I'm
a
71
year
old
female,
fortunate
enough
to
have
had
virtually
no
experience
with
hospitalization.
Then,
in
November
of
2020
(what
a
year!)
I
fell
in
the
snow;
hurt
my
left
foot
badly;
spent
two
days,
hobbling
on
crutches,
and
telling
myself
the
pain
would
go
away.
It
didn't,
but
I
gave
myself
time
to
fall
again.
By
the
time
I
ended
up
in
Eau
Claire
Mayo,
I
had
a
turned
ankle,
a
broken
heel,
and
a
broken
hip.
I
had
emergency
surgery
the
evening
of
November
25,
and
the
surgeon
did
a
great
job.
I
spent
some
time
in
Mayo
rehab,
and
I've
now
been
home
for
a
few
days
--
consciously
reminding
myself
that
I
have
to
move
carefully
and
slowly;
not
like
I'm
going
to
a
four
alarm
fire.
All
doctors,
nurses,
technicians,
and
all
other
staff
at
Eau
Claire
Mayo
were
tremendous.
My
previous
experiences
with
Mayo
(once
in
Rochester;
once
in
Eau
Claire)
involved
by
long-time
boyfriend,
who
had
two
very
serious,
emergency
surgeries
in
just
over
a
year.
His
experience
was
the
same
as
mine,
regarding
the
expertise,
helpfulness,
and
friendliness
of
everyone
from
doctors
to
support
staff.
As
my
boyfriend
(former
Marine)
would
say,
"Oorah,
Mayo!!"
