Beautiful red sandstone palace that is must see while in Aschaffenburg! I visited on a Saturday with only a handful of other tourists, it was not busy at all. I bought a 3.5 EUR ticket at the cashier desk (you can purchase a combined ticket with Pompejanum which is around 5 minutes walking distance) and had to lock my backpack in a locker room before entering the museum. Only cash payments were possible and the staff did not really speak English. Approximately only a quarter of the palace's surface is accessible for visitors, yet there is plenty to see. In the rooms above the museum lobby I explored and learnt about the history of the palace and how it is used now, along with miniature models representing different architectural styles through history (e.i. one model shows how the palace looked when it was destroyed during WWII). Explanations at this section of the museum were bilingual (German-English) however throughout the rest of the visit everything was in German only. The most interesting part was visiting the world's largest collection of architectural models made from cork! I had no clue such a thing existed, therefore I was naturally surprised and amazed. There were at least 40 models of the ancient ruins and monuments in Rome. The eye for the detail was breathtaking, absolutely stunning and the size of the Colosseum model was simply colossal! The rest of the museum offers paintings, art, some furniture and porcelain artefacts. The last place I visited on my tour was a beautifully decorated chapel with an alabaster altar. The courtyard was vast, however completely empty. Toilets were available in the lobby of the museum. Visited in June 2022.

Man wollte uns nur 10% Rabatt geben. Die Dame versuchte uns zu weis zu machen, das man 2 ADAC Karten brauche um die vollen 20% zu erhalten! Aber ihr merkwürdiger Versuch hielt nicht lange stand. Der Park an sich ist neu, schön und gepflegt. Bei den Exponaten handelt es sich um Dinosaurier Attrappen aus Plastik, welche man auf einem Rundweg im Wald ansehen kann. Für Erwachsene eher unspektakulär, aber die Kinder lieben es. Auf ca. der Hälfte dieses Wegs kommt man zu einer Lichtung im Wald. Dort gibt es eine Menge Sitzgelegenheiten mit Tischen und einen Kinderspielplatz. Dieser Außenbereich ist auch bewirtet. Leider ist die Auswahl sehr überschaubar. Dafür sind die Preise hoch. Schade. Den Platz finde ich toll. Im Hauptrestaurant sind zumindest die Preise der Speisen etwas besser. Auch die Auswahl ist größer. Die Qualität des Essens ist in Ordnung. Allerdings ist der Innenbereich des Restaurants zu klein. Bei Kälte oder schlechtem Wetter ist dieser enorm schnell voll und es gibt keine Sitzplätze mehr. Der Souvenirladen ist aufgrund der völlig überzogenen Preise absolut zu vermeiden.

This amazing castle has 9 floors. Even the underground part of it is extremely romantic. During the second world war it has been destroyed by allies because it was used by Hitler for some time. The locals have spent a lot of energy to rebuild it. Its location at the Main river is extremely suggestive. I invite you to take a walk at the promenade along the river and to visit the typical German Bier Garden located near the river which locals consider the place where to be during the afternoon till late in the evening. The position of the Bier Garden is simply perfect for unique sunsets. Next to it there are clean toilets. The entire area and the gardens next to the castle are a good and clean visit card made in the classic German style.

Beautifull place; the museum was closed,it works till 17 hours,but despite of that there is much to see. Gorgeous gardens,fantastic view from the terase. Only thing is there is no access to the strollers,so if you are going with a baby as we did be prepared to lift up and down the stroller 😁 below the castle there's a river and promenade on wich there is a some sort of Cafe. It is selfservis type.

I was here a kind of by mistake from a friend who took me there ...when got there and listen to the history of this place after 400 years Schloss is build...I can imagine such big structure standing like that till date..due I was there in the night.

What a lovely place to visit. It takes 25 min. from Frankfurt airport. We spent over 2 hours looking at the whole museum. Parking was pricey (30 min. 1 euro) but it was worth it.

Unfortunately I missed openning hours ☹️. But even from outside it is amazing. ... do finaly I made it and it was really worth to go here again 🫶
