Genuine Portuguese cuisine since 1976. We enjoy the shrimp in garlic appetizer and the fried calamari. I didn't care for the paella, large clams and the lobster was tough. Most entrees include chips and Spanish rice. Pricing is reasonable compared to similar establishments in the area. The food is somewhat inconsistent. The Sangria is always good. The service has been great every time we've been there.

Mark and the rest of the team at the Portuguese Fisherman give their all day in and day out. From the carefully curated decor to the friendly faces of the staff and regulars alike you are guaranteed to feel at home when visiting. Whether you sit for a drink or meal alone at the bar, or have a banquet with your whole family, the quality of the ingredients in their food and drinks is top notch. Of particular note is their fresh seafood, hand selected by their chef every single day, and their daily specials which range from authentic Portuguese countryside dishes, to American comfort food, and everything in between. If you are from the area, and especially if you have had Portuguese food before, pay "The Fisherman" a visit!

My friend and I had lunch here on the weekend. It’s our first time trying Portuguese cuisines as well as this restaurant. We absolutely love all dishes we ordered here. We’d like to recommend this restaurant to our friends who’ve never visited it. BTW, there’s a free parking lot behind the restaurant only for their customers.

Love this place, any opportunity I go back. My favorite is festival de marisco. Great place, don’t forget the sangria

Without a doubt one of if not THE best restaurants in New Jersey. The sangria is amazing, the atmosphere is great, the staff are extremely helpful and attentive. I've had steaks from just about every steakhouse you can think of and The Fisherman's Angus Na Casserola blows them all out of the water. Not even a close second out there. It's the best steak I've ever eaten hands down. If your a steak fan you owe it to yourself to get there and try it out.

Service is still stellar here as it always was. Appetizers were great ( garlic shrimp and calamari) the main meals were good. Desserts were very good. Drinks were expensive . We are on the second floor which is a huge banquet hall. Not as nice as the 1st floor, so if you have a choice, stay downstairs. Plus you don't have to walk around to the rear outside entrance to get in.

We moved to FL last year and recently went back to NJ to visit and we of course had to go to our favorite restaurant... EVERYTHING, from the bread, the sangria, the food, desert was AMAZING!!! You guys should consider opening one in FL.

The items that we ordered were either okay or really bad. The Polvo was the best thing that we ordered. Would not recommend the Fisherman’s Platter, which was absolutely horrible, the 3 Mushroom Pasta, which was way too oily, or the steak, which despite looking good was tough, overdone, and tasteless. Wouldn’t go back.

It was our first time eating there. The food was great. I really enjoyed the salad. We had salmon and octopus and enjoyed it as well. The calamari was really good too.

The ambiance was very nice, the service was great, and the food was better. Came here for a birthday celebration and was not disappointed. The Sangria was good but they could have added a bit more variety of fruit in it instead of just apples. The Octopus appetizer was delicious, the stuffed shrimp dinner was perfect. Can't wait to go back again. Well worth the money spent.

Everything was delicious! Arthur was a server extraordinaire- attentive and so pleasant. I can't wait to come back and try other dishes on the menu. Warning... It's a lot of really good food!

Good place for family style dining. Food is always delicious and in generous amounts. Service is attentive and fast. Drinks are also well prepared.

Always top notch delicious food and very friendly service. One of my favorite restaurants. Go there at least once a month. Usually get almost every appetizer on the menu and do a buffet of apps and then dinner. So so good.

Reserved a table for 8 about ten days in advance. Beautiful place with its own parking lot. Atmosphere was intimate but lively. Very good looking bar area. Sat down very happy with the table in the dining room. Water and bread are brought immediately upon sitting down. Sangria and other drink orders were taken sangria was delicious. For apps we ordered the octopus, chorizo, and calamari. All perfectly prepared. Entrees included the Fisherman Platter, picanha with the sizzling garlic butter, shrimp and rice and the lamb shanks. Everything was absolutely delicious. Treated ourselves to some Portuguese specialties for dessert to go with some brandy. The owner Mark came by and was very gracious. The final bill was extremely reasonable for the high quality of food and service that we received. This wasn’t my first time at the Fisherman, but every time I go there I am reminded why I keep coming back. Will definitely repeat.

Growing up in a highly Portuguese neighborhood I have been skeptical about trying NJ Portuguese food but from the moment I walked in, you could tell the vibes were right. Immediately was greeted with water, bread, and salad. Our server was nice and the service was more European style as he wasn't always coming up to us and asking if we wanted anything else which was very much appreciated. Ordered Caldo Verde and it was $4; this filled me up but I still indulged my main which was enough for multiple people. I'm very excited to bring some more friends here to experience good Portuguese food.

As regular patrons of the Fisherman we have never been disappointed. Recently I hosted a Baby Shower in the Wine Room. I cannot begin to tell you the excellent raves I received from the guests. The food, Sangria and service was compared to a mini wedding. Beginning with the table settings to ending with the custom-made Teddy Bear Cake supplied by the Fisherman was awesome. I selected family style dinners and believe you me the trays of food were amazing. Before the first tray was finished there was another hot one being served. The Fisherman without a doubt delivered a first-class event making the Baby Shower a sucess. A big THANK YOU to Mark and his amazing staff!! Maureen Kyle

Food was very delicious and servers were friendly. The only downside of this restaurant is they have a 2 hour per table limit posted every where to make sure it's seen and you feel rushed. My family likes to enjoy some sangria and enjoy each others company. If you are looking for good food and don't mind eating and running this is a good place to go

My meal was delicious consisting of Lobster shrimp and scallops everythingwas perfectlycooked and seasoned. The staff was very pleasant and attentive. However, the dining area is a bit small and gets crowded so I would suggest you make reservations whenever you decide to dine in.

The place is well lit, clean and decorated nicely. We made same day reservations quick and easy. The waiters were polite. They give you a time limit of 2 hrs to dine, which is written on the menu. We started off with the shrimp in garlic sauce, which it wasn't all that great. Few of the shrimps were not cleaned, the shrimp was not hot and they we barely tasted the garlic. The Paella Valencia was good, Plenty of seafood for 2 (regular size) The shrimp in it was cleaned and not over cooked. After dinner we ordered coffee and expresso. Came to find out it was the same thing (except the price) just different cup. We can tell the difference because, we have gone to numerous of Portuguese restaurants, so we are always trying new places. Overall, I can honestly say that we are not going back.

High quality food and service. Everyone was happy. Prices were reasonable. Quantity was great. I really have nothing bad to say and can't wait to come back
