It's a great little place to take the family. You could easily get around the place in a short time but, they have a lot of free roaming animals for you to look out for to really make the best of your time there. It replicates a jungle with a warm, humid atmosphere. If the heat gets to you, you are able to leave the building and return later on in the day with your entry ticket. There are butterflies, tarantulas a variety of different birds, animals and other bugs to learn about. The staff are polite, friendly and give plenty of information regarding the creatures they house. They have sessions where you can handle the insects and/or animals, while telling you about the animal being handled. I would definitely go again and would recommend a visit :)

Incredible day out with the family. Please note that tickets are for the whole day and allow you to come and go as you please. It's also worth noting that it simulates the tropics here so it's VERY warm and humid. So if it's cold out, easy to remove layers are a must. Take your time, there's a lot to see but the best way to see is to be very still. A lot of the wildlife has a bit of personality if they're allowed to show it. The talks are well worth attending too Really would recommend to anyone just looking for a day out

3.7 star review. 🌟 Bigtopia is definitely worth a visit if you have children and is value for money. It is very small but you can leave and return and they have a number of free roaming animals and insects like Parrots, terrapins, fish, lizards, birds and butterfly's. This is a Simulated tropical environment maintained at about 30 degrees so no need to wrap up. Staff are friendly and informative. It's situated in the grounds of a free port shopping centre that has free parking.

Wow! For the price of admission, despite it being a small place, it is an awesome little gem. The staff were wonderful and so informative. Allowed the kids to hold the corn snake and were generally very informative. Very very hot and humid inside so the ticket lasts for the full day so you can keep going back and forth from the shops to the bugs! Parrots and other animals just wandering around and the kids loved bumping into a random animal lurking around the corner. 5/5 definitely will go back.

Awesome little zoo. Although it is small we managed to spend a good hour (if not longer) searching out the different species and chatting with the lovely bloke. The lad genuinely had a love for the animals. Knew pretty much every answer to every question we had. Invited us back to see the boa up close and to watch the civit being fed. For avid animal enthusiasts it is definitely worth a visit. You can spend a lot of time there - if you can stand the heat 🥵😁.

I think calling it a Zoo is a bit of an over sell but it's still a lovely experience and recommended if you have some time to kill... In our case waiting for my wife to finish her marathon race!

I really enjoyed my visit to Bugtopia. The staff were friendly and helpful, and they explained the do's and don'ts of Bugtopia. I was also impressed that you could go in and out as many times as you wanted during the day. I especially enjoyed the tropical room, which was a great place to relax on a rainy day. There were all sorts of butterflies and reptiles to see, as well as birds. Overall, I had a great time at Bugtopia and would definitely recommend it to others.

This is a good place to visit with kids to explore plenty of bugs and insects. It's warm inside for obvious reasons so something to factor in. However you can come and go as much as you want during the day

Nice little zoo with free roaming animals and friendly staff. Went with my son and he really enjoyed it. It's very hot but the fact you can come and go as you please to cool down is great

This is a lovely small attraction that is perhaps over egged on its website. The viewing area is a figure of eight walkway and has quite a lot to see including free flying macaws and budgies, and a beautiful African pheasant, a couple of iguanas and a couple of large butterflies, plus several glass tanks with snakes, spiders, scorpions and one with a civet cat, and lots of stick insects. We also attended a reptile talk where you got to stroke a skink if you wanted to. You can go out and back in on the same day, which means you could return for the various events. The children enjoyed it.

Yes it's a small place but at the time it was a 2 for 1 offer. I loved the experience and spent about 40 mins walking round and interacting with the animals. Seen some poor reviews but actually if ya take a bit of time and really look around it's worth the 6 quid. Remember what you pay for food or beer in comparison...

It is only small but the fact that you can go in and out throughout the day is great as the animals won't all be out at any given point. The lady who did our invertebrates encounter knew an awful lot about the animals and took it all on her stride, would definitely go there again for more encounters

Lovely place to visit. Only small but as it is within the shopping centre it is a good place to pop in and out if to keep the kids amused. They also have a meet the animal sessions so again it is good to be able to go in and out. Very knowledgeable people who work there and they are so friendly, even to an autistic child who ask questions constantly and never sits still!

Amazing little place, the staff were extremely knowledgable about the animals, the animals themselves were all happy doing their own thing. Its a small place but you can come in and out all day once you have paid admission

Fantastic experience. Never thought I would hold a cockroach but we did and to learn about the bugs changed my opinion on them. It is very hot in there so be prepared but you get stamped on your hand so you can go in and out as you please. Would go again.

Great little place. Great for kids. Yes very humid. And hot. That has to expected. But your allowed to leave and come back which we did. Knowledgeable staff.

Really enjoyed our visit with the grandkids. We took our time and saw most of the animals, birds and insects. I am a wheelchair user and it is fully accessible. The talk on invertebrates was so informative. We were so impressed. Excellent place to visit.

Bugtopia is a great little place. Insects, iguanas, snakes and all sorts of other creepy crawlies. The staff here were exceedingly friendly and one of them had a fantastic beard. Knowledgeable about the animals they have, the talks on the animals they show was informative and interesting. As you enter the jungle area you're greeted with a humid and hot environment and if you have glasses expect to steam up in seconds. Keep an eye out for the stick insects and enjoy the small yet busy walk around the jungle. We enjoy this place and this is the second visit we have made and it is very reasonable in price. 6 pounds for Adults and 5 pounds for children. Well worth the money and my daughter loves it. The reason 4 stars has been given is mainly for how tiny this place is, it has so much potential but just needs a damn good investment to make it bigger, shame there isn't 4 1/2 stars I could give officially but unofficially it is a 4 1/2 attraction. Easy to get too and toilets right across the way from it and your ticket lasts all day so you can come and go as you please. Would highly recommend this attraction to young and old.

I was treated to a "Face your fears" experience and had very close encounters - and a superb, knowledgeable talk about each one - with 2 lizards and 3 snakes, including a boa constrictor. After that, we had a good look around at the other animals in the "jungle". I absolutely loved it - an amazing experience and a birthday to remember. Highly recommended.

Great little place for young kids to explore and learn about animals they wouldn't normally get to see, my daughter loved seeing the animals roam around and experiencing the snakes and spiders (these weren't roaming free!) Its hot in there but you can leave and then come back later on which is good as you get to see more of the animals. Cant wait to go back

Interesting place in a retail unit at Hornsea Freeport. It is very small but does have many interesting animals, birds and bugs to view. It is. Very warm, a tropical environment and once you've paid, your ticket lasts all day. You go go away and come back again later. My daughter and I enjoyed it. We went around it twice and found we saw so many more things we had missed the first time.

Our children loved it here. Although it is small you can buy your ticket and keep on coming in and out which is great as there is little coffee shops for drinks and food around. Also a play gym. This place also offered encounters every hour, whilst we was there we seen a lizard. The handler was very informative and involved the children and let them stroke the lizard 🦎

Love this place, it's very informative for adults and children alike. Hands on experience meeting different critters on every visit keeps it interesting enough that you can go again and again. The trial is getting well established now with so many different insects and animals to look out for. Would recommend 👍

Very surprised how much there was to see in such a small place. The staff were very polite, knowledgeable and great with the kids

Amazing staff were so nice and polite amazing with our 2 small children and taught us a few facts about different species I would 100% recommend a visit to anyone 😊

  • 5/5 Lee C. 1 year ago on Google
Interesting place. I was satisfied with £11 for me and my daughters visit. It is true that you could be round in about 5 minutes unless you take your time and look out for the animals. I can understand how some people don't consider this good value especially if your paying for a large group, perhaps they should consider a group rate? Please don't mark this place just one star the place, reptiles and staff are worth much more than that. Well done to manager for standing up to the idiots marking you just 1 star and slamming the place. Definitely recommend waiting for the talk sections. The girl who showed us the insect was extremely knowledgeable and had the perfect personality. She was very friendly too. In general the staff were very good. I have a unusually abrupt manner and often this comes across wrong. However the staff were not flumuxed by this at all. Thanks everyone. I would go round again sometime and hope to do so.

Small but incredibly interesting place. Take your time because there's so much to see. Knowledgeable staff. Multiple visits on one entry. Highly recommended

First visit and definitely will not be the last. Small but brilliant and very well managed. Ben was excellent.

  • 5/5 Sarah B. 2 years ago on Google
Brilliant. There are many places like this and they're all great but the difference with this place is the staff. The staff are exceptional. The two guys working when we visited had so much patience for my children's (5000) questions. They answered every one giving each child visiting at that time one to one time and encouragement to meet the bugs. The staff are well informed, enthusiastic and it's clear they care for each and every animal and insect there and they want visitors to enjoy themselves too. It isn't a big place but it's worth a visit for sure..

Really pleasantly surprised! It's small, but has a lot in it. We easily spent an hour, but would have happily spent longer if not for our 2 year old getting a bit bored. Staff were amazing! Really friendly & knowledgeable
