Lousy food, worst let down of the trip home. They "used to be" THE authentic Hawaiian food restaurant we knew...NOT ANY MORE! Parking is a challenge, to say the least. Only 4 metered spots in front of store...it's always been this way. We parked a block away at public parking, cost us $2.30 for 2 hours? Lau Lau was THE WORST we ever had ANYWHERE, including in North Carolina where we now live AND in Chesapeake, Virginia where we visit L & L Hawaiian BBQ once a month for tastes of home. Lau Lau was the most tasteless hunk of "stuff" I ate ANYWHERE! Couldn't taste pork, fish, Hawaiian sea salt or taro leaves...tasted more like they boiled it instead of steaming it. Squid luau was also mediocre with few slices of octopus placed on top? What I remember used to be cooked IN the leaves, not on top. Rest of MY order was "O.K". My wife ordered fried fish, came with bowl of rice and Portuguese sausage separately. She ate my haupia and sweet potato slice(?) She enjoyed her meal. Helpful young man took our order...5 stars just for his service with a smile and friendliness. For what we paid, we could've had 2 servings of Lau Lau plate combo at Rainbow drive in nearby or at most L & L Hawaiian BBQ on the Island...even on mainland US. We DO NOT recommend this place to ANYONE now. We will never go back there again if/when we do return home again. That was the waste of $60 +$5 tip we ever spent anywhere we traveled.

This restaurant has been opened for a VERY, VERY long time. The food us always fresh abd so ONO ( DELICIOUS ). The decor and tables hasn't changed since I was little but it always gives me a nostalgic feel when I stop by to eat there when we go home to Hawaii to visit. Lots of wonderful memories here. The Chicken Luau was so fabulous! The owner served us abd was so nice.

Great local spot with great food, one of the main reasons I keep coming back to the hawaiian islands. The laulau with short ribs is a must order. Many of the local businesses are suffering from pandemic and help support small businesses!!

Loved this place. It was a two mile walk from our hotel and well worth the experience. We had a reservation which was smart because it's small and closes at 8. The food was real, delicious, authentic. We slurped down Kailua pig, laulau, lomi salmon, coconut pudding, and mochi.

This small family owned restaurant is an excellent little gem! They give you huge portions, the food is delicious, and the people are friendly and helpful. The prices are pretty affordable compared to most places in Hawaii, particularly in the tourist town Honoliulu. On my way back to my hotel I decided to try out some Hawaiian food. I asked to try some authentic Hawaiian cuisine, and I got to try poi for the first time. I opted for both the poi on the side and the steamed rice. I combined them and they were good together. This is some really good food. I ordered a large platter that I could not finish --the size was suitable to splitting between two people-- to sample a few options. If you ever find yourself around Honolulu do yourself a favor and visit them. (726 Kapahulu Ave, Honolulu, HI 96816).

A small local place to get some authentic Hawaiian food, it is about 30 minutes walk from the beach and the food was good! I ordered the Kalua Pig & Laulau Plate with rice. Also the gentleman was so helpful because I had never had authentic Hawaiian food and didn't know exactly what to order, he also gave me a sample of the poi.

Taste good. It says authentic Hawaiian dish. It was 2people portion but put whole thing on the one a styrofoam plate. Styrofoam dish and a cheap plastic bowl, disposable forks aren't welcoming . Compare to the price we paid, we deserve actual silverware and decent ceramic plates? Would not recommend if you expect decent presentation of the meal. I was.

Food was delectable!! This is the closest to Filipino food here in Waikiki. We love it. Simot sarap. Lechon Kawali is the bomb!!! Also the haupia was very good, it was like a maja. Spicy Ahi Poke is the best I've tasted here in Waikiki. They also serve plain white rice (very Pinoy), that's a plus one. Atmosphere 4 stars, Seating is few, they only had 4-5 tables inside. No restroom. It's very carenderia style kind of resto. Love it!

Off the main area, but worth the trip --- small hole-in-the-wall. Quick service, authentic, tasty, but too much salt in the meat for me. Wall decor is fun to look at. Nice, friendly lady serving us. She let me sample poi before deciding if I wanted it with my meal. Not for those looking for fancy dining or ambiance.

Still decent Lau Lau & poi. Unfortunately I was served a Lau Lau that was room temp. Sent it back & got one right out of the pot. The Lau Lau’s are about one third smaller than in the past. Instead of increasing the price, they cut back on the portion size. A lot of restaurants do this unfortunately. Dumb move! Would I go back, yes but I’ll request a Lau Lau right from the pot so they don’t try to pawn off one that’s been sitting around for awhile. I do miss the old owners. Honest.

The food was mouth watering. Every bite till the last was ravenously good. My partner and I both ordered the BBQ beef plate and it was a perfectly healthy balanced meal. The service was fast and courteous. Come here for great affordable Hawaiian classics!

We were recommended the spot by one of our Uber drivers for Hawaiian food, and we were not disappointed. The bbq beef short ribs were SO good, highly recommend! The service was quick as well.

We wanted to try Hawaiian food and chose Da Ono because of the good reviews and convenient location. Everything we got was tasty. We especially like the pork laulau and chicken long rice. Not pictured was the fried ahi belly, which we ordered after the food came out. Small place. Good service. Very affordable.

My first time trying Lau Lau on my 15th trip to Hawaii. Not only met but exceeded my expectations. It was truly delicious! You can tell that it is cooked by true locals who know how to prepare it. I was completely blown away. I wanted to try it on this trip and it made the trip for me.

TLDR: Owner is very nice but food is extremely overpriced for what you get. Came here on the recommendation of a friend and after reading a thread on reddit. Wanted to get some authentic hawaiian food, but was pretty disappointed. The owner greeted us and he was very friendly. Then we got the menu, and saw the prices... nearly 30$ for most combos, which seemed really steep compared to most places I've eaten, but ok, we will try it because we heard it's good. We ordered the Kalua pork and Laulau combo, which was supposed to come with lomi fish, haupia, poi, and rice. We also ordered a side of mac salad, which I have never seen as a separate side on a combo like this. Food came out really fast, which I was impressed by, but the portions seemed really small and there was no poi, and no fish. Not sure why they were listed in the combo. Pork tasted pretty good, but not as good as some local joints mainland in Seattle. The Laulau was great, but not amazing, and the other sides were just ok. Overall the price was just too high for the food quality and portion size. I recommend going somewhere else where you can get 2x the food for the same price or less.
