This store may look small from outside but wow it is so beautiful inside. So many well kept planted tanks, show tanks, coral tanks, premium bettas. I could go on. Only had a few minutes in my lunch break, but will definitely be coming here from now on.

Inspiring tank setups in store. Pretty good fish selection. Lots of cultured plants available. Prices seemed standard. Parking is terrible and not much social distancing in store.

I somehow stumbled upon Bob’s Tropical Fish online and found a listing for a betta they had rescued. (Note: they also go by “Oh My Betta” for their betta fish.) I was a bit nervous to order a fish online but I have to say the process was so smooth! Jasmine was so sweet and upgraded my heat pack free of charge after I realized the weather in my city would get quite cold. My betta shipped very well packaged - heat pack, proper insulation, and a stable surrounding box. He was shipped in what looked like stress guard to manage his stress. He was eating within an hour and has been swimming around for the last few days quite happily - he’s even started to make bubbles nests. I’ve purchased bettas from local stores that have not faired this well. You can tell he was taken care of properly while in BTF’s care. Overall, highly recommend Bob’s Tropical Fish/Oh My Betta for their customer service and quality fish! Thank you!

Family owned & run, this shop (which has been in operation for over 40 years though w/ different owner/operators over the years) is run w/ well-deserved pride. The brother & sister team who were @the helm when I'd visited had a clear & concise knowledge of all things aquatic and put the welfare of their vast number of plants & fish before making a sale. (I.e., they STRONGLY advised against me buying even the most innocuous of goldfish w/out having first made my home environ-friendly/welcoming to the fish! Respect.) It's dark & humid & necessarily so and hearing the gurgle of the aquarium pumps - all of it - took me right back to a page out of my childhood.

My kids and I recently visited Bob's Tropical Fish (also known as Oh My Betta) in search of our new betta. We visited a few local stores to move away from the large retailers, (we don't shop at large retailers anymore for pets, after some hard-learned lessons...) we couldn't find a place that aligned with our values and what we were looking for. Although Bob's Tropical Fish is not a local store for us, we decided to give it a try and find a healthy fish. When we walked into the store, we were so happy about store's well setup and the optimal condition of the animals. It was evident that the shop owner has a genuine dedication to the well-being of the fish. When we asked questions, they provided us with insights into maintenance expectations and the specific conditions required for different fish species. This helped us to make an informed decision about whether we were equipped to properly care for an animal, or if we had the right set up before taking the fish home. I also greatly appreciate that they are transparent about the sourcing of the fish and their dedication to providing animals that break free from the cycle of being raised under poor inbreeding conditions on large farms. If concerns about the sourcing and quality are important to you, I highly recommend visiting Bob's Tropical Fish. By doing so, you can save time and energy by avoiding larger retailers or shops that prioritize transactions over the well-being of the animals. Our new betta has happily joined our family, and we look forward to visiting the store again in the future.

got some great floating plants, cherry shrimp and three of these amazingly patterned red racer nerite snails. this place always has a great and varied selection of inverts, freshwater fish and plants. always worth coming in to browse, Very friendly staff and some hard to find fish at bargain prices 🙌🏼🐟🐠🐡 (also- while I didn’t come in to buy one, their selection of Bettas both male and female is the best I’ve seen anywhere, truly incredible color selections)

Amazing store - cleanest tanks of any store in LA. Healthy fish, rare plecos. Best part is the staff, they are extremely knowledgeable and will go the extra mile to help you with any questions or problems you may have.

Among the stores in LA where i’ve been, this store have the best quality betta fish. but price was best higher too. Depending on the type, it starts at 30~40 and the giant betta is 60~100. but they have so beautiful betta fish. There aren’t many kinds of fish in this store. I think It's the same everywhere. If I have enough money and I could only go to one store for buying betta fish, I would go to this store.

For a small store, they have a pretty large collection of products, plants, and fish. Tanks are clean and staff are around to help you. Was able to pick up some more plants for my small shrimp tank and am pretty satisfied. Only problems is that you probably have to park on pomona Blvd since parking is iffy. Also wish more products had price tags on them, because I wasn't sure for the plants.

Great selection of live animals and good prices. Parking is a little difficult to get to but not too bad once you figure it out. I park down the alley at a small cul-de-sac just passed the shop. I come here to support my shrimp tanks. They have about 10 or so shrimp tanks with all color neocaridina and caridina shrimp. I also have gotten the biggest amano shrimp I have ever seen here. The shrimp I have gotten here have been very healthy and quite a few came berried and had babies fairly quickly. I have not seen what I consider to be a low grade in the shop in all the time I have been there. Also have many different snails at different times. I've seen loads of different nerite snails here, from the harder to find red racer and horned versions to the basic zebra snails. I even found thai micro crabs here the last time I was visiting and just had to bring some home. When they get a plant shipment, the selection is amazing. Good selection generally, but if you are looking for some real cool aquatic plants, ask them when they expect their next shipment. They also have a large selection of culture cups if that is more your thing.

One of, if not the best Tropical Fish Stores in Los Angeles. Top tier when it comes to quality on both sides of the hobby. You'll find rare Freshwater fish and plants and also unique saltwater fish and corals, all in one place with great customer service. Great LFS and worth the drive if you don't live nearby. 😁🤙🏾

Bob:s is a great store. Very nice selection of cichlids, nice healthy fish, Nice selection of community fish and some nice salt water as well. I'm not a saltwater guy but I was incredibly impressed with his freshwater selection and a nice selection of high quality food as well. Very personable great staff very friendly and willing to help and answer any questions you may have. Wish it was closer to me, I'd buy everything there if it wasn't far away. Hope to get there again very soon. From what I understand he gets frequent shipments of quite a few different species of fish. Very fair prices for fish plants and accessories. Fairly small frontage so it's kind of easy to miss but definitely worth the trip.

They are very knowledgeable. The tanks are really well taken care of. They have many examples from micro to huge tanks. They seem to have a ton of plants as well. I'm sure I'll be back to pick up some plants and maybe try a tiny aquarium too!

Clean, knowledgeable, friendly. They have a good selection of fish and plants. Got some great looking rainbows today. The parking situation is confusing but it's worth the trouble to check this place out.

Awesome place! Been there a ton of times. The owners are really friendly and knowledgeable. I started with a tank for myself and soon after my wife got one as well. All the fish are doing great and the plants look amazing. Can't recommend them enough. Update a year later. They are always looking to bring in new and exciting additions to the hobby and have since bought an aquarium for my sister and she loves it. Still the only place I will buy anything for my aquariums. Going there today for more plants.

They have lots of fish and tank decorations in their store as well as very knowledgeable staff. Love coming here, don't do it often since it's a little far from where I live but when I do I'm always amazed by all the stuff they have especially the planted tanks 😍.

The guys at Bob's are extremely helpful and knowledgeable about anything aquatic. In the last 6 months I've been in there numerous times for stuff ranging from water testing to planting an aquarium. As a business, the will do what they can to make things right if there is a problem. Their animals are well taken care of, the place is clean, the water in all of the tanks is crystal clear. In addition to being knowledgeable and very customer service oriented, they are just plan nice guys! I really appreciate all the help they have provided in setting up my tank.

Great spot, their fish all are very healthy. They've got their own Betta breeder so you can some real beauties. Also have a good selection of shrimps. Lastly, it's the only place I know that sells blue tannin additives.

😠 Disgusting service. I ordered from them and they scammed me for a near-empty container which should’ve had 25 dubia roaches inside. - There was only 1 small roach in each container.
