Get ready to use the privy if you decide to leave Windigo or Rock Harbor. The island is absolutely beautiful and when I went in early September nearly deserted once you get out on the ridge. I hiked without seeing any other people for 3-5 hours at a time. If you're quiet hiking you will see a ton of wildlife. Tons of great camping sites across the island, with most of the smaller ones devoid of people. I can't wait to plan a longer trip sometime in the future.

My new favorite underrated park!! There is a reason this is the most revisited of ANY of the national parks! As an added bonus, it's also the least visited in the lower 48. The hiking and camping are second to none, and there's plenty of moose, foxes, wolves, otters, beavers, and loons to see. The ride out from Grand Portage can be quite rough and wet depending on the weather. At the windigo port, the visitor center has plenty of merchandise, maps, and helpful staff for any questions and recommendations. There's a restroom building with showers up the road from there, and one building further is a small cafe and gift store. For day trippers like us, the Grace Creek Overlook and Windigo Nature Trails were perfect hikes to get a taste of the island and fill most of the time. At the Port 20 minutes before boarding, Ranger Kate gives an awesome talk about the local wildlife. There's also an introduction right when you get off the boat for a quick rundown of day options and to answer any questions. We would definitely come back for an overnight camping and hiking trip with a handful of trails over 20 miles and fairly easy.

This is by far one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been with some of the best memories of my life. The backpack to our site was a lot of ups and downs but definitely worth it. We managed to find a nice campsite with a pretty view, and even had an encounter with an otter and a baby fox. The only downside is we didn’t have more time!! I cant wait to return, and hopefully I get to see a moose on the second time around.

Absolutely magical place! Beautiful views, very well maintained trails (at least the ones I went on which happen to also be some of the more common/popular ones), nice staff and such friendly visitors. First time there, my only prior backpacking experience was living in Colorado for 2 months doing trail work a few years ago, so I am by no means a pro. Went with my dad and sister, this was their first time backpacking. We stayed at Rock Harbor campground night one, hiked to Three Mile Campground via Tobin Harbor trail night two and hiked back to rock harbor via Rock Harbor trail. Stayed in a housekeeping cabin night three. In the end we did not do a lot of trails but what we did was pretty good for first timers. Only thing to note with Rock Harbor trail is it is pure rock at points so could be considered a little difficult especially if wet. Although this was a short trip and our itinerary was changed due to weather, it was a great first visit to the island. Using this visit as a learning experience to know exactly what I want to do when I return in the future!

A trip to remember for sure. I was there for five days backpacking. I had a great time. The rangers are awesome and very helpful. Got there on the isle royale queen and their staff is great also. I will be back. I have to see a moose

3 days/2 nights on the Feldtmann Loop. The island is so wild and pristine. Bugs were bad at the end of June but it’s part of the experience. Take plenty of OFF deep woods. The shop may be sold out. All the rangers were very informative and nice! What an experience to visit.

Easily the most remote and unspoiled national park I have visited yet. The rangers at Windigo were very friendly and helpful. Be social, talk to other visitors and make some friends! This place is an experience, whether you come for a week or come for a few hours. Get it checked off of your national park bucket list and enjoy one of the best hikes of your life. Have fun!
