Stunning view over the Passau peninsula, a blessing for lucky tourists and locals. I've found this amazing place in a beautiful afternoon and i enjoyed the sunset over the hills and the city with an excellent beer on the table. And everything made me happy.

We just walked out of this place, after being given menus only in German not English (this is a tourist restaurant) and then waiting for approximately 20-25 minutes for staff to take an order of either drinks or food, despite noticing them notice us numerous times. Now I have to deal with my husband's annoyance for a couple of hours...

Unfriendly and incompetent waitress, expensive prices and a very small portion for a very high price! This was just my personal experience and it’s not meant to be rude but just matter of fact! The rest of the dishes were okay in size and including mine they were great taste wise. But my meal was even if you’d listed it as a child sized dish by far too little, especially if you consider the price! I’m sure the waitress didn’t mean to be unfriendly or come across as so but after asking for a recommendation between 2-3 dishes and not getting an answer (among other things), I’m just not comfortable with calling the service anything but dissatisfying!

What a great restaurant on top of the hill overlooking Passau. We hike up the path to the Museum and decided to eat here since it was a nice warm day in April. We sat outside with the best view of the day. The menu was in German but we were able to select our dishes based on other Google pics. Some of the waitstaff spoke English but all were friendly and provided great service.

If you want to have the arguably best view over Passau while enjoying a wide selection of regional specialties you're well served here. Panaroma windows next to one of Passau's castles allow an astonishing view. Interior is well chosen as a mix of modern and rustic elements allowing for a great athmosphere both indoor and outdoor. Lots of small bites are available as well so even as a place for a typical afternoon "Brotzeit" I can totally recommend it. Staff is friendly, food's authentic and pricing is fair (could be far more expensive with that view). You walk up the hill or drive by car from the backside of the hills.

This amazing place is above Passau, on a high hill. Wonderful view to the city of Passau, to the rivers. Nice and tasty food, professional staff. I want to visit it again as soon as possible.

Beautiful view of the city and good food. I recommend having lunch here at least once, or even just for dessert in the afternoon. Prices are slightly higher but that is fair considering the nice location. I have been here on several occasions. And I have noticed that there are different types of service. Some are too hasty and uncaring others are very kind and attentive to the customer (I have also been here on a really sad day in my life and met a waiter with great sensitivity and sweetness and I thank him very much for his humanity).

This one is a difficult one. We stopped for a coffe an cake at lunch and the view is wow cake could be better. But that is Germany for me no good cakes. We booked for dinner to eat at wow what a disappointing. Food was ok nothing good or amazing simply ok, the server very nice but and this is a very big BUT. Acoustics are horrible the level of nice was through the roof can’t hear yourself think. And they also run a wedding venue from the same kitchen so we needed to wait for the wedding to be served then us! Never will be back simply a painful experience.

Foods are great and also the services. Good for meeting with friends or family meetings with small children as well. Nice !

The interior of the restaurant is modern and very clean. Also, the view is very nice and you can enjoy your meal with the best view. The food was also more elegant and beautiful than most German restaurants. I am not a fan of sauerkraut, but the sauerkraut here was very good. The beer was very tasty, even though it was very difficult to walk to the restaurant from the ground.

If you are in Passau on a sunny day, Das Oberhaus is a lovely option to dine or for quick drink with an amazing view. We were unable to book one of the inside tables for a meal. But still stopped in and were able to sit at an outside table. Unfortunately, we ordered using their efficient app from the standard menu. But some items were unavailable due to the special Easter menu. We asked to switch out the standard waffles and apple sauce dessert for the special Easter item that was similar, and the maitre'd, Mark, complained that we'd already paid. We said we would happily pay the difference. He rushed off. Shortly afterwards, our drinks arrived. We nursed them for a good long while. After around 45 min we tried to get a waiters attention, but to no avail. They were all very busy and working very hard. At around an hour after we ordered, our drinks were finished and a waiter came by to see if we wanted another. They were very confused when we asked if they knew where our food was (not just because of the language barrier). Two separate waiters went to see the maitre'd, we saw them speak to him. Neither came back to us. Mark did not come and speak to us. We waited another 10 minutes being ignored, then finally left, writing off the €30 of food we'd ordered. By the time we got to our hotel, they had credited our entire bill, drinks included. So that was nice. But I would have liked to have tried their food, it looked amazing.

Grandeur! No wonder this restaurant is popular. The outdoor dining area provides the great view over the town and river that is flawless under such a beautiful day, besides I was savoring my delicious Bayern-Austria cuisine with joy!

Wonderful view alongside the rivers. Seating outside was nice, but you’d better get an inside table if coming for dinner or late lunch. Tasteful food and desert. A must visit if you’re in town. Staff very friendly.

Great food. Great views. Staff spoke a little english so it made ordering easier. Only seating outside due to Covid restrictions. Visited about 3 weeks ago. Ordered salmon and it was very good. Had a little surprise friend with my meal I wasn't expecting.

We went into the restaurant without any reservations but the waiter still accommodated us. Staff service was very impressive and the dessert we ordered was worth it. The view would’ve been spectacular if we came before sundown.

Visited this establishment after a walk up to the castle. A perfect spot for a break and food. Our time of visit was approx 5.30pm and enjoyed the sunset while seated at the outdoor terrace. Service was good. Prices are fair. Food- the best kaiserschmarrn I ever had in the last few months in Bavaria. A must have !

Excellent view, the food is pricy but good. Some vegetarian and vegan options. If you come on a weekday near 8pm they will rush you to order because the kitchen closes at 8pm (not so cool for tourists). Toilets are ok.

Nice place and good service. Could not enjoy or finish the meal due to the yellow jackets. There were about 5 to 6 at a time in our plates, in our faces. None of us have allergies or are sensitive to bees/wasps, but this was beyond unpleasant.

You will enjoy the spectacular scenery while eating tasty food. Highly recommend.

Absolutely amazing view over whole Passau. Staff was really friendly and dogs are welcomed too. Food was good as well. Prices are great if you take into account million dollar view. Place also has beautiful garden for summer days as well as playground for kids. Shades are also great an provide good protection against sun.
