Nice place to go for a walk and teach the kids about nature. They have the recreation center where you can use it for kids to have fun and do different activities, also you can book a birthday party here. Nice, clean and amazing.....

This nature center is excellent. We enjoyed the walk on the trails and the 5 and 2 year olds we were watching thoroughly enjoyed the visits to the nature games and exhibits in the main building. Already looking forward to coming back.

Richardson Nature Center is a favorite of our family. The trails around the lake and pond and section of prairie are lovely, the building/center has a lot packed into it, and the programs they put on are fantastic.

Hands down one of the best maintained and established nature centers for ALL ages. As a new mom I enjoy it myself with all the trails and scenic views. My toddler son enjoys the Nature Play Area and we go there weekly during the summer when the weather is cooler and then head over to the Nature Center indoors to cool down and enjoy their beautiful floor to ceiling murals, nature themed activities and observatory sections.

Nice place to stop before or after a hike. Their animal displays are wonderful and their rooms for just sitting and watching birds are fantastic. I particularly enjoy going in the winter with all the hiking trails

Awesome nature center with birds, a small children’s area, a small gift shop, and clean bathrooms. We love this nature preserve, especially the kid’s nature play area that is just a short walk from the building.

Nice place close to the city for an hour or two in nature with kids. There is a play area and the kids liked finding water bugs, minnows, and turtles.

Richardson is a great nature area so close to the busy Hwy. 100/494 area. There are indoor and outdoor activities year round. On a recent hike along one of many paths, there were no buildings or streets in sight from many vantage points.

Such a beautiful place! Deck with a great bird watching view, natural play area for kids, an occasion wild turkey, many Flora & Fauna & Funga, a cute little trickle of a stream for kiddos to snoop around, paved trails and woodchip trails, a nice parking lot with handicap parking.

Absolutely incredible, they have a beautiful lodge area with a kids section to play and learn. Walking trails are immaculate and well maintained. They recently re did the parking which now has more spots and better lighting. They also offer a ton of classes and events for children and families. Such a wonderful place for the community

Really nice parking area and trail maps. All kinds of different Trails for different people, some are flat and out in the grassy areas, some are through the woods, and some even go up by the ski hill and ski jump for some elevation training. All in all a really nice curated area with a beautiful Visitor Center and outdoorsy playground for the kids.

Lots of flooded out trails, makes backtracking required. About 95% of folks not wearing masks which was frustrating. Lots of walking or biking trail options. Bikes come pretty fast, too many curves and peds to be very comfortable if looking for a fast ride.

Richardson Nature Center is a gem. Its great for all ages but it's really great for elamentry age kids and younger. The perfect family outing anytime but in the fall the colors are wonderful. I take my 20 month grandson and he loves it. Live snakes, toads, and birds. Hands on activities. Miles of hiking trails with lakes ponds and lots of wild life. Its very special.

What a great place to take your kids to. And even for adults. Walking around the whole park is very good exercise. Plus you get to see turkeys, dear, frogs, bees, fish, eagle's. Owls, red tail hawks. And all assortments of hawks. The scenery is just breathtaking. The staff which are the Rangers are friendly knowledgeable and very helpful if needed. You can learn a lot about the nature at the Richardson Nature Center.

Love this place!!! A very clean and state of the art nature preserve. Paths are well maintained without taking away from surroundings. Multiple docks and a observatory deck are great features. There are multiple places to get a good view of the resident osprey and other waterfowl.

We had a blast the couple times we have made it this year! It's a great way to get your kids outside... Playing with nature... Exploring... And learning .. many things to do and even kid kits to use while there! So much fun!! 🤗

Our family has a great time exploring here. There are wonderful spaces inside and out. It’s also easy to visit with a young baby, because there are some nice quiet spaces inside for feeding or changing.

Something for everyone here! Excellent indoor exhibits for kids (and adults), but especially kids! Be sure to visit the upstairs level too, where they have resident raptors and you can bird watch (especially nice in the winter). Great programming, including free family programs on Sundays. Outside, many non-paved trails take you through different habitats. The nature exploration area is wonderful! My kids would play there all day if I let them. If you prefer paved trails, head out of the parking lot and follow the trails to explore the rest of Hyland.

Excellent shade walking on wood chips around trees and wildlife, ponds and meadow. Nice that the bathrooms are available too during COVID with running water and flush toilets. Very well kept up place. Love it.

The inside & outside of the Nature Center is full of great displays and cool interactive for young & old alike. Along some of the trails there are little learning signs about the different trees. We hiked one trail which was a little rugged for elders and stroller pushing, but it felt truly like a Nature Walk. It is close to the City but you think you are way out in the country side. Rolling grasslands, forests, bogs. Parking was ample. Pretty wide trails for social distancing. Winter time they groom it for winter activities. Great place to get outside with kids.

Choose your adventure. Well marked trails on soft mulch. You can make your trail short or long with nice views along some ponds and prairies.

  • 4/5 Laura R. 1 year ago on Google
Lots of trails (a little confusing) but nice space. Lots of cool activity areas for little kids (indoors and outdoors). Bring bug spray!

Very elegant place. Great for education, hiking, exploring. One of the best spots to go to is the stick area where kids can build or play swords.

We held my daughter’s 6th birthday party at the Richardson Nature Center and it was a great experience. The kids had a great time outside (and running around inside the center). They got to explore outside and play in the fort-building area, look for animals, and check out the pond. The staff was so friendly, easy-going, and helpful, and Valerie, the naturalist who took the kids outside, was absolutely awesome. Highly recommend as a birthday party location!

  • 5/5 Simon A. 1 year ago on Google
Beautiful location and great trails all around. The center itself has a few different animals inside and an extremely peaceful room with rocking chairs with a pond viewing area. Definitely a hidden gem next to Hyland Park!

  • 5/5 Ryan C. 4 years ago on Google
Very well maintained building and surrounding area. The animals are also well cared for.

  • 5/5 Beerwench67 3 years ago on Google
Very nice trails. Lots of ups and downs. Walking sticks help those who cannot climb hills that well.

My son and I love visiting Richardson. The staff there are so friendly and they have materials for you to go exploring and learn about the natural landscapes surrounding.
