What a gem East London has. The tropical and well manicured setting is like being in heaven. We were privileged to stay in the Nelson Suite for 2 days. The suite was spotless and all soaps etc were provided. The huge shower had fabulous pressure and lovely hot water. The king size bed was so comfy, it reminded me of home. The inclusive breakfast was a wonderful array of fruits, cereals, muffins, crumpets as well as a choice of hot yummy breakfasts made fresh and served hot with garnish. The staff were all super friendly and were willing to go the extra mile, not often found nowadays. My gratitude and sincere thanks to our host and hostess for our wonderful weekend spent at Fish Eagle Manor. We shall definitely return and we highly recommend this establishment to families or business executives visiting East London. Our very high standards and expectations were most certainly met. Well done to all who do their part in the running of this establishment. Blessings and see you soon.

We really had the worst experience at this lodge, We were there for a friends wedding in East London. They gave us a small room that didn’t smell good (chess room) and the shower was not working properly. The water was either coming too cold or too hot and coming out like drip of water. A 5 minute shower will take you 30 minutes. The breakfast was terrible! Lol they gave us cold toast and cold bacon and mushrooms, it seems that it was leftovers from a previous day. I would not recommend this place to anyone! Imagine the price we paid for the service we got! Totally disappointing!

Far and away one of my personal favourites. One of East Londond best kept secrets. Absolutely stunning, cottage stlyle accomodation right on the river. Amazing staff, friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much effort. So peaceful and quite it feels like you could be out of out of town on private game reseverse. Your stay is rounded off with freshly made breakfast and top class coffee. We will back!

Made booking with Tracy for the couples retreat weekend. As advertised we expected a chalet but when we booked in we were put in a room between the kitchen & laundry room😱 hence when I made reservations with the lady (Tracy) she said there is 4 places still available. Nevertheless, hence we booked in after 5 we didn't mind the room for the night though. The room got so cold the there was no blanket available, the morning at breakfast my husband asked for a blanket and was told they will send it to our room. I later asked Tracy via whatsapp if she can move us to a chalet, she said there is no other available yet the afternoon new people booked in. This was the worst experience i ever hadπŸ’€ and to top it off the toilet stopped working the Saturday night (didn't flush)😭😭

Halal friendly, you get greeted by first name which makes you feel like you’re part of the family. Great host, great staff, I’ve been staying here almost a month. Either Dave or Gen β€œthe owners” make time every morning to personally attend to their guest.

    - I asked specifically about an oven – in my planning for Sat. supper (MOST important meal prior to IronMan) – Ask Dave it was disgusting and even after it was cleaned on SUNDAY, I could not use it when you put it on it smokes the entire house. - The Fridge – I informed the lady at reception at 12 on Friday, sent you a WhatsApp at 2pm, you only called me after 4 also promising ice till Sat morning – I never received this. At Breakfast I told Dave about the fridge – he was not aware of the problem and tried to make a plan. ONLY on SUNDAY at 1pm I was called to be informed now I have a fridge. I have lost so much food this week, because it got spoil. - The cutlery there was only 3 table spoons, no glassware to even use in the oven or any type of container to make a salad or put chips out. No dishcloth after I asked 4 different ladies over the weekend, eventually used one of my bathroom cloths. - The bigger pot and pan was so burnt I could not get it clean – again had to really struggle to get a simple dish done. - The braai grid was disgusting, could not use – had to go and buy my own. Again Braai facilities advertised and I have - Iron facilities is posted on your webpage – there only an iron board. - The sleeper couch my daughter had to sleep on is so broken and uneven to lay on I had put pillows on it to sleep on. - Cleaning staff just walking in and on the stoep cleaning at 8 am when we were still in pajamas – what about privacy? - You could have informed us on arrival about the party extending past 5 and how many times I had to beg the kids not to come in by the gate at the bungalow – where was the supervision, was your guests not aware that we are paying customers. - So you charged me for a 4pax (charging a baby of 7 months – advertised should be free) and child younger than 12 should only be R200. After all of this you gave me a discount R300 (the 3 nights ) R200 for (the guests 2 nights) R220 Drinks

If you're looking for a family oriented place, private, secluded, staff who treat you like they know you for ever, then this is the place. And the breakfast is out of this world. The entire setup is gorgeous. You have to experience this place to believe that it's perfect. They go the extra mile. And if you happen to meet any other guests, believe it, they're just as friendly. You feel like you belong. I'm already planning another trip there. Just longer

Hosts, Sandy and Brent, went out of their way to accommodate me at very short notice. Room was clean and everything advertised was available. Amazing river view, and was pleasantly woken by a fish Eagle cry. How apt!!

I was there for a single night and the lock to my room was not working...lady apologized profusely and was very nice but could not fix it that night. I understood even though I felt unsafe the whole night which is the why and how I was late for breakfast by 5 min.... and tell u what, all the niceness quickly vanished and told me like I was some boarding school kid that breakfast time was over so there was nothing she could do... I was late by 5 min for God's sake.... definitely not going back there and not recommending to anyone! So typical, she was nice to me bcoz she wanted to me to understand her situation but when tables turned bcoz of her inefficiency she became a pitbul...

This place is amazing I dare you! It has a small pool to refresh too. You will get all the quiet you can ever wish for.

Loved our stay, will be coming back definitively. Why not 5 star?-breakfast starters finished and weren't replaced immediately and when they were replaced, it was not all the startes we had before...so imagine you were waiting for muffins to be refilled but they don't arrive. Other than that..it was amazing.

The owner lives on site, and the guesthouse is run by him and his wife. They are really nice hosts and very accommodating as on several occasions we arrived after 21h00 in the evening. No problems, with the room ready

We want to thank Fish Eagle Manor for accommodating our Friends, Family & Us so beautifully on our Wedding weekend in East London. Your service was personalized & exceptional, all meals were colourfully delicious. The grounds were well maintained, lush and expansive. Laundry was done in a flash and rooms were always clean & tidy. Staff are super helpful & friendly. And yes, you hear Fish Eagles and many other birds especially in the mornings. I can highly commend this as a small Wedding reception venue. Kids can play & swim and family can relax nearby and... Nicki's & her teams cooking skills are amazing! Thank you all.

Gen the owner is hands-on and takes great pride in her establishment, while Aurora the manageress is an absolute star and ensured that my every need was catered for. One of the most tranquil and beautiful place I've stayed at in recent years. A nature lovers paradise. It feels as if you way out in the country side, with an actual river (Nuhoon) bordering the estate, yet in reality you are a short drive to East London's CBD, and malls.

Beautiful and welcoming environment, Dave the Host was amazing, the stuff is friendly and very helpful, rooms are clean, intimate and cosy I also enjoyed their pool the pool side is relaxing , the only issue I had was cats roaming around and entering my room if I don't close the sliding door. I will definitely go back that's for sure.

Bird lover's paradise for sure - while we were there, we saw green pigeons, trumpeter hornbills and fish eagles to name a few. We stayed in the river side suite and it was a treat. The view was spectacular, and the room is incredibly luxurious and comfortable - my favourite thing was the giant shower with two shower heads. The grounds are also beautiful with a lovely swimming pool. Breakfast was tasty and staff were nice.

Beautiful place BUT: Family had no fridge from Friday till Sunday 1pm and we had no fridge from Saturday till Sunday 1pm. Oven was disgusting Main bathroom had glass doors and no curtains, so could not use that shower or bath as there were no privacy. Almost no cutlery or cooking ware to be able to cook a proper meal never mind the fact that the 2 pots that were there was horribly burned No bowls to use for salads or chips No drying cloths for dishes Braai grid was unusable Deck of the pool by the Bungalo was unsafe, fiance got cut by one of the wooden pieces that was loose and also some nail heads are not properly nailed in. No iron but a iron board

  • 4/5 Lihle T. 6 years ago on Google
A river literally runs through it... Tranquil and beautiful. Stayed in room with a kitchenette, though I didn't need it at the time. It's nice to know for if I'm ever in East London on a different occasion.
