well maintained and cleaned. High and low dusting are priority of the Housekeeping Team. Thank you Red Roof Staff

In the midst of relocating I came to stay here. The room we have is very large and spacious! The bed is SO comfortable, housekeeping does a great job, the manager, Ebony is so sweet and willing to help anyway possible. Joseph is a great asset to their team as well. He has went above and beyond to help accommodate us, and extremely friendly!! Sarah is also a great one too! Easter weekend when I was worried about things, she was able to help me, and even get me into the room I requested! Close to the highway, shopping, and a GREAT VALUE for people needing a clean room with great service!!!! Keep up the great work team!

10/10 experience. The highlight of my stay was Thomas at the front desk who was professional and friendly, not to mention has a great sense of humor too! Check in was smooth and my room was very clean. Would recommend to anyone who is looking for a premier experience at a budget price.

Typically my experience at a Red Roof is very subpar, but the rooms at this one were excellent here, very neat and clean, free of insects, etc. This one is definitely putting some effort in. I had no issues getting checked in and no issues with the room being reserved by someone else for me, like I did at another hotel down the road. The staff were polite and friendly, and the location is incredibly well-lit at night which was excellent for my peace of mind and sense of safety. My main suggestion for how this location could improve is at minimum, a microwave in each room. I can't complain much though, this hotel saved me at the eleventh hour when another one down the road fell though and failed to do its job.

I've recently had to stay at this location for a couple months and I would say that the staff has been exceptionally helpful. The rooms have always been clean. Everything's been a pleasant experience here. If you have a problem the staff does best they can to help you as quickly as they can. I will like to point out that Griselda (Front Desk) is especially a delight so I can truly recommend this place

The rooms were clean with clean towels and sheets. The decor was nice. Bed slept fine. Microwave and fridge. The rooms are just tired. They're in need of paint on the doors, fixing the ceiling in the bathroom from moisture and the entry door needs to shut tighter to help prevent noise from outside to be loud and heat/air from escaping. Overall though it was good for a night's stay.

When I went to the office to complain my room had not been cleaned that day, I was told housekeeping does not clean rooms daily. They do not come into the room to empty trash, make the bed or change out soiled linens unless you are a "longer" stay guest! TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE. Woke up early this morning and found a small roach on the bedside stand and an adult on the heater. Reported Canceled future reservation.

Clean. Sturdy motel made of wood concrete and steel. Our room was functional. The layout was poor, maybe it was handicap room. TV and desk in the corner. No lighting over desk and having TV in corner was strange. 1 little trashcan. None in bathroom. Light over sink was out. Drain plugs are strange in sink and tub if you've never work them before. Safety latch is screwed into thin molding on door-a joke-not secure. No coffee in morning. I would stay again. It was cheap flop for the night. Blessings, John 20:29

Quite possibly the worst hotel experience I've ever had. Kinda hilarious how bad this place is and they still try to charge over 100 per night. Their cleaner must have just quit cause my room wasn't ready and there was other people saying theirs was not clean either. Dude at the front was overwhelmed, undertrained, and has no clue what's happening. Absolutely an insane business. Hire a new manager, all new employees, and pay them a living wage.

Very clean rooms, great employees, and a nice quiet place for my boyfriend and I to get some rest. Upon arrival, I realized the third-party agency I rented my room through booked me into a handicap-accessible room. One of the friendly staff members named Joseph was amazing at getting me checked into another room with no hassle or extra fees.
